I recently visited medieval times dinner with a VIP pass for a birthday celebration. The last time I visited was three years ago. Not much has changed. The line to get in was not bad at all, it was moving pretty quickly. We arrived in an hour before the show started. The box window gave us our VIP passes and we walked over to the tavern to hang out before the show. Wow, the drinks were expensive! I received a plastic souvenir margarita cup with non-alcoholic beverage for $25. I will say that the strawberry lime Virgin margarita tasted like a delicious slushy. I also purchased a sword, plastic one for a gift and it was $45. They really get you with their merch. They do give you a free flag to wave for your Color team. At least they give you that. We had a wonderful waitress, her name was Bridget S. She was in theme constantly, was on point with food delivery and very friendly when asked questions. Five stars for her! The reason I did not give five stars for my total review is because the food wasn't as tasty as I remember it. The tomato bisque was pretty watered down and salty. The potato and chicken were fine. Nothing outrageous. The garlic bread was tasty. We were also given a mini chocolate eclair and confetti cake. When I bit into the chocolate eclair, you can tell it had been previously frozen and it had nothing but frozen water gushing where there should have been cream. The confetti cake was so sweet from the frosting, but the bread lacked so much flavor. I do love that they come by with coffee at the end. That was a nice touch. The show was great as usual. Some people came in casual attire. Others came in full-on fantasy cosplay. The food that came with the show was pretty good and VERY filling. I'm surprised to say I had more fun on my second visit than my first. This time around, there were no animal cruelty protests outside, so it wasn't awkward walking in. We arrived just in time, and the show started right as we got to our seats. The show was enjoyable, and it felt like they had added a few things since I last visited a couple of years ago. It was fun rooting for a different colored knight, even though the outcome was the same (he lost!). The food was surprisingly good this time. We got the queen's royalty upgrade since there was a discount code online and it worked out to be about $100 per person for a full meal, a show, as well as a picture souvenir to take home. It was well worth it. Let's start with the show. It was entertaining and had some unexpected plot twists, which was cool. Had a fun time at the medieval times show. The ticket comes with a meal. The meal consists of half a chicken, garlic bread, tomato bisque, half a piece of corn, half a slice of potato, a soft drink/water/coffee, and a chocolate eclair. The food was just okay. The chicken was partially dry and partially juicy. The tomato bisque tasted like they juiced tomatoes, and the corn was dry. The eclair was my favorite; not too sweet and also creamy. Most things tasted pretty dry but that's okay since they're known for the show. The servers there were kind and served our food quickly. Came here on a Saturday evening last month, party of 3, we got the VIP tickets for $70 per person and sat in the second row for section 2. I totally didn't realize this was something that wasn't for kids when I heard about it, but it was actually very entertaining and I did not regret the experience!! The plot was cheesy but well executed, and the horses were so cool?? I've never really seen live dressage before and I think this is one of the only places that you can regularly watch it. Pros: - Very easy to get to, especially if you do an uber drop-off to avoid the parking drama - HUGE portions of food- we were served garlic bed, tomato soup, half a chicken, and a pastry for dessert. It's "full-on medieval experience" so you eat with your hands, no utensils. The tomato soup and garlic bread were actually so delicious. Meal also comes with your own choice of soft drink (think lemonade, etc). - There are drinks to purchase, menu is on the QR code at your seat. It was pretty tasty - you get to scream A TON - and it's actually encouraged!! I like spaces like these where you're allowed to be as obnoxious, talk as much trash as loud as you want, against knights that are not the one your section is rooting for. The red knight - staff were welcoming and professional and super helpful - the knights and performers are all super talented! Even though you know the fight scenes are staged, the competition is real and the knights are actually trying to win for real (per our friend who is a knight there lol - it's a real job and they have real martial arts training) - People get super into it, and dress up and groups have so much fun! - They do give you hand wipes, but sometimes it is helpful to bring your own extra Cons: - the drinks are super overpriced because they come with a souvenir cup (which I didn't see explicitly written anywhere when we bought them) that looks kinda tacky lol - the chicken breast and potato was pretty dry, so I would say the food here is very mid and that's not what you should come for - I would wear clothes you're okay getting a little dirty, since it's pretty dark, you can't really see when food