I had injured my knee, again, and really needed to have it looked at. This place was open and convenient and looked like there was no wait time. I was wrong. I understand it is an emergency-like center but only having 1 person who can deal with customers doesn't seem good. I don't have an answer for staffing but the wait took a long time as person after person came it and was bumped ahead of me due to their injuries. I am NOT saying it was wrong for folks hurt more than me to be looked at first, but having a wait time of under 10 min go nearly to 2 hours was a bit much. The person who checked me out, Jason, was extremely professional. He wanted to make sure he understood what was wrong and worked to fix it. There was no rush to get me healed/fixed and move on (probably part of the reason for the wait). Maybe if they could clone Jason.... My experience at the MedSpring Burnet location could not have been any better. Joseph, the receptionist, was very kind and friendly, and I was seen immediately after filling out paperwork. Upon leaving, he wished me luck in my recovery and was all smiles. Celina was very kind and welcoming and made me feel very comfortable, and went above and beyond to recommend me the proper allergy relief on top of my prescribed medications. Additionally, Dr. Jason Cline was very kind, and truly listened to my concerns and responded accordingly. Additionally, I received a follow-up call from MedSpring to check on my recovery, which was very professional and kind. If you go for stitches you will be billed twice (once for the stitches and once for removal). The second visit may not be covered by insurance, so it may be $100 (full price) instead of your copay. Instead of paying one $75 copay, I paid $175!!!! And the extra $100 doesn't apply to my deductible or out-of-pocket max because it was a denied claim. CareNow used to include removal in the first payment, but now bills for the removal visit. Its competitors do not. Try Remedy (house calls) or even an ER, neither of which charges for the return visit. read more

The PA Heather Cain and the nurse were awesome to the point that my regular doctor was impressed with their service and what they prescribed when when I followed up with him. After a night of intense ear pain and sinus pressure, I went to urgent care because I had a plane to catch and my doctor's office opened after I had to leave. When I arrived, the nurse was super helpful and told me there was an hour wait. I asked if I could get my name on the waitlist and come back as I still needed to do some packing. She actually helped me out and gave me an appointment that was an hour later, which assured that I would be seen on time. I left and went to finish my packing and came back at the time of the appointment and was seen pretty fast. From there, the PA came in and checked me out and immediately diagnosed me with a perforated ear drum and ear infection that were caused by my severe congestion. She was super helpful and answered all my questions, including whether I could fly. She gave me several medications and explained why she was prescribing it and how they would help. She also recommended a steroid shot as I couldn't really breathe and I was flying. She also gave me tips on how to deal with the flight. The nurse gave me the shot and made sure I was okay. She also immediately got my prescriptions to my pharmacy as I was trying to make a flight and followed up with me to make sure everything was okay with my prescriptions. They sent the records to my doctor since I was supposed to follow up with him. Overall, a very positive experience. read more

