I am not normally one to complain but I feel as though I need to warn people about this. I write this as I'm at another salon fixing the job I got done here. I made an appointment and was told that the owner would be taking care of me. I went in asked for an ombré and said that if making my hair that light would compromise the integrity of my hair that I would be willing to choose something else. She told me not to worry that she could get it very light without damaging my hair. After sitting under the dryer for 40 mins she took me out, "toned" it, then washed it and said she was going to blow it out for me after she finished another clients blow out. As I sat there I noticed that the end of my hair were completely fried to the point where they were shriveling!!!!! She said the ends would need to be trimmed a little so reluctantly I allowed her to. She then started trimming my hair without combing it out first!! This was the worst experience I've ever had in a salon. Granted I should have spoken up about how upset I was, but I was choking back tears and didn't want to cause a scene. Unless you are over 50 years old please don't go here.. Her methods are stuck in the 60s and not meant for healthy hair. Save yourself the money. Save yourself the tears. Although she was an extremely nice woman I don't think she is cut out for this business. read more

I have been Susan's client for over 5 years with complex extension / integration system. In order to successfully work with it, stylist must be fully aware of the issues with customer's hair such as natural hair growth patterns, problematic growth areas, strength and flexibility of the hair and potential for growth. I had, probably, a most complex set of natural hair which was a constant headache for me - until I met Susan. To make a very long story short, she truly immerses into one's set of issues. When we just began working together, she made sure to continuously address and modify the patterns and use of extensions to compliment my hair, to enhance the problematic areas without compromising its growth potential. Every maintenance session, she listens, evaluates and makes her magic based on addressing your concerns and desires. Now, after over 5 years, I am able to keep extensions as an option as they are no longer a necessity: my hair grew healthy and abundantly, and Susan is gently suggesting to try and get away from using them. This place is a straight hole in the wall in Everett that is home to the best colorist I've ever experienced. I normally go to upscale spots like Mizu, Emerge, Newbury Street and Back Bay but honestly I've never received a better final product than this salon. When I first moved to Boston I was worried about finding a great Stylist that I could trust and go to repeatedly. Unfortunately, I put my hair in the hands of an awful haridresser in Waltham who completely chopped all of my hair off and butchered my look. I was motified and in tears. I have been looking to get eyelash extensions for some time but was looking for a reputable salon that was not too pricey. I found Mega Hair Elite's groupon deal and decided to give it a shot. I made a 5pm appointment, got stuck in terrible traffic AND got lost. However, Andrea was so sweet and accommodating and managed to fit me in even with my being 45 minutes late. I felt so terrible but she was wonderful. The process took a little over an hour but was very relaxing and I LOVE my lashes! I have never received more compliments. I first called Susan about 9 months ago for help with my hair loss. From my first conversation with her, I could tell that she was unlike any other hairdresser that I had seen before. She made time for me on that same day (a Saturday) for a consultation. I was more than please when I met her and the girls in the salon, made me feel very comfortable as well! I got a spray tan from Marcy and loved it. This place is very homelike and welcoming, with a cute, comfy waiting room. Marcy was so friendly, gave me the proper instructions and it was clear she knew what she was doing. While waiting for the tan to develop the bronzer looks pretty dark, but don't worry- after a few hours you can shower & it rinses off to reveal a natural looking golden tan. The tan lasted just about a week despite swimming in the ocean and pools during my vacation. I was so happy with the results that I bought a package for more tans. I had purchased it less than 4 months ago and it had a bad bald spot. The last salon where I was a client told me they could do nothing to help me.
