Nothing but love other than the Wifi being weaksauce at best. Making the trip to CHI via megabus beats the crap out of driving Han Solo to Chicago. Book your trip early enough and you can get to CHI for next to nothing. Do it to far down the line and it will cost you the same as driving your car. But again, less hassle than taking your own car, parking, etc. Long and short of the review, Megabus is Czar approved. read more

It was the worst experience. The bus was scheduled to arrive at 9PM, we waited outside in the cold for an hour, and finally someone at the megabus customer service center told us that the bus would not arrive until 1AM!! The fact that upset me so much was that they could not notify us, or give us any details until an hour after the bus was suppose to arrive. We have yet to get through to customer service for a refund and I will be pleasantly surprised if we see the money. We will never be using the megabus ever again! read more

Online Booking Is Terrible. I tried to change my Trip to another day but the online booking wasn't working so I tried to call but they were closed and by the time they opened the window to change my ticket expired. they don't refund and they wouldn't credit my ticket. They tried to make me pay them $7 extra to book over the phone even though they website was down so I caught the Greyhound. Fast forward to a new trip same thing and customer service is very rude barely speaks English and could give two flying f's about you. I signed up for Yelp just to write this Megabus review. I've ridden the Megabus several times to Chicago and back to visit my daughter, who's ridden it dozens of times the past few years. It is just terrible service. The bus is late half the time and there's nowhere to stay warm or use the bathroom. I'm a petite 60-year-old woman and was yelled at by a male driver for helping my daughter get her suitcase from below the bus because he was lighting up a cigarette doing nothing. The Chicago experience is even worse. The bus boards in a dingy party of downtown with very little around (except panhandlers). There's no where to even sit and barely any room to stand these days with Megabus now going to numerous cities around the Midwest and there being scores of people crowded onto a small sidewalk section. It's just a complete joke. But by far the worst experience was this past week. My daughter's bus was supposed to leave Indy at 9:45am. It was a miserable 10 degrees out. The bus still had not arrived by 11am -- with zero notice to its whereabouts, or if it was even coming at all. People started calling their families or cabs to get picked up. It was awful. We ended up having to drive our daughter all the way to Chicago. She didn't receive an alert notifying her that the bus was running late until an hour-and-a-half after it was supposed to leave. She tried to get a refund with no success. read more

Ok. This took place on October the 16th & i SWEAR to God i will NEVER ride Megabus (Or as i like to call it now "MegaBS") ever again!!! As a first time customer, It was 5 hours of hell that i wish i could forget. - First of all I was forced to wait a whole hour & a half out in the cold night air for the damn bus to arrive with 4 other people. - Then when i got on there, i found that there was no wifi onboard Not that i coulda seen anyways cos it Was dark as hell on board. couldn't see what you were doing in the dim purple light. - bus driver didn't know a damn thing about the onboard Wifi & suggested i change seats. - people were rude. Encountered a lady on board who was like "Where is you goin? you done changed seats like four times" when in reality i only changed seats once at the suggestion of the driver & another just then when they had stopped to let people on. Then when i tried to tell her the truth she said "Op no no no, that's not the answer" like i was being an ass. i wasn't about to start a fight so i just said "Ok Fine. whatever". - seats were cramped & got crowded out by the fatass next to me. I SWEAR, The Second deck had the tightest seating on the whole bus & there was no room to move a pc or tablet for some entertainment & no way to sleep cos the seats didn't recline. - Bathrooms looked like something you'd see in an outhouse. - Couldn't find the stairs to go to the restroom & felt like an idiot later. - The concept is great. the service sucks. - I think i'll try taking Greyhound Express next time. read more

We had the most horrible experience with Megabus and will never use it again. The bus that was scheduled to return from Chicago to Indianapolis was cancelled at the last minute. We were told to come back two hours later for the next bus. They boarded the regularly scheduled passengers first and then there was not enough room for all of the bumped passengers. We were told to come back for the next bus but there was no guarantee that there would be room on that bus. The service people were rude and condescending. We ended up taking the train and arriving home at 2AM instead of 5:30PM having wasted a day waiting. The bus stops have no seating or shelter. The area is frequented by panhandlers. We were treated rudely and without any regard for our travel needs. read more