splashes onto you - The dessert pastry was also very dry Overall, a super immersive and engaging show with great performers. It's been years since I've been back and it seems to be way better this time but also we got VIP this time around We were here to celebrate a birthday and we got the VIP tickets. We had our own special VIP landyard sine we got the Royalty tickets. The seats were dead center and great views of the show! The riders even came up to us and tossed us flowers! Super interactive and fun to watch. We didnt realized how loud and potentially scary it would be the kiddos. We attended the dinner and show this past weekend with her family and everyone had an enjoyable experience. The parking is spacious, but on this particular Saturday it was soo busy. The whole venue was packed. They have tons of merch and toys. You can purchase alcohol before or during the show. The food itself is ok. You eat everything with your hands like the olden times. Something new to note is they have options for those with dietary restrictions. They offer a Vegan meal now. The whole atmosphere is loud and cheerful. We were in the Green Knights section and we cheered and clapped during the show. Our waiter was awesome. The whole show is about 2 hours. The actors did a solid job with their performances and we were really cheering and rooting for our Green Knight in our section. It was an enjoyable time and worth going if you have never been. You know I commit to the most absurd side quests and in the best way like driving down from LA to eat with your hands and scream for knights like it actually matters. But Medieval Times in Buena Park is 100% worth the trip. BIG UPS!!!! This ended up being a full nostalgia play, except I never even went as a kid. Most of my friends had already done it growing up, so walking into it brand new made the whole thing hit even harder. I was genuinely so into it. I had read mixed reviews about the food, so I went in with low expectations, but honestly I loved it. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned, and way better than you'd expect for a massive dinner show. Eating without utensils just makes it more fun. The staff really stood out. Everyone was friendly, patient, and fully committed to the experience the entire time. It's not easy to keep that energy going all night, and they made it feel effortless. Good Knight The whole concept of "dinner and a show" has become a somewhat antiquated idea these days. I mean, sometimes people-watching is far more entertaining than any show that's happening, but Medieval Times sword fighting Knights and knaves might have something to say about that. Medieval Times dates back to the '60s in Spain, of all places, before it became a thing here in the US back in the '80s. This Buena Park location is actually their 2nd US location (ca. 1986), as there's now nine of these in the US, and one in Canada. The Good: *Huge free parking lot *Beer on-tap, as well as a full bar to keep you lubricated for all the death and mayhem. *Actors were a little over the top but still a lot of fun. *If you love jousting and sword play, then this is the place for you. *Overall, the food wasn't half-bad! I don't think it's changed much since the last time I was here (late '90s), but you get a full rotisserie chicken, garlic bread, soup baked potato, and grilled corn. I will say the grilled corn and potato were the stars of the show, as the chicken was just OK. There's also dessert, but we'll get to that in a minute. *Great family entertainment as my sassy, grumpy 15yr-old son had a great time, which is saying a lot these days. The Meh: *It is a little pricey at ±$80/ea but you gotta figure an operation like this ain't cheap to run, and in the end it was a lot of fun. #worthit *Vegetarian option is pretty weak with some hummus, PiTa bread, and veggies. I had always wanted to go to Medieval Times and finally it happened! I was just as excited as a little kid to go. I wore the same dress I wore to Renaissance faire and was so excited to get on the blue team so the crown matched my dress. Cocktails are pricey but if you want to get a memento glass then it's fun to purchase something from the bar before entering. I Love love love how everyone is in character from the beginning and it had me talking in some accent to pretend I'm part of it. We sat in the middle-ish area, not too close but not very far away and I'm glad we did. I think the people who are right in the front row risk some dirt flying at them from the arena when the horses are running. It's so fun watching the jousts and the games and everyone cheering. The food is pretty good, the chicken is a giant portion, juicy and tasty. There is a small tomato soup, corn, and roll that comes with it and you can get water or soda in your goblet. The dessert was just ok. The portion is large so you do get to take some home for leftovers. Everything really lives up to the name; Medieval times. The restroom was really smelly, maybe that was the vibe they were going for but yeah...haha. If you go, make sure to bring a jacket! It gets really cold once you sit down. It is pretty cramped. There are no utensils! So I brought my own because I heard other reviews. We got a whole chicken and it