I am not a fan of Meenan! Please read all the reviews. Meenan is horrible. High prices, terrible customer service, and extremely poor communication. Meenan has had a $100 credit on my account for over a year now and hasn't shown it on any billing statement. The bills crossed over and I paid both of them. They just held on to the money and didn't mention it until it was time to renew and tried to use it as a price reduction discount. I had to remind them that giving me back my money isn't really giving me anything, of course, I did not renew. They charge their current customers way more money than their new customers. I still haven't received the money they owe me. I am not a fan of Meenan! read more

Meenan Oil is the worst. Seems always more expensive than other companies. Sleezy, slow to respond and this Connecticut co. that bought smaller LOCAL companies that they hide from public. Sold us heater that didn't work. Their price for oil and service is higher than the other companies. Sales and service are less than honest and their staff are harsh and less than competent. They're other cos. they bought & own use 'original' names so customer ends up dealing with MEENAN anyway. Called three other local companies and Meenan was most expensive. Do your research and you will find Meenan is outrageously overpriced - by as much as a dollar per gallon. Think about it, if it's a dollar higher and you get 150 gallon delivery, wham, you just paid $150 extra. Don't let them sway you with the "full service" company line. The price per gallon of oil has no relation to the other services they may offer - any other heating service plan is under separate agreement and, they too are most likely higher than market fees. read more

We've been with Meean for more than 25 years, mainly because their service guys have done right by us a couple times now, but today, after years of double billing, missed deliveries and trying to install a new tank this year that resulted in destroying our basement and an EPA inspection, they let our tank run dry because "we havent had a tank inspection"... for a tank THEY JUST INSTALLED WHEN THE DESTROYED OUR BASEMENT! A tank inspected by them, the EPA and the Reclaimation company they did the cleanup from their disaster. And when we called, again, they had "no idea" about all of this, I swear they dont write anything down ever. More than frustrated, and this may be it for them, it's a shame because their service guys saved us a couple times, but it's not worth it anymore. read more

We chose meenan since previous owners had. Ok at first but frustration set in as time went on. A few yrs in, after a tech serviced, the water in our shower would go cold (or not very hot) and go back and forth every few min. When they came back out, they said the coil had to be replaced. I was on thier service plan or whatev and when i was being sold setting up, the sales rep told me that under the plan, everything with our boiler and tank would be covered. However, apparently that wasnt true and certain things are only covered.. the coil costing $1000 wasn't.. it wasn't just bout the money as i was more frustrated being in sales the last 15 yrs that I felt duped and left bad taste in my mouth. There were a couple times when we were almost out of oil and once when it went dry because they didn't deliver when supposed to. This was during winter snow storm and we just had a newborn. Most recently, i got call 3 wks ago because the smart plan we were on didn't account for the extra delivery we had last yr during covid and had a $900+ balance needing to be paid (on top of our monthly plan). I understand things happen and cant account for, but they shoud have something in their system to notify customers. I explained we were buying a house and would rather not have the funds come out all at once since thataccountis only used for certain bills. She said we could do over 4 months. 2 wks later, On a Fri, I get the autotext that the $900 will be debited the next day.. i called obviously not happy since $200 was just debited for the monthly plan and the rep said she saw my previous convo and would make sure it didnt get debited and the total balance numbers they had were also incorrect from what previous rep told me and had to be adjusted again. I made sure nothing else would be charged and that my service agreement was over and that I wanted nothing else from them and to make sure nothing was renewed or anything and my account wouldnt be debited- she confirmed (as did previous rep). Of course the debit of 900 happened the next day.. i called mon to see what happened and the service rep could only apologize. I expressed my feelings/frustration and asked again that nothing further would happen and he said 'well it seems we canceled the smart plan but that it was set to renew again in a few months'.. needless to say it was just another example of bad service and the company not being able to keep track of their CRM or something. Meenan customer service is worthless. Four calls during the week for an oil delivery and they put 6 gallons in to get through the weekend... we called 4 times starting on a Tuesday, what am I paying for with my contract Meenan, where's the customer service, how does that honor our "contract" with you?! In addition, someone was scheduled to come today 8-12pm for a repair, called and moved the appointment to 1-4, then called and rescheduled to tomorrow afternoon - waited all day but our time obviously isn't taken into consideration ... again, where's the customer service we're paying for with your contract Meenan?! With their "ceiling" plan you pay the ridiculous ceiling price for ALL oil deliveries, NOT less than the ceiling price unless the price of oil goes approximately $2 less than your ceiling price. I feel Meenan is unethical and prays on senior citizens and others who don't understand what they're getting into with these contracts. To get out of these ridiculous contracts, which obviously they don't have to abide by, they charge you $399. read more

