I first heard about Medieval Times because of a YouTube video showcasing unique restaurants. I told my boyfriend about it, and he was like "I know and I've been to Medieval Times plenty of times in the past." I had no idea it was in SoCal so we got to go here for dinner one night while we were in town during Labor Day weekend. He bought tickets for us online for a Friday night. They have a parking lot with people directing where to park. It was busy with lots of people waiting in line. A great deal of people dressed up! Nice. We didn't dress up. Lol.. I had brought a dress that could work, but I didn't change into it. Inside the dining room, it was freezing! Super cold. I'm glad that I was wearing my jacket, but my boyfriend was feeling pretty cold. I'm not a fan of eating with my hands so I wasn't too thrilled about the eating experience, but... that's why I brought handsanitizer. Plus, they also provided hand wipes as well so that was good. The food... We really liked the chicken. It was tender fall off the bone and flavorful. The other items were pretty good as well. Service was attentive and pretty friendly. We were seating with this group of people who were probably GenZers. They were super enthusiastic and kept "scuba-ing" and yelling absurd phrases. Smh... I enjoyed the experience of seeing the show. Everything was well-thought and the performance is great and automatic. I enjoyed how the night played out and how the facility is structured to serve and entertain the guests. Medieval Times definitely is doing things well. I went with my family and we all had a great time. The food was good and filled me up and to-go boxes were provided if needed. Drinks were priced reasonably and merchandise is readily available to purchase. The facility looks and feels in good repair and for how long this business has been opened, it looks good. Bathrooms were kept clean and are in working order. The arena is well equipped with sound and lights and I didn't feel like there is a bad seat. The performing artists were entertaining and gave us a good show! My advice would be to have fun with it, go with a group if possible and to dress up! We came here with the family and this was our first time experiencing Medieval Times dinner and tournament. We were so excited and didn't know what to expect. Get here early for ample time to park and check in! It was so cool to see some folks all dressed up for the medieval times occasion! You're seating to the respective night color section and that's the knight you'll root for. There is an assigned server for each section to deliver your feast: tomato bisque, toasted garlic bread, roasted chicken (by golly it was big!!), sweet buttered corn, herb-based potato, and super mini chocolate eclair, and a beverage of our choice. Overall the food was decent. I loved the toasted garlic bread, sweet corn and chicken. The chicken was well seasoned and not too dry. (I guess it could be a hit or miss based on some of the reviews.) The overall atmosphere is exciting, eclectic, and full of energy vibes. You're transformed back to the medieval times once the show begins! Haven't been since I was a child. We had a great time and a good date night! The food is just as good as I remember. The chicken is so juicy and flavorful. The seasoning on the potatoes make me want to replicate it at home. The tomato soup and garlic bread are a classic. The eclair was a good finish. I want to start by saying this is my review for a large group. I think it's very different for a much smaller group. I had a group of almost 30 for my Birthday go. Their website directed me to contact them via email which I barely got a response from them. I ended up just booking myself. I called to add an extra ticket later they told me our rows were guaranteed since we were such a large group but when we were waiting outside these women working there were rushing us to get in the line so we missed having some people in our group photo which I'm still bummed about. I wasn't even aware that was a thing, so unsure why they rushed us. So it was very confusing? I found everything about getting to watch the show overwhelming. Also there wasn't a lot of space outside for a large group to gather before coming in. When finally inside we found our seats and I went to the bar and it was already closed down and I had to order at my seat. Okay. Ordered at my seat took like 20 minutes to get my beer. Unsure why they don't have at least one bar going during the show. The food was better than I thought! The show was so fun! My friend payed for me to get knighted but again very overwhelming leaving after the show super crowded indoors and the paper I was given said arrive by 9:10 or you forfeit it. Well we didn't get out of the show until after that and the king and queen didn't come out until well after that. So anyway just know if you're coordinating with a large group it's very overwhelming and a bit confusing but otherwise we had a blast! read more

