WARNING - My Experience with Russald Medical / TJ Hair Clinic / MedicalMex I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision before moving forward with this provider. I was given written confirmation of a specific hair transplant procedure before traveling. However, when I arrived, the procedure was changed without my consent and did not match what had been agreed to. I did not receive the procedure I requested and paid for. After the procedure, I made multiple attempts over a period of about 3 weeks to resolve the issue directly with the provider. I reached out several times regarding the procedure performed and the outcome, but I did not receive any meaningful response, follow-up, or resolution. Dr. Pablo Fok is advertised by this provider as the specialist. However, he was NOT present at any time during my procedure. No doctor was present at all. The procedure was performed by individuals who did not identify themselves, did not provide credentials, and appeared to be inexperienced. There was no supervision by a licensed physician at any point during my procedure. This provider operates under multiple names and websites, including Russald Medical, TJ Hair Clinic, and MedicalMex (russaldclinic.com, tjhairclinic.com, medicalmex.com), which made it unclear who I was actually dealing with. I also observed Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation logos displayed across these websites. However, BBB primarily operates in the United States and Canada, and I was unable to find any verified listing or accreditation for this provider in the official BBB database. This raises serious concerns about how the business is being represented. Because of these issues -- including the procedure being changed without consent, not receiving the procedure I paid for, lack of medical supervision, lack of follow-up, and no resolution after repeated attempts -- I filed formal complaints with agencies in both the United States and Mexico, including: BBB -- bbb.org FTC -- reportfraud.ftc.gov California Attorney General -- oag.ca.gov PROFECO -- gob.mx/profeco COFEPRIS -- gob.mx/cofepris CONAMED -- gob.mx/conamed I paid approximately $4,000 in cash. This experience with these wonderful people in Tijuana has been extremely rewarding! Dr Fok, and staff are very personable and supportive. The level of care I had here at Russald is more than comparable with that in the states. From my driver who picked me up at San Diego airport to the one on one care from my nurses was outstanding! MedicalMex did a great job coordinating the pick up and drop off from San Diego. Our driver, Jorge, picked us up at the San Diego rental car facility. He loaded our luggage and helped us in his nice, clean car. He was very nice and showed us some things of interest on our way to the clinic. The whole ride in, the streets were clean. When we arrived at the Tijuana Grand Hotel, he parked right out front while we waited for our surgery coordinator, Andrea. She literally welcomed us with open arms. Her intoxicating personality shined. She took us into the medical building , straight to the clinic and to my room. Later, she would escort my spouse to the hotel, which is the second tower, and get him situated with a room while I was having my surgery. Almost everyone spoke English in the clinic. Dr. Pablo Fok Russel is awesome and has a great bed side manner. He and his whole staff took amazingly good care of me and my husband, who was by my side for moral support. I had the gastric sleeve done. I'm 5 weeks post op, and the only discomfort I ever had was the gas, which is not unbearable at all. The all-inclusive charge includes 2 nights in the clinic and 1 night at the hotel. All my liquid meals and medications were included. When I was discharged from their care, they provided a month's worth of post-op medications. We were picked up right at the hotel doors by Carlos who took us safely back to the San Diego airport. We were able to get back over the boarder in the "express" lane. I can't say enough how safe we felt and what great medical care I received. I know they don't only do bariatric surgery. I had to travel to TJ for a gastric sleeve revision as my Dr in the states botched the first. From my first interaction with Elizbeth til the day I arrived was very pleased. She was very helpful and willing to answer all of my questions. I was sure to tell her that I tend to get EXTREMELY sick after all surgeries and would require anti nausea via IV before and after anesthesia. She assured me it would be taken care of. First impression of Dr Fok was also very pleasant, he seemed to really care about my feelings etc. I also told him about the anti-nausea, he assured