The items were remedied within a few days. Everything looks great! No more leaking roof. -------------------------------------- On a side note, my neighbor (weeks later) said she saw many nails in her driveway, and when she said something to the workers, they were really rude. She said the next day there were food rappers and more nails in her yard/driveway, and said she ended up with a roof nail in her tire with a flat. I also later found 2 cigarettes (one smoked and the other whole) in my attic, and have found nails here and there for weeks now. For these last few reasons, I could not offer a 5-star rating, and almost put 3 stars, but 3 would not be indicative of the overall quality, which is more important to me from a roofer than attitude--though if everyone had an attitude similar to the owner's son, 5 stars would be an easy rank. Four weeks after the quote and we still had no communication with this company unless we called ourselves, and even then we got the voicemail 9 times out of 10. When someone did answer, they gave us a new excuse every time. Apparently our job wasn't worth the money, and instead of canceling on us or keeping their word they just ghosted us. Our roof could've been fixed much sooner with the company we actually went with in the end and it would've prevented further damage. Shame on these guys.

First let me start by saying I tried to give this company every opportunity to right what i felt…read morewas their wrong. I had work done by them back in October and Today is June 12. Its not like I'm inspecting my chimney in 40 degree weather so i thought nothing of it until spring time when i was outside cleaning up from winter... i look up and see missing mortar joints that i thought i pod to get fixed! I try my best to support the small guys and shop local so i called ground to crown. The intro: water was coming in my basement due to my chimney crown/collar needing some repair. When mike came for the inspection he said to me that there were some loose mortar joints and that he would fill them in as he seen them because this was all part of the issue. Since they were going to be here doing that i figured I'd get a chimney sweep done too. The rising action: Mike and his helper get here to work. Work is going relatively quickly and smooth. New crown/collar is being done , they placed some new chimney vent caps on and it's looking beautiful! So i go back to my home office to finish up work. Now it's time for the chimney inspection (after the chimney sweep of course). Climax: Mike calls me down to give me the invoice and says "you're chimney is a hazard and is not safe to use, it will be marked as that on the invoice. so as his helper is putting the inspection equipment away i ask if he's going to show me or do i just have to take his word? He says he will send still pics to me. I asked him to please show me with the equipment because sending stills is going to be like me looking at something in Chinese, i will not understand. After going back and forth he pulls the equipment out and runs the camera up ..."Firebox looks great , smoke chamber looks great..." mike says. Things are going well at this point i think ! Then he takes the camera all the way up to the last piece of flue(clay liner) and says "you have gaps here and creosote can collect in there and cause a fire" **now mind you, i understand a little about business so i get that they want to do the chimney sweep first to get a better view for the inspection as well as get more money out of you because if they said the chimney was not usable before the sweep then ppl wouldn't get it!" ** Falling action: By this time I'm fuming because i just got an invoice for work done on my chimney that i can't use going forward. What I'm most upset about is that he was already making $800 off of me for the crown/collar /vent caps , and the last piece of flue w/gaps can be seen from the top of the chimney! HE DIDNT HAVE TO DO AN INSPECTION AND SWEEP TO TELL ME THIS!! He did it to make a couple more hundred dollars off of me, and that's where i feel like i was taken advantage of. So i ask him " I BET YOU SELL A SYSTEM TO FIX THIS DONT YOU?" And he says " of course we do" Hands me a pamphlet and says " this system starts at about $2,500 and is a two step process" by this time I'm just over it so i send them on their way. Resolution: I call another company out that does the same system (heat shield)that mike told me "starts at $2,500" and they did it for $1,500. WEIRD RIGHT ? Fast forward to spring time ; I'm checking the chimney out and see quite a few spots that should have been filled in while they did the rest of the work(April showers bring may flowers) plus i can see other spots they filled in , so i call and send pictures mike. It takes him over a month to come and check it out. He gets here and pulls out the invoice and says "that wasn't on here to do that". ANOTHER LESSON, MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IN WRITING!! mind you when he initially came for the water intrusion issue he said he would fill in all spots he seen because it all is part of the problem. then mike proceeds to tell me "yeah that could have blown off over the winter , things like that happen". he's right things like that do happen, but you know what - the rest of the things that happened shouldn't have. Price gouging , unprofessional, and to take over a month to come check out what the issue was is unacceptable. i know this was a lot to read but understand this isn't just me bashing them, this is the review /story of what they did to me and what they will do to you!!! Update to Complaint/Review HomeSpec Waterproofing and…read moreFoundation Repair I am writing to provide an update regarding my experience with HomeSpec Waterproofing. In 2024 I entered into a contract (which I paid cash for) with HomeSpec to have my basement waterproofed and a sump pump installed. Over the following two years my basement continued to take on water after heavy rainfalls. After multiple visits that yeilded no answers and a periood where communication stalled, I posted a negative review to express my frustration. Shortly after posting, HomeSpec reached out and sent a team back to my home. Thats when management representative Brian stepped in and took full accountability for finding the root cause. He used a practical methods to track the water flow, he placed paper towels around the perimeter to pinpoint the entry point and found it. After the next rain he had his crew to remove the drywall and insulation to expose the hidden leak. Once the leak was identified, the crew repaired the issue. As of 9/2/2026, HomeSpec has restored my basement by installing new insulation, putting up and painting new drywall as replacing my electrical fixtures in the area where there was water damage. While the overall process took a long time and required significant peristance to reach a solution, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Brian for his professionalism, determination to making things right, Hopefully the issue is now resolved, and I will be monitoring the basement during upcoming rainfalls to ensure the fix remains permanent.