Lived in so cal my whole life and finally made it to Medieval times for my mom's 79th birthday celebration! We opted in for one of their VIP packages, which was really nice. We all got a copy of a group photo, had really good seats, a slice of cake was added to our dessert, and they announced my mom's birthday during the show. The show itself was very entertaining. I enjoyed seeing the horses doing some tricks and the "fighting". The service was great too. Better than at a restaurant LOL! The food itself was filling and pretty good. You do eat with your hands and there are no utensils (except for the cake) but they do provide a lot of napkins and a wet wipe for your hands. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and show at medieval times. This is a great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, promotion, etc. Great selection of souvenirs and toys for the kids as well. What a fun time! I've passed by this place so many times and one night I decided I was feeling medieval... lo and behold, I had a blast. I love that the experience starts from the moment you arrive at the ticket stand (with the "lord" and "lady") where all the staff is dressed in medieval clothing. The venue is well-decorated and has plenty of things to do and look at, whether you want to buy swords/merch/drinks/figures, get knighted, look at the horses that will soon be in the stadium, or chill in the courtyard. The food was also surprisingly delicious and well-seasoned, consisting of tomato soup, garlic bread, chicken, corn, and potato. They also give to-go boxes if you can't finish it all which is nice. The main highlight of the evening is when the knights participate in their joust, complete with horse-riding and spears, sword fighting action, hand-to-hand combat, and some plot twists. You can even take pictures with the knights after the show! Overall this was a super enjoyable experience, perfect for celebrating any occasions or just to go out with friends/family. I recently visited medieval times dinner with a VIP pass for a birthday celebration. The last time I visited was three years ago. Not much has changed. The line to get in was not bad at all, it was moving pretty quickly. We arrived in an hour before the show started. The box window gave us our VIP passes and we walked over to the tavern to hang out before the show. Wow, the drinks were expensive! I received a plastic souvenir margarita cup with non-alcoholic beverage for $25. I will say that the strawberry lime Virgin margarita tasted like a delicious slushy. I also purchased a sword, plastic one for a gift and it was $45. They really get you with their merch. They do give you a free flag to wave for your Color team. At least they give you that. We had a wonderful waitress, her name was Bridget S. She was in theme constantly, was on point with food delivery and very friendly when asked questions. Five stars for her! The reason I did not give five stars for my total review is because the food wasn't as tasty as I remember it. The tomato bisque was pretty watered down and salty. The potato and chicken were fine. Nothing outrageous. The garlic bread was tasty. We were also given a mini chocolate eclair and confetti cake. When I bit into the chocolate eclair, you can tell it had been previously frozen and it had nothing but frozen water gushing where there should have been cream. The confetti cake was so sweet from the frosting, but the bread lacked so much flavor. I do love that they come by with coffee at the end. That was a nice touch. The show was great as usual. Okay I have never been to Medieval Times before and this is what my sister in law wanted to do for her Bachelorette and I was pretty excited to go. I think for the experience you get the price isn't too bad as it is dinner and a show. Our group got dressed up for the occasion as many people do. I can be a competitive person so since our knight didn't win so now I must go back so I can have a winning knight. The level of theatrics was beyond what I was expecting, getting to see a Hawk fly through the arena was spectacular, and the horses abilities were amazing! We attended the dinner and show this past weekend with her family and everyone had an enjoyable experience. The parking is spacious, but on this particular Saturday it was soo busy. The whole venue was packed. They have tons of merch and toys. You can purchase alcohol before or during the show. The food itself is ok. You eat everything with your hands like the olden times. Something new to note is they have options for those with dietary restrictions. They offer a Vegan meal now. The whole atmosphere is loud and cheerful. We were in the Green Knights section and we cheered and clapped during the show. Our waiter was awesome. The whole show is about 2 hours. It's been years since I've been back and it seems to be way better this time but also we got VIP this time around We were here to celebrate a birthday and we got the VIP tickets. We had our own special VIP landyard sine we got the Royalty tickets. The seats were dead center and great views of the show! The riders even came up to us and tossed us flowers! Super interactive and fun to watch. We didnt realized how loud and potentially scary it would be the kiddos. Good Knight The whole concept of "dinner and a show" has become a somewhat antiquated idea these days. I mean, sometimes people-watching is far more entertaining than any show that's happening, but Medieval Times sword fighting Knights and knaves might have something to say about that. Medieval Times dates back to the '60s in Spain, of all places, before it became a thing here in the US back in the '80s. This Buena Park location is actually their 2nd US location (ca. 1986), as there's now nine of these in the US, and one in Canada. The Good: *Huge free parking lot *Beer on-tap, as well as a full bar to keep you lubricated for all the death and mayhem. *Actors were a little over the top but still a lot of fun. *If you love jousting and sword play, then this is the place for you. *Overall, the food wasn't half-bad! I don't think it's changed much since the last time I was here (late '90s), but you get a full rotisserie chicken, garlic bread, soup