I said sure so I told her what I was needing and she found everything right away. I needed a fuel filter she Took Me Right to it. Then I asked for some bolts she took me there and she found them. I was a good old fashioned hardware store experience. When I got home my wife said that was fast I said yep the have young girl that know the job. SUPER GREAT EXPERIENCE. It almost always results by bizarre coincidence or divine intervention, that they have exactly what I need and I wasted all that time shopping around. I have since learned to go to Grosse Ile Hardware first. Prices here are in line with quality and quality products are all they stock. So if you don't care if it breaks or is cheaply made, go somewhere else.

A couple of times I had to make multiple trips in one day. The staff was always professional and helpful, and almost always had what I needed, which is saying a lot since I managed an old 50-unit building that needed a lot of things for a lot of problems. Sometimes I would grab the wrong thing, and it was never a problem bringing it back and exchanging it for the right thing. Sometimes my boss would get a bit behind in paying for it all, and they would gently remind me, and the ol' slumlord would send them a check from Florida. They were cool but firm about it. It seemed to be a situation they'd been through many times before. They have homey touches here - a small tv on the counter that's always showing something. A fridge with Faygo in the can. My favorite thing about 3rd Ave Hardware is the bicycle selection. In the warmer months there's a whole row chained together on the sidewalk out front. Old ten speeds, 70s 3 speeds, cruisers, mountain bikes, etc. But, wait, there's more inside! Another row between the front door and the register and still more up and down the cramped aisles! (3rd Ave Hardware could really use a more spacious locale.) The prices won't break the bank either. I just bought my second bike from there - a green mountain bike from CCM, that Canadian company that makes hockey equipment. It's a pretty sweet bike for $100. My last one was, too. It was an old 70s 3 speed with a big comfy seat and a glistening orange paint job that just looked like candy. Too bad it got ripped off. Oh well, that's life in the D. I won't pack it in, and I'm glad 3rd Ave won't either. I'm only knocking them down one star because of their paint selection. It's lousy and overpriced. Go somewhere else for paint.

Self-checkout fury as customers threaten to boycott Lowe's and go to Ace Hardware…read more Self-checkouts have been blamed for people losing their jobs and there is now an ongoing pushback against the technology being used, as one retailer found out.  Ace Hardware in Wyandotte Mi, a 2nd generation owner Jerry Jr. grew up in his father's store.  The negative experience of zero cashiers at Lowe's has me visiting Ace Hardware much more.  Ace sends me 2 coupons each month $5 off $20 a mega deal 25 percent off.  And I get points every purchase towards another free $5 many times each year.  A fast Friendly crew always ready to help.  Been a customer 35 plus years for a great reason .  Thanks Dawn the manager and Jerry the owner .  Seriously Ace corporate needs to make a commercial to promote No Self Checkouts in our stores .  @acehardware #acehardware

I mistakenly had my items shipped to this HD. My eyes saw Allen Rd and instantly assumed "Allen…read morePark". I was nervous after seeing the reviews and tried to change my orders location. I was told attempting the change would require a full cancellation and need to reorder. I moved forward with this location and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by three staffers at the door who directed me to where I needed to go. Upon walking over to customer I was kindly greeted by more staff. I called for my order and two gentlemen assisted by placing my order of two heavy toilets into my crossover vehicle. From what I saw the store was very clean. Though my time in the store was short and I only picked up items, I saw it befitting to highlight my experience which was contrary to the reflection of this store's low stars.

The fencing was from Home Depot and the tile from Lowes. Both products bought a couple of days from one another. Mind you they were in my garage and I forgot about them until I was cleaning out the Garage. None the less I'm always doing projects and am in and out of Lowes and Home Depot a lot. So I decided what the heck I'll see if I can return them, they were past 90 days old but what the heck. Return #1, Home Depot. No problem returned the item , didn't matter when it was purchased everything was in good shape anyway. Plus they know I'm in there pretty much weekly anyway. Return #2 Lowes - Sorry sir our policy is we can't take items back purchased more than 90 days ago. OK so I sat, could you perhaps do a store credit maybe in always in here shopping anyway. Oh no, we have policies for a reason. Ok so take your policy and shove it, I'll happily take my business down the street to Home Depot where they focus on customer retention. Stupid way to handle a customer who USED to spend hundreds a month at your store.