Screw this place before they screw you! "We'll bill you later," they said. So, yes, they do "bill you later" so they can charge double what you should pay for an urgent care visit. My insurance card says I am to pay a $45 co-pay, but MedSpring billed me $95.90! Now, here's the kicker.... They send me the bill (dated 05/27/18) which was received 6/1/18. I call them up and tell them to make a note that I will be paying $49.90 which is for my co-pay and the urinalysis they supposedly did. Seems fair. So, here we are on June 13, 2018, and while reconciling my bank account I find that they have charged my card $95.90. No heads-up. Nothing mentioned about a charge date on the bill they sent. It hasn't even been 30 days! I call up and after 15 or so minutes, get a worker via their toll free line. She says that they charge people's cards if not paid after 90 days! WHAT THE HELL?!?!? It hasn't been 90 days any way you look at it. Date of service: 4/21/18. Not even 60 days! Date of bill (first time I ever knew what was due): 5/27/18. Not even 20 days! These people are a total scam and I will make sure to let everyone know to skip out on this business. Hurt? Go to the damn hospital and call it a day. Can't say enough good things about my experience here! The PA, Rosas-Moreno, was so nice. He took a lot of time to sit with me and explain my illness. The staff made me laugh while taking my vitals, making me forget how gross I was feeling! I really appreciated their level of attentiveness. Some people were complaining about the wait ... but have you never been to an urgent care facility before?! They have online reservations now. So I just reserved online for about an hour out and showed up 10 minutes before. I filled out all the info, paid, and was taken back right away. Last ditch effort when I can't be seen by my PCP....I have been here several times before, all hours of the day. but today was the absolute worse: -walked in and I was literally one of two people in the lobby...1.5 hr wait, I was told. Fine....even though I feel like death, I have no other options. I am desperate. -Wait in the lobby in the most uncomfortable chairs ever. they are like hard rocks and do not allow you to rest comfortably, especially for a 1.5 hr wait!! It is 1:33pm....we are at the 2 hr wait mark now.... I have seen 4 people who checked in online come in, pay, and get sent to the back immediately. I understand the online check in process, but I was unable to do that this morning. It feels demeaning to be passed up over and over all while my fever rises and I am trying my best not to spew flu germs all over the lobby. 1:57pm. I decided to politely ask the front desk lady about how to go about the complaint process. With a high fever and raging headache, I knew that if I wasn't careful, I'd come across as rude. So my words exactly..."Hey look, I know it's not your fault and when you're busy you're busy. But it has been over 2 hours..." She doesn't let me finish before she goes on the defensive..."Sir, I told you it would be a wait when you first got here". I then commence to losing my ever-loving feverish mind. I tried to be as calm and reasonable, but when you don't even let me finish my sentence and hear me out especially after waiting over two hours when you initially said it would proably be under 1 hr?! Nope. I'm done with you. Even very simple customer service tactics could have diffused the situation and my frustrations....A simple, "Sorry, I can't begin to imagine how sitting on the most uncomfortable chairs for 2 hrs while your fever blooms just feel". Long story short, I request the best way to vent my frustrations to someone that matters...and what does she do? Reaches over and grabs a generic business card...and says, call that number to file a complaint. 2:01pm- two hours and twenty seven minutes later. I repeat: TWO HOURS AND TWENTY SEVEN MINUTES LATER, I am led back to an empty room and given a $5 Starbucks card as an apology. I don't care about that at this point. I will likely drop it in the trash on the way out. 2:30p- finally get to see the NP...brief visit, but at least he was kind and understanding. This place is a nightmare. Came here once about 6 months ago for strep throat and the parking lot was empty so I was hopeful I would be seen quickly. Filled everything out on the iPad and got taken right back. Things were looking okay. After a flu test and a strep test were taken I was told 20 minutes max for the results. 45 minutes later the PA comes in to tell me both tests are negative. She looks in my throat and says, "yep, that's strep" and sends me on my way. I asked her which antibiotics I needed and she disappeared for a few minutes and then came back in and told me. A bit concerning she didn't know off the top of her head. Had the PA come in first thing, we could have saved 45 minutes and the discomfort of the tests. Here we are today: 2 hours 15 min after my "appt" which means nothing here, the NP finally came in. There were apparently 3 people in front of me and I was told that it would be an hour by the nurse. The wait times here are awful and the providers are subpar. Also both times there was no doctor in the building...just a PA or an NP who were both young and seemed to lack confidence. I respect both of these practitioners but I would feel more confident if there was a doctor around if they had a question. Don't come here unless you absolutely have to. They also collected my copay in advance so I couldn't leave if I wanted to. read more

Please be aware of something they do not tell you at the outset: this is like a mini, faster ER and the costs reflect that. Its not simply a walk-in primary care clinic. They do not get a co-pay up front, so you may be surprised in the end. To expand on costs for the exact same service at vs a primary care clinic: - At a Austin Regional clinic (ARC) on Far West in January - walk in to see a doc, get a DX and get antibiotics. Total cost: $20.00 - At Medspring in February (its been a rough winter) - walk in to see a doc, get a DX and get antibiotics: $50, and then another $100 a month later, and I have good insurance. Total cost, $150.00. Perhaps I'm the idiot because the word "Urgent" is in the name, so learn from my idiocy and unless you're bleeding out and its after hours, wait for ARC (theres one on far west) or another primary care walk-in clinic to open (and ARC has weekend and extended hours). p.s. Also its worth noting I also waited a LOT longer than at ARC here, so if I HAD been secretly bleeding out, I might have died. read more

I was experiencing some side pain for a few days, at first I thought I just slept wrong. Then I got a pretty high, uncomfortable fever and knew something was wrong. As someone without insurance, I didn't have too many options, and I certainly didn't want to go to the emergency room. Maybe it was the fact that it was early in the day (about 3pm) but it was empty when we got there and I was seen as soon as I finished my paperwork. The nurse practitioner (?) was super friendly and quick about taking my vitals. Doctor came in less than a couple of minutes after, was pretty quick in her diagnoses, prescribed me what I needed and I was out in less than an hour. I was expecting it to be more expensive than what it was, but it wasn't! They only charge me to see the physician as the only other thing was take a urine test. 10/10 :) read more

