Mediacom is the absolute worst!!!!! The ladies in the office have always been nice but the morons you talk to on the phone don't care about you. I have been a customer for over 15 years but cancelled my account today and will never go back. These jerks raised my already high bill for internet only from $123 to $181.35. Why am I getting screwed when I've had this service for years? When I called today the guy who clearly hates his job - Erik - wouldn't say anything on less I was talking. Then would say I was talking over him. I would say go ahead and tell me what you wanted to say and it would be dead silent. So I would talk and that's when this guy would start talking. What kind of game are you playing at Erik????? I cancelled my service and requested a supervisor to call me back but no one ever called me back. I don't know how mediacom can possibly stay in business. My new service is over $100 less than Mediacom. Now let's talk about how crappy their service is. I have a brand new modem router in my house from Mediacom and I have to reset it several times a day. When it is working it's poor quality. Trying TJ watch Netflix or amazon prime is different because if the lagging. Reminds me dial up internet from the 90's. Shame on you Mediacom!!! I would give ZERO stars for Mediacom. The absolute worst customer service, high cost for little value. Zero accountability at Mediacom. The cable set-top boxes have been an absolute nightmare since April. We get a letter stating that they were going to encrypt the channels and we were required to get set-top boxes for each TV in order to continue getting cable TV. We have had recurring issues with the high definition (HD) channels not displaying properly. It has taken FOUR technicians to come out to troubleshoot these issues. We have been overall very dissatisfied with the level of customer service provided by Mediacom. It should not require me to make more than one phone call and several hours with a customer service rep only to be told they need to send out a technician. The last three technicians Cody, Matt and Anthony (who is technician #101432) have been very helpful but we have wasted countless hours with Mediacom. May 28, 2024 was supposed to be a service call regarding our HD issues, and the technician Matt thought he was setting us up with internet!! For the record we were NOT signing up for internet, we already have fiber internet through Surf! Turns out the last customer service representative who was supposed to provide me a QUOTE for bundled internet and TV had actually signed us up for new internet WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Matt had canceled the service for us. I called Mediacom and spoke with a supervisor (Stephanie), who told me she was going to access the phone conversation between me and the customer service agent who signed us up for internet. She said she was handling it. Then a week later the HD went out AGAIN. On June 5, 2024 I wasted an hour and 20 minutes on the phone from 9:30pm until 10:50pm with a customer service rep named "Mae," customer rep number 19-C, who was clueless on how to help. I asked her FOUR times to transfer me to a supervisor. She ignored my requests until she finally said there was an agent free. That person "Michelle" tried to help me and failed, and said she had to send a technician the next day. I was promised a partial credit on my next statement from both "Mae" and "Michelle" for the HD issues but they wouldn't say how much the credit was. The technician (Anthony) who arrived June 6 did some troubleshooting and said the third set-top box was never registered to our account by Mediacom. How is this the customer's fault? I emailed customer support to complain on June 16 and got a reply that was a weak apology and they stated we were issued credits. Imagine my absolute disgust when I get the paper statement in the mail today and discover the credits they issued were a whopping $5.19. Plus the "change order" ie the Mediacom rep who ordered internet without my permission was charged and then removed. I emailed customer care again to express my dissatisfaction at the $5.19 credit. They sent me another apology today 6/18 and offered to give us 7 days of credits. This is still insulting and this should be at minimum a month's service waived, but I have spent WAY too much time and energy on these people. Will be researching other TV providers, perhaps satellite is the better way to go! read more

Was the only option available when I moved, and ever since I've had problems. It constantly goes out, they don't watch when they are working on other people's internet and pinch the cable in the case, then take days to come out and fix it. They make it seem like your the problem when something goes wrong. Their prices keep going up year after year. I won't ever use them again unless I absolutely have to. read more

Our internet goes out multiple times each day. My girlfriend is a nursing student who is now at risk of failing her final due to your terrible lack of service. I am a project manager working from home and now my job is also at risk due to your extremely poor service. When I called to complain, the rep just hung up on me. We will be switching providers. So I call mediacom to disconnect internet service on 11/21... The send me a box to ship my equipment back which I did on the 11/29... then on 11/3 they take $130 out of my account because they "forgot" to stop autopay. Now apparently they want me to wait until after the modem shows up before they will issue me a refund... Guy that installed our modem was nice and professional. Internet speeds are fantastic were getting around 800 down 60 up. Would recommend their gigabit plan for any gamers/content creators that need the high bandwidth read more