I was surprised to read such complaints however, I only been a consumer for 10 months. I've had two service calls. Both times the customer service reps were courteous. Both times I recieved the same repair person John. John was knowledgeable, made suggestions, repaired the problem, respected my home and cleaned up. If you value honest and fair business practices, if you value control over your monthly expenses, if you value the right to exclude trespassers from your property, then do not even considering using Meenan for your heating oil! Don't become another victim of a Meenan yearly contract that carries a $399. cancellation fee. We moved to Worcester, PA at the end of June, and received mailings from Meenan in July advertising a summer special on heating oil. We allowed Meenan to fill our oil tank, and were told that we should call them when we wanted more oil. We then installed an electric heat pump and an electric hot water heater and fully insulated our attic to minimize our oil use. None of this matters, because Meenan is going to deliver oil to us whether we want it or not and whether we need it or not. Moreover, we do not trust the amount Meenan says they are pouring in our tank without our consent. Meenan's first unannounced, unexpected delivery occurred yesterday. After hearing an odd noise for a few seconds, I ran outside and found a Meenan truck in our driveway, and the driver was already inserting a bill in our door. I have no idea if he actually poured any oil in our tank. Although I told him we didn't order this and didn't want this, he told me that I have no control over getting a delivery and he has to deliver what the company instructs him to deliver. I immediately called Meenan customer service, and was told we have a contract saying that they will deliver without any notice when they choose to deliver for a year. They also told me that if we try to terminate the contract, there is a $399. termination fee. The problem is we never signed any such contract. We were also never verbally told any of this. My husband and I have spoken to customer service representatives multiple times since yesterday. We told them that we have no contract from them. They told us that they emailed my husband a contract in July which he signed. All my husband ever signed in July was a bill. They finally emailed us a click-wrap agreement that was not the document that my husband had signed. Meenan switched the agreement to different terms. By my husband signing the click wrap agreement, Meenan could have substituted any contract and locked us in. In essence, my husband signed a blank check to them. By signing a click wrap agreement, we agreed to ANY terms and are being told this 4 months after the fact. Instead of a year, Meenan could have switched it to 2 years, 5 years, or 10 years at any price. We don't know what is going to happen. We don't know if Meenan will release us early from their outrageous click wrap agreement. We don't know how often Meenan will be delivering oil against our will. We don't know if Meenan will be delivering 10 gallons of oil and charging for 100 gallons. What we do know is that we are being scammed and other homeowners are also being scammed by Meenan. Read the other reviews. Imagine this analogy. When you are out driving your car, you get to decide when to fill up your gas tank and you get to pick the gas station of your choice. We were told that's what would happen when we allowed Meenan to fill our oil tank in July. However, without our consent or knowledge, by clicking on essentially an agreement to anything, Meenan says we gave them permission to show up unannounced, whenever they choose to, and charge us for filling our tank without real proof that they are actually filling it. If this analogy seems absurd to you, then please do not even consider using Meenan for heating oil. Instead choose a local company that is fair and honest. And never sign a click wrap agreement, because you are agreeing to a blanket anything and everything! read more