baked potato, and grilled corn. I will say the grilled corn and potato were the stars of the show, as the chicken was just OK. There's also dessert, but we'll get to that in a minute. *Great family entertainment as my sassy, grumpy 15yr-old son had a great time, which is saying a lot these days. The Meh: *It is a little pricey at ±$80/ea but you gotta figure an operation like this ain't cheap to run, and in the end it was a lot of fun. #worthit *Vegetarian option is pretty weak with some hummus, PiTa bread, and veggies. Amazing show with a built in meal. While many people complain about the meal, the main highlight is the immersive show, so if you expect good food this isn't the place for you. If you want to see real jousting inside an arena where you cheer for your own (assigned) knight, then come enjoy this immersive experience where you even eat with your hands like they did in the medieval times! We did not expect long lines where you check in to receive your seat assignment, which determines your section/knight you cheer on. I think we were seated higher up because we came 15mins before the show started, so if you want front row seats, definitely come early (at least an hour early). People in line were very enthusiastic, and there were people dressed up too! They have a bar where you can get drinks inside cool souvenir cups, and there is a really neat gift shop outside the arena, too! If you come early enough, you can even see the horses in their stables. The show and the horses was spectacular! They do amazing tricks leading up to the jostling and there was a falconer act, too! The crowd work was great and contributed to an amazing energy. TLDR: Come for a memorable and entertaining evening. Came here on a Saturday evening last month, party of 3, we got the VIP tickets for $70 per person and sat in the second row for section 2. I totally didn't realize this was something that wasn't for kids when I heard about it, but it was actually very entertaining and I did not regret the experience!! The plot was cheesy but well executed, and the horses were so cool?? I've never really seen live dressage before and I think this is one of the only places that you can regularly watch it. Pros: - Very easy to get to, especially if you do an uber drop-off to avoid the parking drama - HUGE portions of food- we were served garlic bed, tomato soup, half a chicken, and a pastry for dessert. It's "full-on medieval experience" so you eat with your hands, no utensils. The tomato soup and garlic bread were actually so delicious. Meal also comes with your own choice of soft drink (think lemonade, etc). - There are drinks to purchase, menu is on the QR code at your seat. It was pretty tasty - you get to scream A TON - and it's actually encouraged!! I like spaces like these where you're allowed to be as obnoxious, talk as much trash as loud as you want, against knights that are not the one your section is rooting for. The red knight - staff were welcoming and professional and super helpful - the knights and performers are all super talented! Even though you know the fight scenes are staged, the competition is real and the knights are actually trying to win for real (per our friend who is a knight there lol - it's a real job and they have real martial arts training) - People get super into it, and dress up and groups have so much fun! - They do give you hand wipes, but sometimes it is helpful to bring your own extra Cons: - the drinks are super overpriced because they come with a souvenir cup (which I didn't see explicitly written anywhere when we bought them) that looks kinda tacky lol - the chicken breast and potato was pretty dry, so I would say the food here is very mid and that's not what you should come for - I would wear clothes you're okay getting a little dirty, since it's pretty dark, you can't really see when food splashes onto you - The dessert pastry was also very dry Overall, a super immersive and engaging show with great performers. You know I commit to the most absurd side quests and in the best way like driving down from LA to eat with your hands and scream for knights like it actually matters. But Medieval Times in Buena Park is 100% worth the trip. BIG UPS!!!! This ended up being a full nostalgia play, except I never even went as a kid. Most of my friends had already done it growing up, so walking into it brand new made the whole thing hit even harder. I was genuinely so into it. I had read mixed reviews about the food, so I went in with low expectations, but honestly I loved it. I had always wanted to go to Medieval Times and finally it happened! I was just as excited as a little kid to go. I wore the same dress I wore to Renaissance faire and was so excited to get on the blue team so the crown matched my dress. Cocktails are pricey but if you want to get a memento glass then it's fun to purchase something from the bar before entering. I Love love love how everyone is in character from the beginning and it had me talking in some accent to pretend I'm part of it. We sat in the middle-ish area, not too close but not very far away and I'm glad we did. I think the people who are right in the front row risk some dirt flying at them from the arena when the horses are running. It's so fun watching the jousts and the games and everyone cheering. The food is pretty good, the chicken is a giant portion, juicy and tasty. There is a small tomato soup, corn, and roll that comes with it and you can get water or soda in your goblet. The dessert was just ok. The portion is large so you do get to take some home for leftovers. It