They have moved and the climbing portion of this is tiny - one climbing wall, one bouldering wall. I'm not the best climber but I enjoy it and have my own gear. Walking in there as both not a child or professional climber with my own stuff, it was incredibly awkward. The staff guy was pretty uncomfortable too. He gave us the "tour" and didn't mention any restrictions on belaying and saw the ATC in my hand but when we went to top rope he came over and scolded us about not having asked him and getting approved as if I was supposed to know. Then he mentioned that "plenty of their climbers have equipment too, so..." ...ok? After that little interaction, the noisiness, the complete lack of other climbers except a bunch of children coming over for a single climb - it just wasn't fun.

It was never told to us prior but we said oh well, lets just lett them climb. Totally different expperience. The kids said theyd rather had gone to laser tag. 80$, so $20 per kid. Just a fyi update.

You can tell she cares, and that made a great first impression. The zoo itself is small and has a certain charm, especially with how close you can get to the animals. But as we walked through, it became hard to ignore some concerns. Several enclosures appeared to need immediate attention, and a number of animals seemed distressed--most noticeably the bears, who paced back and forth repeatedly. It left us with a heavy feeling. While the zoo has potential and some genuinely caring staff, it also feels like the animals deserve more space, better conditions, and a higher level of care. Hoping improvements are made, because these animals deserve environments where they can truly thrive.

The other people working out seem to clean up after themselves. The only bad things I've noticed are one man that consistently has to remove his shirt to walk past the child drop off and pick up area. That seems very odd. The front staff noted that it seemed strange too but did not address it. (No swimming area near that location) The shower doors do not stay closed and constantly open. The staff told me to shove a towel in the door to prevent it from opening. And the last is the staffs wiliness to open a locker without verifying its owner. Some staff have commented on several thefts resulting from this yet, they continue to hand out the master key and open lockers for whoever asks them to with zero verification. Recently I have noticed that some gym members choose to use the hot tub naked. This is actually a misdemeanor when other adults are there and a felony if children are present. The manager appears to be attempting to rectify the problem but the staff are failing to follow through on their part. Kinda has me wondering why a facilities staff is overlooking grown men exposing themselves to other adults and children? This is a deterrent to use it as you're gambling on their personal hygiene, I don't want to sit on another mans skid marks. I was assured when I agreed to sign up that this did not happen here and clearly it does, Also keep in mind that the public hot tub is open to those 18 and older but no one in the locker room appears to be enforcing gym policy and state laws, so there is a good chance that a naked man will decide to climb into the hot tub with your minor child. The staff are most certainly aware that this is happening (Bennett, a manager, even justifies adult men exposing themselves to minors. Disgusting.) it happens on the hot seats too, so keep that in mind before you sit down on them. These items are easily addressed. I would leave children at home to avoid the man removing clothes near their area and bring a gym bag that you can carry around with you to avoid others and thieves being permitted access to your locker and its belongings by the staff. And be sure to wedge your extra towel in the shower stall door to prevent it from opening. It was be very nice if the staff that walk around in the locker rooms checked periodically to ensure that the members are conducting themselves as they should

While visiting Amarillo, the hotel gym I had access to was not cutting it for me and my routine. In my two long stays in Amarillo, I would constantly pass by the Contagion Athletics building and consider giving it a go. Last week, through all the dust, fire, and terrible dryness that Amarillo offered me, I bit the bullet and grabbed a $20 day pass just to try it. Immediately, I knew I'd buy a membership if I lived in Amarillo. You walk inside the spacious gym to find a large turf field, plenty of strength equipment all spaced from each other where it doesn't feel like you're ass to ass with your neighbors. There is so much strength and weight equipment to use from the rigs, the plate-loaded equipment, the free weights, competition-style weight set-ups, deadlifts, and more. Plenty of cardio equipment is on hand too, including 9 StairMasters and tons of high quality treadmills. They have a small looping cushioned track that I ran 3 miles on, which felt fantastic on the feet and joints. On top of that, they supposedly offer massages, saunas, personal trainers, a cafe, a barbershop, and car detailing. To a point, you don't need to go anywhere else. I got a great workout in here and the energy is great. There are tons of windows that face Business 40 and the rest of Amarillo so you get a ton of natural light. The temperature is comfortable in there which is great because some gyms are way too hot for no reason. Lastly, the space is just beautiful. CA is open 24/7 so you can always get a workout in. Anytime I'm in Amarillo, I'll be sure to give them a visit because they are worth the price of admission. This makes any gym feel like they're playing in the minor leagues in comparison. If that's your situation, you might be better off checking out another gym or using your hotel gym if it has one. As always, if you want to give this place a try, go for it. Just know you'll be paying $25 for the day, and there aren't any discounts for veterans or first responders, there are many other places that do offer discounts if that's your background. One more thing, the saunas should really be on and heated up. After a workout, it's a bit of a letdown to head over for a quick sauna session and realize they're not even running yet. Yes, one can turn them on before you workout so they are ready but then you might be met with someone else already using it.