My family has been patronizing Meenan for many years. My dad decided to purchase oil from them years ago and my mom has since carried on. My dear dad is no longer amongst us. May his sweet soul rest in peace. My family has never had an issue with Meenan. When they schedule an appointment, Meenan is always on time, they start and complete their job and they are out in record time!! They always leave receipt in door and we do not have to be at home!!! That is the best part!!! I wanted to give a shout-out to Paula in the accounts payable department. They no longer accept payment in person. Paula disclosed that to me when we bumped into each other at Planet Fitness in Drexel Hill one Saturday morning. One of my jobs is Personal Fitness Trainer. But when Meenan did accept payment in person, Paula was our go-to-person. Paula was always friendly, pleasant, sociable and a huge asset to Meenan. Paula has been a faithful, loyal and dedicated employee of Meenan for over thirty years. I miss going to the office. I always paid the bill for my mom and Paula and I would talk forever - we played catch up on all of our favorite activities. I have had Meenan as my oil provider for over 30 years. The past few years, when the weather is bad, they've been terrible. I have run out of oil several times. When I called today at 6:00 am, I was told I am scheduled for a delivery today. As it was getting late, I called several times and was assured the delivery was happening today. I just called again at 7:00 pm and was told they are done delivering for the day. A technician put 10 gallons of oil in my tank to restart the furnace at 3:00 in the afternoon. I explained to them yet again that the 10 gals will not last overnight as it is a 100 year old, 3 story, 13 room house and the oil will be out by midnight. read more

They will see how badly they can rip you off before offering you a better deal to stay. I've been getting heating oil deliveries from Meenan ever since we moved into our new house at the end of 2014. They've always been a bit higher than market price, but the final straw was the un-scheduled fill up they decided to 'gift' me with in the beginning of December 2017 - $3.49/gallon charged when the COD oil delivery price was $2.70-$2.75/gallon. Called to cancel my service with them and immediately got transferred to retention (just like a big cable company), where I was offered $2.89/gallon to stay. If I could give meenan a 1/2 star I would. They are consistently unloyal, unprofessional and lack customer service. I was scheduled for a tune up and service call today. This has been scheduled since November 2018. The manager gave me this day and horribly hours for a working person (12-3pm). The only hours they had. I called Monday 4/22/2019 @ 12:31pm to confirm service 12-3pm. At 2:54pm I called to see where the technician is at. The female states she has a note for them to come close to 4pm. The person who scheduled me stated they don't schedule appointments pass 3pm, so how do they have a note to come closer to 4pm. This happened before and meenan never serviced my unit, and I paid for it. The time before that the tech came late and did a 14 - 17 point check up in 25 minutes. So Meenan has robbed me twice and it seems like this is going to happen again. All I ask was for consistency and consideration for my time. I took off my job. Used a vacation day to get this tune up. Now how do I get compensated for my time lost? People, if you are under contract with meenan, stay on top of it. Write names down and keep track of your oil delivery. I was charged for oil I did not get, I couldn't prove it so I had to pay. My proof was my gate is locked and someone have to open gate for delivery. No one was home. Keep notes of who you talk to. Not that it mattered in my case because, the rep said to me she don't see notes of my conversation two days ago. Meenan work on customer service. Ya'll are forcing me to change over to gas heat and forgo oil. read more

I have been a Meenan home heating oil customer since 2002...11 years with a brief 8 month interruption when I converted my property into a rental. In February 2013, the property reverted back to a primary residence and I entered into a new heating contract with Meenan Oil for one year. The initial oil delivery was at $4.199/gallon and I put a capped contract in place capping at $4.699/gallon. My understanding was that the contract with Meenan was the lower of market or cap for future deliveries. Well, was I wrong. I just had 78 gallons of oil delivered in October 2013 at $4.499/gal which is $0.30 HIGHER than what I paid in February while oil prices since February have DROPPED $0.60-0.70 per gallon. In re-reading the Meenan contract I have come to find that the, and I quote, "Your actual delivered price, which includes the cost of the ceiling protection, will vary based on market conditions including, but not limited to, product availability, wholesale cost and (I love this) other factors, but will not exceed the ceiling price." When I called Meenan, they could not give me a valid breakdown of how my $4.499/gallon price was determined just that it based on the cost when I put the contract in place despite that dramatic decline in oil prices. So in other words, any future oil pricing was going to be a black box pricing. What GALLS and APPALS me is that the price was $0.30 MORE than what I paid when oil prices were dramatically higher. Meenan did offer to lower the price and put a new cap contract in place BUT ONLY if I signed a new one year contract which would take me to 11/2014... H**L NO. When I asked if my future delivery prices would be at the lower of market or cap if I took the new contract, Roseanne told me that it would be $0.14 above market per gallon. When I asked if that would be in the contract she said, "Well all our conversations are recorded." When I said I wanted it explicitly written in the contract, she put me on hold to check and when she came back on the line, she quickly said, "no...BUT here's all the reasons you want to stay with Meenan." Oh, did I mention that the fee to cancel the contract early is $399?!?! Needless to say, I am going to ride out the current contract until 3/1/2014, use as little oil as possible given that I'm paying OVER INFLATED PRICES per gallon and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER call Meenan again...except to cancel the contract since they won't take a forward dated cancelation. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS...there are FAR BETTER AND CHEAPER oil companies that offer price protection plans that are simply the lower of current market price OR cap whichever is cheaper and don't have some convoluted pricing that requires a PhD in derivative mathematics to determine. Oh and one oil company I spoke with told me I was the 6th or 7th Meenan customer to call them this week to switch service so I know I am not the only one in the area that is being gouged by this company. we did not have a contract with meenan oil; they have a $600 contract cancellation policy. we did not renew our contract, because we were switching heating sources. they showed up to our house and put $600 of oil in our tank, and sent us a bill, when we did not ask for it. they told us it would cost too much for them to come get it, and that we had to pay for $600 of oil we did not ask for. do not use meenan. they use shady predatorial business techniques. they fill your tank when you do not want oil and then send you a bill, with no warning or phone call or even ringing the doorbell. meenan is a sneaky business and very predatorial. do not use meenan. i repeat please, if you have any common sense, do not use meenan, they are sneaky and morally bankrupt. read more