Absolute garbage company. Trying to get from Indy to Chicago and they are more than an hour late, did not inform me of the delay, and their entire customer policy (feel free to read it on the website) consists of "we cannot be held responsible for anything." Megabus continues to live up to all of these 1 star reviews. 3:00 Indy to Chicago bus stalled just past the skyway. What a fiasco. It took the mechanics over an hour to show up. Then they did not have the right part. The bus stopped to close to the guard rail to allow the passengers off. Temps in the bus near or over 80. EMT's had to be called for some passengers. You think with all of these terrible reviews they would just quietly go out of business. STAY AWAY FROM MEGABUS. Only gave one state because yelp won't let me give zero. read more

They have horrible customer service. I tried to change reservation online which they allow up to 24 hours of trip. When I tried to find my reservation I was logged off everytime. Once I could call them it was within the 24 hour period but they did not care and said I should have called them earlier. Funny because I was wanting to change to a more expensive reservation. read more

NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN. I would never ever take the mega bus again. Waited 2 hours for this Indpls to Chicago bus to come, but it never showed. Called the company several times and each time they could not give a reason for the delay. Only kept adding 15 min to the travel time. Certainly not worth my time or frustration. Absolutely pitiful service and in general wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Bought tickets for the bus. Bus said that they would departure at 12:00 pm. We got to the location about an hour early to eat an early lunch and just hang out. After about a half hour after the 12:00 pm departure time at 12:30 pm a bus finally showed up. This bus however was going to Cincinnati while we needed to go to Chicago. At this point there was about 35-40 people waiting for the bus. The bus driver said that the bus that we needed was in Indianapolis which is were we were and said that something happened to it and they were going to fix it and be to us in about 15 minutes. About 40 minutes later at 1:10 pm more than an hour after the departure time another Megabus showed up. This one said that they were going to Nashville. Someone called the Megabus number. The first time the customer service person hung up or they got disconnected. Another call and the person said about 15 more minutes until they would know what went wrong however both bus drivers before us also said 15 minutes until the bus arrives except the bus never came. Instead of waiting for a bus that was never going to come we got a Lyft to drive us to our house and from there drive to Chicago. I am currently writing this in the Lyft. We had plans for later in the evening and I think we will still have time because of the time change. read more

I had a great experience with Megabus. I was extremely wary of taking a bus to Chicago by myself, but my coworkers recommended it. The bus was on time, it was clean and the people on it were fairly friendly. It was so much cheaper than driving and parking in the city. I am very satisfied with my experience and would definitely take it again. read more

Megabus is very bad service! The first time I rode from Columbus to Indpls was great but the second time was terrible. I bought indianapolis to Chicago for Chicago Pride. My friend failed to get me to megabus. I called service and they can't postpones time. I was so upset and I almost forgot about another ticket Chicago to Indianapolis I bought. I called on same day but at 5:20pm to try to save the ticket for future. They said it passed 24 hours. I told them I did called in the morning but I wasn't thinking about another ticket that I could had saved the ticket. They were like sorry! (Too bad) no compassions. I decided to email to megabus to explain my situation. They send to me and said it will take five days to view my email but they never bother to email me back. I decided to call them again and they suggested me to resend to them. bad service!! and they will rip you off to keep your money even if you missed bus or (I read other comments) worse if your family passed away and you want to change the date or save the ticket and they will still no compassions. read more

Megabus...Worst experience of my life so far. Bus showed up 45 mins late, hottest day in July, no explanation, email or text message. No seats down had to come up top all the way in the back row...there seems to be no air conditioning whatsoever, and being up top it is so bouncy and shaky I feel like I am on a roller coaster. I was hesitant about the Megabus at first. I am used to public transportation living in chicago. I will have to say that it was superb service. Our driver (an older white man with white hair) was hilarious and extremely nice. My bus fare there was $1 and on the way back it was $28.00. It was very clean, actually made it there in LESS time (about 10 minutes) and I felt safe and comfortable. The seats are spacious enough, the restroom smelled nice and the passengers even played a few rounds of poker on the bottom floor with the table. I would recommend this to anyone. read more

