He decided to try the sandwich. I got the boneless wings with hot sauce and we ordered Cajun tater tots to share. When we went to pick up, I was greeted right away, promptly checked out, and we were a little early, so the food wasn't quite ready. Several waitresses came by to check in with me while I waited and that was great to know they were on top of our order. Got home and opened all of our goods and were surprised at the generous portion sizes!! The chicken fried steak on the sandwich was pretty big, and my husband enjoyed it a lot. He said the only thing missing was a side of gravy. Noted for next time, order a side of gravy. The boneless wings were great. The hot sauce has a nice kick, but also a sweet undertone (apple or pineapple, perhaps?) that I really enjoyed. I could only eat half of the wings because the portion size was so big. I'm saving them for a midnight snack. The large Cajun tater tots were also generously portioned. We could only eat half of them, so they are also being saved for later. The Cajun seasoning is great. Not overdone and not too spicy (we were a little worried because my husband doesn't eat anything spicy) but he devoured them and said they were awesome. All in all, we'll definitely be back. We didn't drink, but it looked like a great atmosphere and they had a great selection of drinks, from what I saw. Good music playing, too.

My mom was visiting and I wanted to bring her by to try out the beer so we stopped by after bald hill hike. I tried the Orange wheat and wasn't a fan. I got the pilsner next and it was decent for a pilsner. Mom likes the Douglas fresh session and the river otter red. Not a fan of the bba. But that is all personal preference! Last time the pizza I got to go was decent. A little small and pricey but I ate it! They took a little longer than normal and were nice about it. Service depends on time and how busy they are. Today is slow but the staff seem busy. It took a bit to order. Maybe they have large group on the other side. There are two entrances and a dog friendly patio. The music is louder by the bar. Seating is comfy. Friendly bartender, Carl, was patient and accommodating

So many stars should you give to an out of the way, local, divey tavern? It depends, of course. A…read morelot of people might look at the basic menu, or the rustic surroundings, basic furnishings, and award their stars based on those considerations. So do I -- sometimes. But sometimes you walk into a place, feel the vibe, enjoy the situation, settle in with the locals, and tell yourself that life is good. I love a good local bar. As long as the locals are friendly, the service is decent, there are food options, and the place isn't disgustingly dirty, I am in. Alpine Tavern checked all of the boxes. Add in a horseshoe pit in the back and cheeseburgers on the menu, and Alpine Tavern is worth a stop in you ate in this neck of the woods.

Inside the very cute bar they offer pool and darts, outside there are wood chairs and benches and even corn hole that you can play for free. The homemade sauces are a must try, and every food item that we have ordered has been so delicious with flavor packed into every bite. The bartender Jennifer was so kind and helpful with any questions that we had, even letting us try things before ordering. It really is an unbeatable experience and we will definitely be coming back :))

I do not frequent bars, but I could hang out here, with pleasure. I went in on a Saturday…read moreafternoon because of my interest in the backstories surrounding the elaborate Victorian millwork at the counter and behind the bar. A genuinely amiable woman, not Ruth, the owner, made me welcome and showed me a typed page, protected by a plastic cover, primarily describing the long history of the building itself. The millwork is reputed to be one of two or three pieces extant--one other known, in Tony's Place in Dallas. The bartender did know the millwork was demountable, the wall unit in two pieces, if divided on a horizontal plane, and the counter, which deteriorated to the point it had to be covered with formica. Beer only, economical, cash only. Friendly, genteel, suitable for seniors not looking for noise or trouble. Menu probably minimal. Very glad I took the trouble to drop in.

I was surprised they didn't have any hard alcohol. Clean place, 6 or more lottery machines (good for the owner) but not interested in those. The bartender was nice and mixed between being behind the bar and playing pool with some patrons. Beer was fairly inexpensive and was a very comfortable vibe. But- I wish I could have grabbed a cocktail. I'm curious if it's always been a "tap room" which I find hard to believe. More like a 4.5, - had this been a true dive bar with some spirits, I would have given it a 5.

I have read many reviews online, and happened to be in the area around dinner time on a Saturday evening. We showed up at the right time, it wasn't quite packed yet. After we sat, a lot of locals started packing, in, and out. Even though they were so busy, the service didn't lack one bit. The women were on top of their game, and we had excellent service. The pizza was delicious, and had an amazing crust. I think we had the Benny's combo with pineapple added, and no onion on half. I took pics, but only after slices were taken. Will have to come back for more delicious pizza.