Loyal customer for years and the day after contract expired they were there filling up my tank at the height of an oil price when I had more than a half a tank. No courtesy call on delivery and when I received a call from their retention department to keep as a customer she was rude. I will never do business with Meenan again!!! read more

We just bought our first house we go to turn on the heat for the first time and the expansion tank broke on a Saturday. We call out Meenan to fix it it should be completely covered by our contract I was told and that a Tech would be out to fix it that day. The tech arrived and fix the issue told me it was going to be over $1000 for the repair. I said I have a contract for the repair and the parts should be covered. The Tech said I needed to call Billing to get more information Monday. I called Monday the customer service team said it should have been covered under our contract and they would have the supervisor call me. He never called me until my Fiancée submitted a bad rate on their survey. Finally the supervisor called me back told me they would cover everything except for 50% of the emergency release valve. I thought was the end great. I was wrong they never credited my account back. I called again the customer service person said they only credited $95 to the account. I said I was told the whole repair was covered except for 50% of the emergency release valve. They tried calling the supervisor again he didn't answer. I still haven't gotten my first oil fill from them. I'm really frustrated that I have to keep calling and not getting anywhere. If I could compare Meenan they are the Comcast of the Oil company's. read more

Not everyone has the luxury of an entire day to sit around waiting for an AC service. Meenan's window of 8-6 means people who work have to use vacation time to wait. I have now been stuck at home on a vaca day for 6 hours, unable to even run errands for fear I'll miss the technician. I called Meenan to see if they can narrow down a time and am told, "sometime this afternoon, weather permitting." If I had known that it would be an afternoon appoinment, I could have taken a half day. To make matters worse, there are storms coming. So maybe Meenan will come, maybe I will have to reshedule and waste another vacation day. Meenan, get your act together. Most companies give people a 4 hour window, not an all day one. Better yet, maybe I'll spend all this time researching other companies to give my HVAC/Oil service to. UPDATE 9/4/15: Meenan must be like a bad cult. Once you tell them you want out, they bombard you with phone calls. I've had multiple messages almost every day on my voicemail from this company asking me to stay, and they continued to call even AFTER I asked to close my account (about 2 weeks ago) and get a refund of my overpayment. Still no refund of MY money, and at this point I feel like I'm being harrassed. Awful, awful, AWFUL company. UPDATE: 9/29/15: Well over a month and Meenan still has not refunded my overpayment. I received a partial check last week with no explanation as to why they only paid 2/3 of what they owed me back. This is now the second time I have had to call them to find out where my money is over a month after I closed my account. When I called, they (conveniently) said the second part of my refund was mailed that day from another department. Still no check nearly a week later. I asked them to close my account way back in August. Here it is nearly October and this horrible company still has my money. read more