gets really cold once you sit down. It is pretty cramped. There are no utensils! So I brought my own because I heard other reviews. We got a whole chicken and it was sooo juicy, though I did feel quite rushed when it came to eating because after 10 minutes of recieiving the chicken, they asked if we needed a to-go box. Check out their instagram page or sign up for their emails to receive discount codes. They almost always have some sort of discount. Right now they have 15MT and 20MT. Highly recommend the knighting ceremony $40 - you get a photo with the king and queen w/a scroll announcement, an announcement during dinner, and either a hat or a light up sword/wand. Before dinner: they will give you a ticket to preset at the knighting desk, you check in, pick your item, pick your 'title' and mention what you are celebrating. This gets listed on your scroll. You then take the photo with the king and queen. The photo w/announcement scroll are handed to you at dinner (midway through). I also recommend the VIP upgrade royalty $16pp or celebration $23pp. You get a VIP lanyard, early seating, small cheering banner and for celebration you get a slice of cake and a photo for each person. If you were going to buy the group photo anyway (taken at the entry) I would recommend buying the celebration as the group photo costs $22 ($11 for any subsequent photo aka reprint). They strictly regulate who parks in their lot which is nice so parking isn't too difficult. They open 75-90 minutes prior to your show time and the king and queen make an announcement right as they open for check in. You check in with your last name and they will hand you your table cards and VIP lanyards if purchased. You will then walk over to the right to have a group photo taken, be given your crown with the color of your section/knight and then are sent into the hall to purchase drinks (Wine, Beer, Mead, slushie cocktails), swag and visit the horses. Check in at the knighting desk if you purchased it! If you have a VIP lanyard they have a special entry area they will call you in by color about 15-20 minutes before showtime. Your table card will tell you your row, you are not assigned a specific seat in the row. Food: make sure to wash your hands before entering the arena because you will be using your hands to eat! No utensils! Each person is served: Tomato soup w/garlic bread, corn on the cob, half rotisserie chicken (thigh good, breast dry), potato slice, and chocolate eclair (super dry). Drinks are water, lemonade, sprite (Starry), Pepsi, Pepsi zero. You also have a bar wench that can get alcoholic drinks. You get coffee at the end but it was too hot for me to drink before the end of the show. I tried to ask for it earlier but they can't serve it early. Your server will give you a folder to place a tip in at the end of service. The knights will throw carnation flowers to the kids. If your knight wins, a celebratory lanyard will be given to one person in the audience. Show: They have horses doing lots of dressage (dancing/tricks). The falconer was cool. Jousting was awesome. This is a perfect place for a group and the rowdier the better the experience. Service is fast. They have everything ready for mass distribution. The meal comes with half a chicken, tomato soup, and dessert. The soup is tasty and chicken is moist. Just beware there's no utensils, you eat with your hands. It's a classic spot to hit up and it's not just for kids but good for team events with coworkers or friends but family time too or even a date It's a fun dorky thing to do where you eat with your hands not utensils and you become a kid really and root for your color of knights The actors are always fun and in character and nice and the wenches are into it too lol And hey you got knotts and Porto's next doors so it's a win win of a situation going here read more

I've always wanted to come here as a kid, today was my chance and it was amazing. It's pure entertainment with a nice feast. Everyone is in character throughout the whole place from outside to inside. The food was actually really good and filling (changes every visit). You will be eating bare handed so be prepared to get your hands dirty. The alcohol itself is reasonably priced and you get to keep the cups you get. (Diff cups for each size) Service was amazing, shoutout to Serf Elmer who handled the black&white linage side. He was amazing and very sweet. read more

Had a great time at Medieval Times with the kids. We were there for a FieldTrip during lunch hours and the atmosphere was fantastic. Everybody was very fired up for the knights. The jousting was great fun. Beautiful horses and history plus a meal? Hard to beat! Definitely would recommend for kids. Plenty of merchandise available. If I had to make a suggestion, I would cut down the wait time indoors - too many people too close while waiting to enter the arena. Would make more sense to enter arena in smaller sections. read more

Came here recently after they put on the new show and it is kind of different. First off they have these new glassware which I think are absolutely adorable. We had to get the whole set. The icees tasted great as well as their other drinks. When we got to our table we were served food with no utensils so we get the feel of how it would be to eat the medieval way. It was all very tasty and fun. The show itself was different because it didn't have four colors. It now has six colors. It also seems more interactive because they put the screen down for jowsting so you don't get any pieces flown towards you. Overall it was a very fun time. read more