me it would be taken care of. 2 hours later, its time for surgery. The anesthesiologist comes in, she is very nonchalant and does not like to talk... at least that's what i got. She wasn't very polite in my opinion. I told her about the anti-nausea as well ALL BASES COVERED! I was rolled into the surgical room and put on the table. I asked the anesthesiologist how long she thought it would take before I would be back to my room where my friend was waiting, it really didn't matter i was just nervous talking. She literally didn't say anything! I didn't see a nurse or the Dr before lights out! The first thing I remember when waking up is "I'm gonna puke!" I remember sitting up and holding my own vomit bowl. Then I remember Dr Fok asking me to move to the next table.. I obviously couldn't as I was vomiting all over myself and still half asleep! Then BAM! They are forcing me to the other bed where my head apparently didn't want to go, it hurt like hell! Then I hear a young lady asking for permission to change my gown since I was covered in vomit. FINALLY IM BACK IN MY "ROOM" a very sweet nurse came in and asked if i was in pain, I responded with "no" but I am super nauseated can I possible get something for that? She looked right at me and said "sorry, no english" and left.. WHAT???? I waited for another nurse to come in ( I was constantly vomiting.. it was beginning to become bloody) asked him for something. He did put something into my IV.. I literally started vomiting so hard that a pee'd in my bed.. This was 2 min MAX after he gave me whatever he gave me. The next time they came in I refused all medications.. No more vomiting and there was already no pain. Skip to 4 hours later when Dr Fok came into my room ANGRY that I refused meds. I told him I didn't need them as I felt great. He told me the only reason I felt great was because of the meds and it was imperative I took them. I caved.. Don't know why.. Again, instantly sick! This time it was so bad they sent me to see if there was a leak! No leak.. Then my IV site closed.. They were shooting medication I did not want into my arm tissue. My left are/hand swelled up so much I couldn't close my hand. They moved it to my bicep on the same arm!! II now have no feeling on my bicep and a patch of my skin has turned dark brown with no feeling. I begged to be released at that time. They let me go back to the Hotel where i did not take any of the meds! I felt fine! Skip to a few days later back in the states (still haven't taken any meds) I went to my Dr just to have him check my incisions and brought my meds along (NEVER EVEN OPENED THEM) as he was looking up each medication I could see on his face.. it was a WTF expression the entire time. They sent me home with 4 medications. #1- GENERIC TYLENOL #2- ANTI-INFLAMMITORY #3- ANTACID #4- ANOTHER ANTACID My Dr literally said he had no idea what the hell they were giving me but it wasn't right. ESPECIALLY since I was just fine WITHOUT the meds but extremely ill with. I am about 3 months out and have lost 40lbs. I'm grateful for that. But the experience was just horrific! Pre-op coordination was excellent, pickup from airport and delivery to center was fine. However ..... Their "medical center" is a suite of rooms in an office building. I wasn't able to meet the surgeon until the morning of surgery, and had to have a translator in the room as he didn't speak English well enough to converse with me. I was given NO post-op discharge instructions until after I arrived back home (a week later) -- and I had to beg to get them. When I had concerns about healing, I was brushed off. I honestly think the doctor removed too much skin, as everything is EXTREMELY tight, and there are lumpy spots at the end of scars, which look like skin was just hurriedly sewn together. I hope these issues will resolve over time, but right now I just feel "butchered." The "recovery center" was pleasant enough, although every meal was served to me cold, and there were language concerns with most of the personnel (though they were uniformly pleasant and helpful). Overall, especially given the cost of my procedures, I can't recommend them. read more

My experience with Medicalmex and Dr. Pablo Fok was wonderful. I had vsg in November and am great 6 weeks out. My coordinator, Elizbeth, was patient and knowledgeable. My drivers were funny. My care coordinator, Rodrigo, was absolutely amazing. My nurses, especially Carla, were the best I've ever had. If you go, you have to meet Mau, he's just the sweetest. Dr. Fok was very kind and had a fabulous beside manner. I had zero bruising and only gas pains. The hospital and hotel are top notch. I recommend them for everyone! read more
