Barrett Building Company is a great example of what all construction companies should strive for…read more They're reliable, trustworthy, respectful and hard working. We found they provide all the benefits of a large construction company; experience, extensive knowledge and customer references but with the benefit of working with a small company. You don't have to worry about a random crew showing up to complete your job. Jim, the owner, is present at every job to ensure you're satisfied and his crew has been working with him for years (it is a family business after all). BBC has completed a variety of small to large projects for my family. My favorite project was the full restoration of a 1963 vintage camper we purchased that was in terrible shape. The interior was completely gutted and needed a lot of TLC - new flooring, side paneling, bedroom, kitchen table, counter tops, etc. The exterior was also in bad shape - requiring sanding, repairs, painting, etc. I've included before and after pictures so you can see the amazing transformation. Our family is SO happy with our "new" camper and recommend Barrett Building Company to anyone looking for a reliable contractor at a fair price!

We had another…read morecontractor out to the house who was very knowledgeable and professional, but only hired Larry because the quote came in lower. Now we seriously regret it. His work was sub-standard at best. His quote was at 3,500 originally, for a tiny kitchen, but when it was time to write the check we were charged an extra $650 in materials. We purchased all of the materials except some wood trim. I don't think mud, and screws, and a little bit of trim warrants $650, an extra charge that we were not informed about in advance, or an itemized list of what materials that he used to justify the extra costs. If screws, mud, and some wood trim warrants a $650 charge he must base his prices on what the government charges people which is seriously over inflated and ridiculous! I asked simple advice during the cabinet install and his excuse quoting him was " I'm a contractor not a designer". I never asked him to design our kitchen. The other contractor came out and actually designed the kitchen even before we hired him. We had a few cabinets that needed to be returned to Home Depot, which all contractors do. His excuse was " my truck is full I can't help you". Also our refrigerator was moved around the kitchen and both handles are now broken, possibly leaving us with having to replace it. The wheels on the refrigerator suddenly stopped turning because there was so much debris under them they seized up because of the lousy clean up of the floor was. Larry installed the new sink, and all new sinks come with garbage disposal covers, and he didn't even look for it in the box, therefore it was not installed leaving us to get someone else to install it. So I found out his honesty level is extremely poor, his work is cheaply done, and his attitude is unprofessional at best. His personality is over inflated just like his material costs! I only paid it because we were so fed up at that point with all of this mess, we just wanted to get rid of him! I asked him how much a tiny backsplash would be , just for my own curiosity and entertainment, and he came in at $2,500! He seriously thought I would even consider that after all the happened! Well, we cheated out hiring a contractor who did sub-standard work and broke our refrigerator handles, and left gouges in our new cabinets, and with a terrible attitude, besides other things. Never do that again! It was well worth hiring the other contractor, who would have done everything for us. We are seniors and my husband has Parkinson's and other health issues which he clearly seen. I would never, ever recommend him to anyone! One star is actually too good for him! Do yourself a favor, do your due diligence when hiring a contractor!

My husband reached out to Done Rite and was told he didn't service our area and wasn't sure he could totally do what we needed. Okay no problem. He said he'd come anyway since he had some open time and we greatly appreciated it, it had been tough to find a reputable and reasonably priced plumber. Larry is the owner, my husband spoke with him over the phone. He said he wasn't sure he could do what we were asking but said he would come anyway. My husband plumbed commercially many many years ago. With work and our kids, our plates are very full so we decided to hire this portion of our basement reno out. We were definitely happy we got somewhere who was available and seemed to be pretty personable and friendly. Larry told us his prices and we accepted them. Larry came by with 3 other guys, so total 4 guys including Larry. One guy attempted to do the work while Larry and the others stood around watching. When my husband realized they'd need some assistance he jumped right in to help. The other guys Larry brought were very friendly and nice, a far cry from what we've experienced before. Larry literally stood around and watched the one guy work, not giving any direction, smoked a few cigs outside our walkout and answered phone calls while these young and obviously inexperienced plumbers tried their best. One guy had more knowledge but you could tell he was still learning. Hours began passing and we realize this is not going to get done quickly if my husband doesn't help. Being the person that my husband is, he steps in to assist the obviously stumped guys at what else to do. My husband then had to say to Larry hey man why don't you get started on that section while these guys finish up here? Literally so much time was wasted. My husband ended up sweating some of the lines himself so they could be done faster smh. After all that Larry's sweating was poorly done to say the least. Finished product looked terrible. Then when we got the bill it was almost $700! And Larry did one copper pipe!! What a waste of money and he still charged us. We pay because we're honest people but we were not happy. We felt taken advantage of big time. Then a pipe starts leaking. We called Larry back, they had just left so we tried to catch them before they got too far. Larry sends back the one guy who did more of the work to fix the pipe. After the fixed issue, Larry asked if he can charge us for another hour! What a waste of time and money. It took them from 9am to close to 3/4pm to finish this job. And it would have taken longer if my husband hadn't stepped in and started telling them what to do. My husband did about 70% of the soldering. Larry's way of doing business is a sham. There is no way we should have been charged so much for him doing ZERO work and then he wanted to charge us $100 more after they had to come back and fix something. Of course we were not paying him anymore money for him to stand around while his worker tried to figure out what to do. The others who were very pleasant, looked lost and Larry gave them no guidance whatsoever. He definitely ripped us off. We should have just stopped them at 2 hours smh. Once we realized Larry was leaving these guys to just figure this out, my husband stepped in. Being nice and we got taken advantage of. Lesson learned. The one star was for the guys being friendly and coming to our area. Update: we now have a leak smh

It had the original cabinets from the 1970s. The shelves weren't even, and there was barely any counter space to work with. We knew we wanted to replace all the cabinets, get quartz counterop, and upgrade the layout to be more functional. We called another competitor first, and they quoted us that the bare minimum of what we were asking for would be over $45,000, which was more than twice our budget. When we met Bill, he wasn't pushy or salesy. We told him our budget and what we were looking for, and he was able to meet every expectation. It took about 8 weeks for our cabinets to come in/be made. Immediately after that, Joe and the crew came and completed our kitchen renovation within 2 weeks. My partner and I work from home, and the renovation did not disturb our workflow at all. We'll definitely be working with them again in the future when we update our bathrooms!