Meenan has not filled my oil this season without my calling them to tell them I am almost out of oil and once on the day of our big snow storm we went bone dry. I just called to tell them I am almost out and the best I can get is "we will fill by Sat". What if I am out before then? I have lived in my home 27 years and never ran out of oil. But, never had Meenan before. On the day of the snow It took three hours to get oil, my pipes froze and when the delivery man came he told me he was never told I was bone dry. I have a 24 hour 7 days a week contract with them. But, Via phone I was told how to restart my heaters. That didn't work. They wanted to send someone out the following day despite my telling them my husband is a sick man, we were already below 50 degrees in the house & I had frozen pipes. Then they finally sent a tech out who told me there is no way a home owner could restart the heater. The air had to be drained from the system and then the herter had to be primed and started. He did all that (I recognized him as an old Skelton oil tech). Then they tried to bill me for the tech despite my contract and for heaven's sake their error in not filling timely. I have just told them they should rehire the Skelton people they let go because they knew what they were doing. I have had oil delivery service with Meenan the last 2 years. They come about 1 a month in the winter to fill up the oil tank. We ran out of oil over the weekend and tried calling for delivery on Saturday night. After being on hold over an hour and 15 minutes we finally reached someone who said they would come on Sunday at 12. No one ever showed up or called. They finally called back Monday saying someone was coming over. Fortunately we had gotten another company to deliver on Sunday. Tried to cancel my service with them and just get a busy signal all day on their main number. read more

I was a long time valued customer whose tank they let run dry while on auto fill. Many other incidents to long to mention regarding service calls on a brand new heater! I was speaking with a friend who advised me they put her new heater in UPSIDE DOWN! Yes you read that right! I finally got off my lazy tush and let my lady contract run it's course! Did my homework and found a,wonderful company costing less in both oil per gallon and contract and am receiving WHITE GLOVE SERVICE! First, I did not have complaints until today. And in consideration of the cold weather, I expected they could not come out right away. However, we have an oil heater delivery and service contract and of course, with the temp at 0, I'm sure MANY are having the same issue. Our heater stopped at 7am and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the freezing temps. We have half a tank of oil because they always deliver as needed and I want to definitely give them credit there. We called about our heater this morning and were told to let the faucets drip and they would be out in the morning. Very upsetting. We called another local place and he explained what my husband should do to heat up the outside lines and said he would be in the area later and would call to make sure it worked. Yes I had to talk to the general manger. He was helpful however to get on budget billing I have to pay in full and my budget bill by next month. I received 199 galons of oil when i requested 100 so it did not kill me in the costs. I went over to the credit department and the manager was horrible. This is the worst company with the worst service department and the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with being in the real estate profession for 18 years. This company went out to my client's home for a routine annual service, and in the process they SHUT OFF HER FURNACE when the temperatures were in the 40's because they said the chimney was unsafe. Plus he never told my client what he did or why he did it - she found out when the house started to get very cold and then she looked at the invoice he left and it said he shut it off!!! OK, The worse part is the they didn't get the chimney people out to do the repair for 6 days - and this was after a lot of calling and complaining on my client's part!! And then she had to pay to restart/prime the system!! The temperature in the house was in the low 40's and they did nothing to help her - and did I mention my client is 80 years old!!! On top of everything else, the house was for sale and under contract and inspections were scheduled for 2 days later so since the technician shut off the furnace and Central Air (which has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHIMNEY) the buyer's inspector was unable to inspect the AC or furnace, costing my client more money because she now has to supply the buyers with a home warranty. I also asked Meenan to come back out to the house to do an AC inspection to provide to the buyers, at buyers request, and they can't accommodate us to have it done in a timely manner before settlement. Considering they left my client in a home without heat for 6 days, and cost her a lot of extra money on the sale of her house, you would think she would have been a priority above everyone else. I would NEVER use Meenan - EVER and will NEVER recommend them to any of my clients or friends.If you had a zero star option I would use that. read more

We were offered $100 towards our first service. We used it towards filling our Oil tank. We did not sign a contract, nor did we lock into a rate. Within 2-3 weeks after filling our oil tank, Meenan showed up at our house and filled the tank again (using whatever rate oil was for that day) -- without our knowledge or consent. We paid the bill for that 2nd service, despite not requesting it. Afterwards, my husband called them and asked them to please do not come out to our house without our consent, and told them we no longer wish to use their service. A few weeks later, we received a bill for the $100 credit we were initially offered. We have never signed a contract, and therefore I refused to pay it. Meenan then sent the bill ($114) to a collection agency, so my husband reluctantly paid it. Please do not use this company. We have since found Ferrante & Sons Inc. and could not be happier with their service. read more

