Wrote a review for PROVIDENCE ROAD STATION on the SEPTA trolley line (light rail 101) for Media PA…read more Added it as a new review listing, I gave precise location address, and web address for this exact stop as designated in its own place on Septa's website. Somehow Yelp turned this into a completely different page, doubled up my review with another station, now clumped together and given the address for Market Street in Philly... ??? ---------------------------- SEPTA - Trolley (Light rail) Line 101 - Runs from 69th Street hub to Media, PA. - Last stop for walking access to Media Borough. This is on the outskirts of the borough proper. - On weekends there is after-midnight service for bar-goers, as late as 1:49am. - There is no sales office at this station. - There are 38 parking spaces at this station, FREE. - No bike racks are at this station.

However, in the evening that's when all HELL breaks loose and it seems no SEPTA Employee is willing to go above and beyond to provide customer service. It all starts at Suburban Station where the ambassadors are all flirting with Rachel and not thoroughly collecting tickets nor checking passes. They're too busy ticking each other and squeezing each other's but cheeks. I've seen this first hand and was applauded. Then when you get down to the platform, it's CHAOS, people are milling around everywhere because 9 out of the 10 trains are either delayed or cancelled. Last time a train got cancelled, there was an announcement made where we had to find alternative means to get home; meanwhile my ticket was collected and wasn't allowed to retrieve it or refunded train fair. This past Friday was a perfect example of how challenged SPETA is. My 505 train to Hatboro didn't arrive until 527 which is close to when the 533 train to Hatboro was supposed to arrive. The car i boarded had no working air conditioning and the Engineer must have traveled less than 0 miles per hour the whole time. There was a time when we sat still in an un air conditioned car for 35 minutes with no communication from the conductors or engineer as to what was going on. I'm. Not opposed to confined spaces but the conditions were a little unbearable, not to mention we were just sitting there, with no explanation from ANYONE. Oh excuse me, there was one announcement. It was to instruct us to exit the train because the line had just been cancelled. We were near my stop and two and a half hours into a Friday ride home that was supposed to have started at 505. I must say, this is THE MOST, unprofessional, irresponsible and atrocious experience EVER. With all the asks of increasing fares and striking for equitable wages for its union workers, one would expect exemplary customer service. By the way, the Engineer Troy Reid is HORRIBLE. He shared no information nor communicated and challenges occurring.

Uber will always get 5 stars from me…read more Living in one of the 5th largest cities in the U.S., it is often hard, no, impossible to be anything other than a nameless face in a crowd, an otherwise anonymous customer number or just a delivery address. As many issues that Philly might have, there is an unfettered joy and sense of adventure for me with the random, chance encounters the city offers. As I am conveyed back and forth to the South Street vet with my sick little white cat, once again I get to have some funny, interesting, happy, poignant and occasionally simply dull, yawning interactions with Uber's legions of drivers. I love getting a minute peek into the thoughts and lives of these drivers who are so often taken for granted and treated like robots. Sure, some of these folx have complicated lives, second and third jobs and want nothing more to get through their shift in peace and quiet. As an introvert, I always test the conversational waters when I step into an Uber vehicle. If the driver answers me in monosyllables, I take it he or she simply wants to drive, thus I keep to myself. Some drivers are possibly bored yet enthused about chatting so as a result I have been privileged to learn about their families, their country of origin, their snack preferences, some of the odd/interesting/pesky passengers they've conveyed, music tastes and most of all-how connected everyone of us really are. Almost as good, since I don't drive, is having the little kid in me awakened and absolutely thrilled at going out for a car ride. (Sure, it isn't free but the little boy in me never even considers that. He simply has a blast seeing the city from a vehicle...) While Uber is a business, it would be nothing without its drivers. Sure, sometimes they are slow to arrive or they flip your trip to another driver. From time to time, a driver is having a rotten day and acts out a bit. Examine your conscience. Haven't you had similar days or nights, no matter what you do for a living? Rather than bitching and moaning, treat your Uber ride as a way to connect with someone you'd probably never meet in your regular social circle. See your driver like the unique, silly, grouchy, aspiring, single parenting, hard working, dream filled human being they are; under the t-shirt, under the jacket, under the trucker's cap, behind the knock off shades-they are someone just like you.

However, after waiting and trying to reach the driver with a call and a text--without any response--I found myself increasingly frustrated. After 15 long minutes with no sign of my ride, I had no choice but to request another Uber. This experience was simply unacceptable! It's hard to believe that with all the advanced technology at your fingertips, the system could fail so completely. I tried to cancel the ride, but it said it would take 16 minutes! And let

The Moylan-Rose Valley station is located on the Media/Elwyn line of the SEPTA regional rail system…read more(in Zone 3). It is between the Media stop, and the Wallingford stop. Access to the station is from Manchester Ave. This is closest to South Media as well as the two neighborhoods mentioned in the station name. Manchester Ave. is not very walkable into town, with a somewhat busy road and no sidewalks. I do not recommend this stop if you are walking and are not familiar with the area (it does connect to bus 118). If walking, you are better off getting off at the Media stop to access Media Borough. *If you are trying to get to The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, then yes, this is closest, but still, watch traffic as you walk there, because that bend of the road is dangerous in a car, let alone on foot. There is a sizable parking lot at this station, however it is pretty full as are most SEPTA regional rail lots. (I know a number of people who live nearby and walk there.) Each space costs $1 in quarters at the machine per day. This station has a SEPTA ticket office, open 5:15am-11:15am M-F. This station also has a US Post Office (which is only open M-Sat 7am - 10:30am -- see separate Yelp listing). There is a small porch overhang off of the station house for inclement weather. Fun Fact: This station has operated since 1870!