HORRIBLE COMPANY. Please stay away from these people. They nickel-and-dime you on everything. They "high speed internet" is barely working so it needs to be reset almost all the time. I actually give it 0 stars. I was disconnected two weeks prior to my moving/disconnection date. I've been on the phone for over 90 minutes trying to get reconnected. First they tried to tell me there would be a reconnection fee. Now they are trying to tell me I will be reconnected sometime tomorrow between 8am and Noon. I work from home. This is totally ridiculous. I had an issue with them last year when trying to help my mother with her internet. I have now just been told there is nothing they can do. They will need to send out someone tomorrow and that is the best they can do. I asked to speak to a supervisor, after being put on hold again for an extended period I was told the supervisor is not available, they would document and have the supervisor call me when available. I requested that it be tonight. They said of course. We will see. I have never written a review before. This is a company to stay FAR FAR AWAY FROM. WORST EVER! read more

It's not this local business necessarily, just mediacom as a whole in the area. This is just to potentially save you money when you decide which internet package you want. I've seen internet throttling before (it's a consistent monthly routine), so I don't believe it's that, but I do suspect they don't have the necessary infrastructure to support routine internet usage during peak usage times. So a good portion of the day when you will most likely be using the internet (because it's the same time for everyone) they will not be able to reach anything higher than about 20/5 upload download speeds. So if you're just a routine user, you probably should not bother paying a heftier fee for "faster" internet speeds because they will not even reach the slower speeds limits. read more

Horrible inhumane company policies! Last night, my dear sister's house caught fire due to an electrical problem. Thankfully, she was visiting a friend overnight, so she is safe, and she had her dogs with her, so they are safe. Her two beloved cats died in the fire, however, and the house is a total loss. She has nothing except her dogs and the clothes on her back. Literally nothing--no furniture, not even a change of clothes or a single memento of her entire life. She only has a $10,000 policy on her personal belongings with a $1,000 deductible, so the most she will be reimbursed to start her life completely over is $9000. Here's where the greedy corporation comes in. This morning, after meeting with the insurance company, burying her cats, and finding a friend to stay with, she began the arduous task of calling the mortgage company and utilities. Each one was kind, sympathetic, and very helpful, with the exception of one: her cable TV company, Mediacom. Mediacom informed her that they would be billing her $1,039 for the loss of their cable box in the fire! She tried to explain that she has nothing, and that fee would represent more than 10% of her entire insurance settlement, assuming she gets the max. They didn't care. Tough luck, you owe us a grand. She begged them to waive the fee--after all, they are likely insured against such losses, and even if not it's pretty unlikely their stupid receiver box actually costs them $1,039. They wouldn't budge. Please avoid this company because they have displayed no basic human decency or social conscience. read more

When my family moved this was the only cable provider available in our area. We used to have Comcast but had no choice in switching if we wanted tv/internet/phone service. Absolutely horrible company. Customer service is no help, it takes 5-10 days for any technician to get out to you when there is an issue, and they can never figure out the problem so it keeps reoccurring. If you have the option DO NOT go with Mediacom!!! read more

This is, by far, without a doubt the WORST company on the face of the planet. I wish I could give it negative 5 stars. My husband and I moved here from Boston a year ago, where we had Comcast. We were always happy with our service, it was affordable, and we never had to deal with terrible customer service. When we moved out here, we hoped to sign up with Comcast, but found out that it wasn't available in our area. So we signed up with Mediacom. BIG mistake. From day 1 we had issues. Channels would randomly go out for no reason. Other channels would suddenly be in Spanish. A huge box would appear on our screen saying that our DVR was full, even if it was completely empty, and the box wouldn't go away until we called customer service and had them reboot the cable box. Our internet will go down for no reason at all, which poses a BIG problem since I still telecommute for my old job in Boston and rely on our internet service. Every time we have these issues, we are on the phone with customer service for what seems like eons, and most of the time they are rude and don't fix the problem. They often send out techs who don't do anything (and in one instance the tech tracked mud ALL over the floor), and then we're right back where we started. During the summer, we found a cable hanging 3 feet above our yard. We called Mediacom to see if it was theirs. They said that it wasn't, but that they could send a tech to double check in 2 days. We told them to shove it. We later found out that it was an AT&T cable, and they were out in minutes to fix it. 2 days later a Mediacom tech shows up on our doorstep. We told him that the problem wasn't theirs and had been fixed days before. We get our next statement and they had decided to charge us $25 for that "service call". So, to sum up, avoid this company at all costs. They will suck the soul right out of you. P.S. As we speak, our cable is out. They claim that it's an "area outage", but our neighbor in our duplex who also has Mediacom is having no issues whatsoever. They offered to send out a tech for us..........in a WEEK. Freaking jerks. Worst customer service EVER. read more