was sooo juicy, though I did feel quite rushed when it came to eating because after 10 minutes of recieiving the chicken, they asked if we needed a to-go box. Check out their instagram page or sign up for their emails to receive discount codes. They almost always have some sort of discount. Right now they have 15MT and 20MT. Highly recommend the knighting ceremony $40 - you get a photo with the king and queen w/a scroll announcement, an announcement during dinner, and either a hat or a light up sword/wand. Before dinner: they will give you a ticket to preset at the knighting desk, you check in, pick your item, pick your 'title' and mention what you are celebrating. This gets listed on your scroll. You then take the photo with the king and queen. The photo w/announcement scroll are handed to you at dinner (midway through). I also recommend the VIP upgrade royalty $16pp or celebration $23pp. You get a VIP lanyard, early seating, small cheering banner and for celebration you get a slice of cake and a photo for each person. If you were going to buy the group photo anyway (taken at the entry) I would recommend buying the celebration as the group photo costs $22 ($11 for any subsequent photo aka reprint). They strictly regulate who parks in their lot which is nice so parking isn't too difficult. They open 75-90 minutes prior to your show time and the king and queen make an announcement right as they open for check in. You check in with your last name and they will hand you your table cards and VIP lanyards if purchased. You will then walk over to the right to have a group photo taken, be given your crown with the color of your section/knight and then are sent into the hall to purchase drinks (Wine, Beer, Mead, slushie cocktails), swag and visit the horses. Check in at the knighting desk if you purchased it! If you have a VIP lanyard they have a special entry area they will call you in by color about 15-20 minutes before showtime. Your table card will tell you your row, you are not assigned a specific seat in the row. Food: make sure to wash your hands before entering the arena because you will be using your hands to eat! No utensils! Each person is served: Tomato soup w/garlic bread, corn on the cob, half rotisserie chicken (thigh good, breast dry), potato slice, and chocolate eclair (super dry). Drinks are water, lemonade, sprite (Starry), Pepsi, Pepsi zero. You also have a bar wench that can get alcoholic drinks. You get coffee at the end but it was too hot for me to drink before the end of the show. I tried to ask for it earlier but they can't serve it early. Your server will give you a folder to place a tip in at the end of service. The knights will throw carnation flowers to the kids. If your knight wins, a celebratory lanyard will be given to one person in the audience. Show: They have horses doing lots of dressage (dancing/tricks). The falconer was cool. Jousting was awesome. Here on a Sunday evening, my first time here and probably my last. All staff were super friendly but others like our waiter, although he was friendly, he was extremely busy. I felt that he was in a huge rush to get everything served that he didn't have time to really check up on us. Here is why I wouldn't come back. -seats are the worst ever. Absolutely no leg room (you have more leg room on economy flights). Impossible to stretch your legs and literally hitting the people next to me bc of lack of elbow room. Just plain awful!!!! And don't even think about going to use the restroom..no way to get out. In order to get out, you'll have to ask 6-5 people to get up and literally move out of the row so you can leave and/or sit back down. Ridiculous!! And never again! -food was mediocre and reminded me of hospital cafeteria food. And the lack of extra napkins is crazy! -dessert was disgusting!! Stale, dry previously frozen dollar store "eclair" and bc we paid for VIP a slice of white cake with extra sweet frosting. -animals (horses) I felt so bad for the horses. They looked sad and a couple were drooling pretty bad & one literally had its tongue off to the side of his mouth. Came here recently after they put on the new show and it is kind of different. First off they have these new glassware which I think are absolutely adorable. We had to get the whole set. The icees tasted great as well as their other drinks. When we got to our table we were served food with no utensils so we get the feel of how it would be to eat the medieval way. It was all very tasty and fun. The show itself was different because it didn't have four colors. It now has six colors. It also seems more interactive because they put the screen down for jowsting so you don't get any pieces flown towards you. Overall it was a very fun time. read more