On 1/18/2019 I signed a heating oil delivery agreement for the period 1/18/2019 through 1/31/2020. On 10/4/2019, I notified Meenan via email to terminate the agreement at the end of the current pricing period with the exact message "Please terminate my oil delivery agreement as of 1/31/2020, the end of the current pricing period". The agreement states that an early termination fee applies if the contract is terminated prior to the end of the current pricing period, 1/31/2020. I received an email reply saying that they have "placed a stop on my account". I received no more deliveries from them. On 1/22/2020, I received an invoice in the mail from Meenan for a $399 "Early Termination Fee". I emailed Meenan, reminding them of the notification I gave them to terminate the agreement at the end of the current pricing period. We signed up for a contract ( auto fill) Dec 4th 2013. The contract is not to benefit the homeowner and there is nothing "budget friendly" about the Meenan contracts! We paid the monthly fee, only to still owe over $2000 dollars at the end of the year. I called and said we can't afford the oil anymore and please stop delivering any more until we pay down the balance.... They stated we have no choice, and they will not stop. I was in disbelief! How can they do this? And, how is the contract 13 months when Its only a year contract? They lie! Do not trust the sales people! Their "budget" contract is for Meenan"s benefit! And it allows them to fill your tank as much as they want, in order to sell oil without limitation! They won't listen or care if you can't afford to buy anymore oil! They also threatened to charge us a termination fee if they stop the auto fill... Our contract price was $3.49 a gallon... Current price $2.79 to 2.99 a gallon... I would NEVER sign contracts for automatic delivery with Meenan again!!! read more

Today is the 5th day that i called all phone numbers that i had or find in internat. No answer. I went to find their location in king of prussia i foud it is appartment complex. They owe us $ 1500 since i pay them every month for winter time. They disapeared???????!!!!!!!! I called consumer protection. I do not have oil for five days and i have a very sick husband at home. We should do something before we loso our health and mony. read more

If I could give 0 I would. They decided to come and fill our tank on the day that it was almost empty. The delivery guy could not deliver because he said snow was blocking the gate - so guess what? we ran out of oil. They should not be waiting until the last possible day to deliver fuel. Called Meenan and they promised 20 gallons to get me through a day when they could deliver again. They only brought 10 gallons and guess what ... we ran out of oil again so I called again for a delivery. finally got oil but now need a tech to prime the system so we have no heat. We have to call an independent person to get the system running -$300 later for same day service. My house is 59 degrees and I have my elderly father here. Called several times over the weekend and was on hold for 30 mins after getting a constant busy signal for 30 or so attempts! I will NOT be renewing with them. Go somewhere else. read more

I wanted to follow up and say while my initial experience was unacceptable, Meenan has gone out of their way to make things better. They sent out an emergency technician to get us some oil after our tank ran out so we would make it through the night, and a truck came the following day to fill the tank. They even refunded that months payment! It should never have gotten to that point, but they made an effort to fix their mistakes and that deserves at least a star. read more

Had plumbing service done this AM. A pipe broke and we were without running water since Sunday afternoon. We could utilize water but then the leaky pipe would emit water also. Luckily it was in the crawl space under the house. Meenan customer service couldn't have been nicer. The rep was able to get a heating tech out Sunday afternoon and he determined what the problem was and report that to Meenan. The plumbing service does not have emergency plumbers on call so we had to wait until Monday to speak to the rep from the plumbing service in UpperDarby,PA. She scheduled us ASAP and indicated that as long as the plumber finished his previous job on Monday he would come to our house next. Unfortunately his job took longer then was anticipated. The rep from Upper Darby kept us informed most of the day on Monday as to his progress on his first scheduled job. We managed well enough without running water and first thing Tuesday Tim, tech #3 was here. Pipe was repaired and water pressure was checked as well. He was polite and cleaned up after himself. My husband and I were more then satisfied with the work and the caring customer service we received. read more