Synopsis: These people do not care about you, just your pocket book. This is a perfect example of medical practitioners blatantly ignoring what's best for patient care. "What's best for patient care"... The most important aspect of practicing medicine. At least one would assume. However, here, the primary concern is fiscal. Dollars are more important than Patients. I was treated last week for a deep laceration to my right index finger. The cut was so bad, it had to be cauterized with silver nitrate. The pain was excruciating as I received no anesthetic. At the end of the visit, the "Doctor" had said to me, "Consider your wound to be a third degree burn". I was prescribed 5 days of antibiotics, and nothing for the pain of the third degree cauterization of my charred inner finger flesh.l which was now on fire. 5 days later, when the antibiotics ran out, I called to see if they could be renewed noticing signs of possible infection. Apparently, the guy who treated me wasn't in that day. Due to his absence, I was told I'd have to pay the upfront $165 for a re-evaluation to possibly renew my $4 prescription of antibiotics. That's all I wanted, and that's all the prescription cost. My original bill last week was $270. Now, I'm expected to pay $165 to have a physician spend 4 seconds looking at my finger, and confirming my request? This is absolutely asinine, and in my opinion medical extortion. These people should be absolutely ashamed. I understand running a business, but this is absolutely sad, and unnecessary. read more

I debated going into the emergency room for horrible stomach cramping, but decided to go to MedSpring instead to see if it may just be a stomach bug. I went in at 8:00 on Saturday evening and it was clear no one wanted to be there. I was talked at by the nurse and then physician assistant. Once the nurse left the room I heard her discussing my low heart rate very loudly ( I could hear behind closed doors) My low heart rate or their concern or lack there of was never addressed with me. The doctor came in and again talked at me loudly and rude. He did a half ass examination and said well... if it doesn't get better go to the emergency room. RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY! I would highly recommend finding a physician instead of going to this facility. I went the first time and saw a "doctor" who did not even care to give me the flu test (yes, they had them in stock at this time) after I explained my symptoms and what I believed it was. He sent me home with a sinus infection. 2 days later, I had to go back and get the flu test and it came back positive. At that point, you are not sure if tamiflu will work or not. WORST CARE I HAVE EVER HAD (2/28) I went back again at around 7:45pm when they close at 8, because I got the flu again and the same "doctor" was working. They did not have any flu tests, but he ensured me that he would call in tamiflu. I got to the pharmacy (we confirmed the pharmacy and location) and they never received it. I called and left a message (they were closed by this point) and still have not received a call back! Eran Wu has been negligent not once, but twice, and I am going to file a formal complaint. I just had the best experience at the MedSpring Urgent Care on Burnet Road. After deciding that my allergies weren't going to get better on their own, I called MedSpring to make sure they accepted my insurance, and then made an appointment online. They put me in an exam room as soon as I completed their check-in forms on a tablet. I barely had time to look at my phone before a nurse (Veronica) came in to take my vitals. A few minutes later, the physician's assistant (Jason Cline) assessed my situation and prescribed the appropriate meds with absolutely no condescension or impatience. This was so much better than trying to find a doctor who is (1) taking new patients, (2) accepts my insurance, and (3) could see me today. 100% positive experience - and plenty of free parking. read more

Slow as can be. Came in with a bleeding head, A BLEEDING HEAD, and was forced to wait for at least 30 minutes with only one other patient on the facility. Apparently dealing with blood made the doctor uncomfortable because she had to leave the room to change her coat after my blood got on her. Eventually she pulled the scab off, became alarmed by the blood (DUH) then told me to go to the ER after I asked when I arrived if they could do staples for the wound and they confirmed they could. For a location this size a staff of three (one receptionist, one nurse, and one doctor) is too small. My wife waited 2.5 hours before finally being seen by the doctor, which is just about as far as you can get from urgent for an urgent care clinic. To add insult to injury, we were quoted a waiting time of 30 to 40 minutes when we arrived. I would avoid this location until they increase the staff. I was previously a big fan of their locations in Houston and Round Rock, but I am not so sure I will be returning to this chain. read more
