More like a 3.5 but I will round up to 4. This was an alright stop for our day at Ensenada while taking a 3-day Carnival cruise so this review is geared towards my fellow tourists.
We were hungry when we arrived and were overwhelmed with choices so when the friendly staff greeted us outdoors and promised us clean bathrooms, we were intrigued. The poor guy was basically working the entire restaurant himself.
It seems like this place is somewhat new. The location itself looks like it was repurposed from something different, like some sort of art museum and the bathrooms are up a flight of twisting stairs into some kind of cliff dwellings architecture so it made for very interesting scenery. The mural by Enrique Avilez dominates the scene. They speak English here no problem and have TVs if you want to catch the games. They also play electronic music.
Now for the food and drink... I think we expected something much better, especially for the prices. The beef was really good but the arancherra and rib eye weren't worth the upcharge according to my friends who got it. My friend also didn't think there was any alcohol in her pina colada and I'm not sure I tasted much in my margarita. They did give us free guacamole to try which was delicious and the ceviche came as a generous portion. The shrimp and fish tacos were really small and disappointing though and they were $3.50 each. Everyone was pretty disappointed with their tacos, but maybe their other food like burgers is better?
Also because it was raining, they said their credit card system was down so we had to pay in cash. The bill came in pesos so it was a little hard to split it without first having to convert it. Later we went to a different place and their credit card machine was working so not sure what happened.
Lastly they added a 25% tip to the bill for the five of us automatically.
My party wished we had tried somewhere else, but so hard to choose since there are so many tourist traps in the area. At least the bathrooms were clean! read more