2-3 hours late the last 3 times I've taken it. All the while standing in front of a jail. No apology, no explanation, and blatant lieing that the bus would be there soon when we called. On board driver was rude. Bus smelled. NOT an option for travel when you have to be anywhere at any particular time. So disappointed. And they raised their prices. This bus service is absolutely awful, and is a colossal waste of money. Each and every time that I, my friends, or my family try to use this service there is another horror story to report. Most recently my mother booked a trip from Indianapolis to Chicago to come visit and help with wedding planning. Being fully aware that the bus schedule shift without warning, she arrived approximately 40 minutes early. The bus arrived about 10 minutes later (30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure), let passengers off, then the driver climbed right back on the bus, closed the doors, and left over a dozen passengers standing in the cold. One woman went so far as to knock on the doors and yell at the driver. He completely ignored the knocking and yelling. The driver appeared to be intoxicated. When my mother called Megabus they refused to do anything to help stating that they couldn't lodge any sort of complaint until after the trip was complete. When I called and asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that there are no supervisors on duty, and that I could send an email to the general Megabus customer service email. Thankfully my mother only had to stand in the freezing cold for about 45 minutes until another family member could drive to pick her up. This company deserves to go out of business. read more

I am a disabled senior, and received great service from Megabus many years ago. The trip to Chicago this time was awful. All the seats in the front of the Coach USA bus were reserved, and the bus was already filled with passengers from another stop. Some of these people had place items on the seat next to them, and made no effort to remove the items so that we could be seated. My caregiver had to support me as we struggled all the way to the back of the bus trying to find seats. Finally, a gentleman asked a woman who was seated across from her son if she would move over, and then offered us the seats. Then too, the bus was freezing. When I questioned the driver later, about the lack of priority service for seniors and the disabled. She replied that she worked for another company and just hired to drive the bus. A phone call to the company did not help the situation, as the person who answered could not give me a firm answer about the company policy for dealing with seniors and the disabled. Seniors and those with disabilities should avoid riding this Bus during inclement weather, and if you have not reserved a seat. read more

This is the first time for me using Megabus and it has been the worst experience ever! I was riding from Indianapolis to Nashville, Tennessee. We were to have one stop in Louisville, KY. The ride started off with someone in my assigned seat that I paid extra for and they didn't move or enforce it on the bus. Then we stopped at some random Pilot station for 30 minutes for a rest. After that we stopped in Louisville and we switched drivers and the new driver didn't have a clue how to turn the bus on! He had to ask another driver and make a call to his dispatcher. After he finally figured it out after 10 minutes we hit the road but now for long. The bus wouldn't go over 35 miles per hour but the driver decides to get on the interstate anyway. He calls his dispatcher and they don't know what's wrong so we get off on the next exit. Well at the exit stop the driver tries to take off and kills the bus at the intersection. He calls his dispatcher again! This whole time it seems like he is driving with the emergency brake on and doesn't know it. I'm not sure if he knows how to operate the bus at all! He finally gets the bus started and pulls out in front of a car and almost hits it! He pulls off the side of the road in front of a Dairy Queen where we proceed to wait 45 minutes for him to figure out the issue. When we all got off the bus you can smell something burning like the emergency brake was on! So after 45 minutes the driver says the bus will be fine and for all of us to get on. I called my friend to come and get me because I did not feel safe with the bus or the driver! I will NEVER ride a Megabus again and I most certainly want my money back! If I would have stayed on the bus to get to my destination I would have been over 2 hours late. This service is UNACCEPTABLE! You need to hire drivers that are going to be safe out there and know how to operate your equipment! read more

The trip to Chicago was uneventful although the bus driver was rude to some of the passengers. The return trip was a nightmare. The bus was late and we had to stand out in the hot sun while waiting. When the bus arrived the driver announced that the air conditioner was broken (on July 17, 2011). The driver was a very agressive, dangerously weaving in and out of traffic. My husband and I sat 3 rows from the front and observed the driver tailgating frequently, blowing her horn for cars to move over, talking on the phone frequently (personal), slamming on the brakes when traffic slowed, being frequently distracted including turning around to retrieve a bag on the front seat that contained a sandwich that she proceeded to eat while driving. The overhead bin above me was broken and I had to keep closing it every time she slammed on the brakes to keep some luggage from falling down. First Megabus trip and will be the last. The people who sat in both second row seats said the same thing, their first time using the Megabus and it would be their last. When we arrived in Indianapolis the driver said "this stop is Indianapolis and is on time". She is a menace on the road and her license should be revoked! I would not recommend Megabus. read more