Upon arrival, you're given a colored crown that corresponds to your seating section, which adds a fun, immersive touch right from the start. They also take your photo after check-in if you want a souvenir. Once inside, there's a large lobby area where you can grab drinks and browse merchandise like crowns, swords, and other themed items. When it's time for the show, you're called into the dining arena by your assigned color. Seating is at long banquet-style tables with stadium-style chairs. Be aware that seating is pretty tight... once everyone is settled, it's a bit difficult to get up, especially if you need to use the restroom during the show. For drinks, you're offered non-alcoholic options (Pepsi products), and the meal begins shortly after. The first course was garlic bread and tomato soup, which was surprisingly delicious, rich, creamy, and flavorful. True to the medieval theme, utensils aren't provided unless you specifically ask for them. The main course included roasted chicken, a quartered potato, and corn on the cob. The food was decent and satisfying, though fairly simple. Dessert was an éclair, which was just okay, not particularly memorable. Giving it a two star because all the staffs were suuuuper nice, acting was good, and all drinks came in a souvenir cup and the prices were reasonable. The reasons why I'm giving it a low rating - The food was just okay. It felt like canned tomato soup, stale dessert, and dry chicken. - I was able to see the horses up close because we sat VIP, and I couldn't keep staring at the horses that consistently drooled or was foaming in the mouth :( - The VIP section I sat on was right by the horse entryway and it smelled like a barn. Got tickets to celebrate a friend's birthday. I would recommend for groups looking for an engaging event. The show is full of energy and the whole crowd definitely gets involved supporting their knights. The staff is well organized and gets the crowd in smoothly. The lobby has a bar, gift shops, and plenty of places to sit until entering the arena. The venue is spacious, very clean and perfect temperature controlled. The food was better than I expected. You get garlic bread, tomato soup, chicken, and an eclair. The eclair was terrible, but everything else was fine. There is no utensils but they give all guests towelettes wipes. You get two rounds of drinks. There is an additional charge if you want more. As far as the show goes. It's cheesy- no way around that. The horses doing their tricks was fun to watch . The knights jousting and fighting was just ok. It's all scripted and predictable. Plenty of parking Show is good for all ages If you're debating this Medieval Times or the one in Vegas. Although Medieval Times is definitely something to check out once in your life, I wouldn't say it's completely worth the price. The show was lackluster, but the food was great! My favorite part of the show was the falconry. The jousting was sub par and did not hold a candle to similar dinner theater shows I've been to. Despite this, the place was packed to the brim with happy (mostly drunk and loud) patrons. My family and I come here about 2 to 3 times a year and the service was exceptional today. I had an issue at the bar and the manager was quick to resolve the matter and make me feel valued. @erikreyes19 was our server and he went above and beyond to make sure we left satisfied. I can't express how often customer service lacks in experiences. But today at Medieval Times was not the case! It's a fun show that families and kids will enjoy (especially around the end when there is fighting). That part is great. Service is good and fun. The main issue is with the food. Soup is bland. Potato is dry and salty. Corn is ok but feels like it's from a cafeteria. We also ordered some special meals. They were nice enough to accommodate but they were freezer burned old microwave meals. Very salty. No flavor. And we could barely eat them. Really subpar. Made airline food seem delicious. Kids left hungry and had to race home to have a real dinner after paying a lot for their food. read more

Food: The food was pretty good overall. The appetizer was a warm tomato soup that had a nice flavor and was a great way to start the meal. The entree was a giant piece of chicken that was seasoned well and cooked nicely. Dessert fell a little short with a stiff eclair and a slice of cake where the top layer of chocolate was surprisingly thick. The unlimited soda refills were a nice bonus. Service: Our server Felix did an excellent job taking care of us throughout the show. Everyone we interacted with from the ticketing staff to the knighting desk was very friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: Medieval Times does a great job selling the theme. The performances were very fun and entertaining and the overall energy of the venue really adds to the experience. There were a lot of mixed birthday groups from children to adults and plenty of people dressed in theme which made everything even more enjoyable. Parking is plentiful and the venue is very easy to get to. Overall it was a great time and I would definitely come back. read more

It was a fun night! The service was welcoming from the time we pulled into the parking lot! The "tournament" was very entertaining and be prepared to cheer for your knight! The food was good, it was seasoned. There was a variety of soft drinks, with a refill if needed. Each course was eaten by hand, but you do get a napkin and a wet wipe too. We were served a mini eclair and a square of cake with sprinkles. We were even offered strong coffee at the end. They served it with a couple of packets of creamer and a couple of sweet n low. But overall, the family had lots of fun! read more
