    This train station is small, but it serves its purpose…read more They have some benches and a little covered up booth for bad weather. They have a ticket booth as well, but it's not usually open. Loud speakers are built in and they notify you of arrival times. Close by is Snap pizza kitchen and Ardmore station cafe. There you can grab a quick bite to eat. The parking is fine. It can be a bit confusing. If you need to stay warm on freezing days they have a little tunnel that goes under the train tracks. You can stay there. It is usually crowded do come a bit early for a seat. In the summer time they sometimes have concerts in the parking lot behind the train station. If you have to park it may be a bit of a hassle, but it provides entertainment while you wait.

Let's just say there's nothing noticeable about the Ardmore train station environment; I would suspect that's a reasonable compliment as one might be prone to remember more negative aspects (e.g., litter) of train station ambiance. I certainly had issues locating parking, which reminds me of a wonderful saying: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded." - Yogi Berra Hopefully another reviewer might offer a helpful tip. I was looking for a quick place to park for 20 minutes and grab a cup of coffee while waiting to pick up a friend. I struggled.

    Uber will always get 5 stars from me…read more Living in one of the 5th largest cities in the U.S., it is often hard, no, impossible to be anything other than a nameless face in a crowd, an otherwise anonymous customer number or just a delivery address. As many issues that Philly might have, there is an unfettered joy and sense of adventure for me with the random, chance encounters the city offers. As I am conveyed back and forth to the South Street vet with my sick little white cat, once again I get to have some funny, interesting, happy, poignant and occasionally simply dull, yawning interactions with Uber's legions of drivers. I love getting a minute peek into the thoughts and lives of these drivers who are so often taken for granted and treated like robots. Sure, some of these folx have complicated lives, second and third jobs and want nothing more to get through their shift in peace and quiet. As an introvert, I always test the conversational waters when I step into an Uber vehicle. If the driver answers me in monosyllables, I take it he or she simply wants to drive, thus I keep to myself. Some drivers are possibly bored yet enthused about chatting so as a result I have been privileged to learn about their families, their country of origin, their snack preferences, some of the odd/interesting/pesky passengers they've conveyed, music tastes and most of all-how connected everyone of us really are. Almost as good, since I don't drive, is having the little kid in me awakened and absolutely thrilled at going out for a car ride. (Sure, it isn't free but the little boy in me never even considers that. He simply has a blast seeing the city from a vehicle...) While Uber is a business, it would be nothing without its drivers. Sure, sometimes they are slow to arrive or they flip your trip to another driver. From time to time, a driver is having a rotten day and acts out a bit. Examine your conscience. Haven't you had similar days or nights, no matter what you do for a living? Rather than bitching and moaning, treat your Uber ride as a way to connect with someone you'd probably never meet in your regular social circle. See your driver like the unique, silly, grouchy, aspiring, single parenting, hard working, dream filled human being they are; under the t-shirt, under the jacket, under the trucker's cap, behind the knock off shades-they are someone just like you.

However, after waiting and trying to reach the driver with a call and a text--without any response--I found myself increasingly frustrated. After 15 long minutes with no sign of my ride, I had no choice but to request another Uber. This experience was simply unacceptable! What…read morestarted at a positve experience with a driver (named Jonathan) arriving to my house at the exact time requested, a seamless drop-off at my requested destination turned turned into a frustrating experience. Upon arrival to destination, I gave my credit card to the drive to cover the $60+ fare, and he wrote down the credit card # on his clipboard. I game him a $10 cash tip in the meantime. I was also looking for pickup later in the day, so told him I would be looking for a ride later for a return trip home. No problem, and he supplied his cell # to text him later. Later in the day, I proceed with a text and he texts back to say he is not in the area and no other drivers are available within 20-30 mins. No problem, I pursued another taxi company and requested a pickup. Not too much later, my Main Line taxi driver calls to let me know he can come to pick me up, but he was a little way away. No problem, I'll wait for him. After an hour, no cab and I ended up taking my "backup" from another cab company. Lo and behold a phone call from Main Line saying my taxi had arrived. At this point, I had already taken my "backup" cab the 45 min commute home and was resting comfortably. Over and done with, right? Nope. I check my credit card statement a few days later to see 2 pending transactions from Main Line taxi. One was for the original cab ride ($60) and another charge had appeared for $81. Turns out the driver went ahead and charged me a fare for his failed pickup after having been over an hour late. Needless to say I have since disputed the fraudulent charges with my bank and will do everything in my power to make people aware of the difficulty I encountered. Take into consideration that this could be a case of one renegade driver, but it does reflect negatively on Main Line Taxi as a whole. I'll be relaying the same to the Better Business Bureau.