Had our kitchen done 25 years before and it took months to be completed (a true nightmare). Joe Allen was so patient with us because we had no idea what we wanted plus he designed a perfect change that we needed. Every morning he showed up to check on the job and even helped with moving out all our old appliances. I enjoyed working with his son who also help in picking out backsplash and colors. We were so pleased with them that I would call them again and highly recommend them. Whats nice you can tell they love what they are doing and their work shows it. Another quick note CKD was so fast at coming to give us a quote and very reasonable. Eileen S.

Yelp sent me several and I hired Soberal Tile and Marble through them to do the job. Unfortunately in the process 3 more tiles cracked and had to be replaced at an extra 50% cost. The job turned out well and matched the rest so I was happy with it. I wanted to install a backsplash in my kitchen and again googled contractors. Yelp sent me several and Soberal was one of them so I hired them through Yelp to do the job. I am totally dissatisfied with the work performed on this job. Ruben, the owner and installer, is of the mindset that I am not happy because the tile was entirely different from the display on the store wall which is not the case. I contacted him with the issues I have and he was to call and set up a time to come and discuss them. It's been over a month with no call so I can only assume he does not guarantee his work which is why I am writing this review. I sent him a picture of the first issue which is the tile around the left side of the window sill. It is poorly cut , the grout around it looks white instead of bone, and it sticks out like a sore thumb. The grout, which he recommended I purchase, is another issue. On the sink wall it is all gritty, sparce in areas, and looks like it will crumble out whereas the grout on the stove wall is not like that. It looks like grout should look. Improperly mixed on the sink wall??? After I contacted him another issue arose where the grout is receding and disappearing. The area was about 2 inches long when I first noticed it and it has continued to spread in other areas along that wall so now there is a space between the tile and the 4 inch countertop backsplash where the original grout was. I have no idea if this is going to continue. I contacted Ruben a couple days after the job was finished to let him know there were issues, along with a picture of the poorly cut tile and grout around it, and he didn't contact me until I said I was going to contact Yelp. Then he said he would call me to set up a time to see and discuss and nothing yet. I'm through waiting to hear from Ruben so I need to find a different contractor to see if these issues can be corrected without replacing the entire job at a huge expense to me. Yelp advertises 100% satisfaction guarantee and I hired both jobs through them so I am going to send them this review on a claim form and see what they suggest I do. That being said, I do not recommend Soberal Tile and Marble. UPDATE TO REVIEW. Ruben called, set up a time, and came out to look at the issues. I asked if he could regrout the bad area and he said that it would only crack again and the only way he could fix it was to caulk it. I really didn't want that but had no choice. He left to purchase the caulk and he and his partner removed the grout from the bad area on the sink wall as well as the grout on the other side of the sink wall and both sides of the stove wall where it met with the countertop backsplash. I wasn't impressed when they finished. The caulk not only filled the gap but missed a couple spots that look bad and also left a film on the top of the countertop backsplash and the bottom of the tiles which are now no longer shiny where the caulk is. Then when I asked him for the umpteenth time about the gritty grout on the entire sink wall and the non-gritty grout on the entire stove wall he told me grout is gritty which has been his answer every time I questioned it. If that's the case, why weren't both walls the same with gritty grout or non gritty grout. The grout on the stove wall is not gritty and looks like grout should look. He just reiterated there was nothing wrong with the grout job. He says that is the way grout is. I can't say with certainty but I believe a new second batch of grout was mixed for the stove wall or the batch that was used on the sink wall was refreshed by adding more water and remixing which could explain the difference. I really don't know why this happened. I think he realizes it is wrong but has to stick with what he has been saying. The photos I am attaching of the grout on both walls aren't really good but show enough so you can be the judge. When he was preparing to leave he repeatedly asked me if we were "good " and I didn't respond. Just stared at him while shaking my head sideways. I think he knows I am still not happy with the job. I don't think anyone would or should be happy with the grout being very gritty on one entire wall and not gritty at all on the other entire wall. He was paid in full so he hasn't lost anything. Unfortunately for me, I turned out to be the loser and had to deal with having to correct this which has now been done. I have one final word for Ruben - would your wife be happy if this job was done in your home. I guarantee you she wouldn't be happy or satisfied with it, as I am not, and seriously doubt anyone else would be. Since

We discussed the plan of work for the contract prior to the project. I am obligated to work 5 days/week and could only take a few days off work; Therefore, they had to work each weekend until the work was completed. They did a great job, and I would use them again; HOWEVER, there were bouts of miscommunication that resulted in my misunderstanding the process, amount of time it takes to complete the work, etc. I also did not realize that things like molding, putting the window treatments back was extra, and electrical sockets would be recessed behind the drywall layer, needing extenders to raise the DC outlet flush to the surface layer, and windows would need a particular layer of covering to protect against joint compound dust; Therefore, understanding that there was a lot I would need to know as a layperson/customer, DPR needed to communicate the plan of work more clearly.
