Review Highlights - Meg Ryan Design

I tried on countless dresses and tons of bridal shops, without finding "the one." I'm so glad I found Meghan!

Another alterations person did a botch job on my wedding dress; with only two weeks until the big day, it was recommended by a second alterations person to buy another because fixing would be too big of a job, and maybe not possible. But not by Dena; Dena had the vision and confidence that she could fix my dress in time. She completely reconstructed the lace arms (adding extra fabric to a complicated lace pattern) and bodice/under-layer of my dress; I could lift my arms and my boobs didn't float like weird islands! She also saw that the bustle had been unevenly sewn and fixed with ease. If you're in a time crunch, do recommend proactively following up with Dena as she's a busy lady and things can move + shift in her day; a simple call in the morning to check-in did the trick for me! I took my dress to Dena to have hemmed as it was too long for my nieces posh wedding. Her set up…read morewas very professional and she was very nice as well. As I left, she said it wouldn't cost that much as it was just a hem. I told her when I needed the dress and was on my way. I picked up my dress a few weeks later and she charged me $90!!!! I couldn't believe it! I reminded her that she has said it wouldn't be much but she was firm on the price, so I paid and that is why I am only giving 3 stars. Her work was took notch, price...not so much.

Vacuum & Sewing Center - Store front

    Vacuum & Sewing Center

I have been driving past this store for over 14 years, it's practically an institution in town. I'm…read moredumbfounded no one has reviewed this place yet. Anyway, I wanted to start sewing again and decided to have my 30 years old plus Kenmore serviced. I needed everything oiled, cleaned, and lubed -- in the classic car world this is known as detailing -- the whole nine yards. If you want someone who knows about anything having to do with sewing machines or vacuum cleaners, go and see Joe. This gem of a shop is like going back in time. It's not one those slick and glamorous Mall stores but is kinda like something you'd find in Mayberry (the Andy Griffith show). Lots of machines in various states of repair, new merchandise for sale and the comforting smells of cleaners and such since the actual work is done in store. I took my sewing machine in on Friday morning and picked it up Saturday afternoon and wasn't charged Mall store prices. Very, very fair and reasonable prices and I swear it looked like it had been waxed and polished, like a new car right off the showroom floor. I'm a customer from now on, so go in and ask for Joe and he'll take real good care of you.

You know I have to give some props to Joe of the Vacuum service center. I've been into see him…read more multiple l times and I found him to be sort of like someone from my hometown in the Midwest. I don't know quite how to describe that... But it's not like a Californian... He's just a Midwestern cowboy like dude... I was looking for used vacuum and he gave me some valuable advice. He said why buy use vacuum when what I do is fix vacuums. Ha ha that's funny... Okay, Joe... I get that! He's quite a character... His shop is not pristine... But you're dealing with vacuums... What do you expect? If you need your vacuum fixed in the Watsonville area... Joe is THE person to see. He'll be honest and he'll do his personal best! What more can we ask? When you go there tell Joe Karen said hi! Tell him you read this review on yelp... Oh by the way... Joe not only fixes vacuums... he's also a handyman of sorts... He'll give you his card.
