I don't normally leave reviews, but I'm going to for this occasion. I have lived in my house that I restored for over 21 years. It was built in 1920. I had decided to move across town closer to my children. It was bittersweet the three gentlemen from meathead movers were amazing they made me feel so comfortable and they did such an excellent job. The crew was excellent. Tim and Blake in particular worked hard, packed carefully, and did everything right. My rating has nothing to do with them. Everything before and after the truck showed up was a failure. Isaac, my sales rep, went silent. No call, no email, no check-in of any kind until the day before the move. When I finally reached someone, the schedule on file was wrong and we had to rebuild it because the dates didn't line up. The inventory was also wrong. Rather than fix it, they sent me an updated inventory and asked me to verify it myself -- in the middle of a cross-country move, which is exactly when a customer has the least capacity to audit paperwork. The predictable happened: the truck arrived undersized for the actual load and they couldn't fit everything. Still figuring out how to get them to me... The crew told me Isaac or a manager would call. Three days later, nobody has. Not Isaac, not a sales manager, not anyone. I have had to chase this company at every single step, including after they failed. I would revise this review if someone from management called, explained what went wrong, and made me whole on the items that didn't make the truck. Until then, one star. read more

Meathead Movers packed and moved our belongings March 8-9, 2026. Initially I was impressed until I started opening boxes. Dishes were broken, file cabinet was broken, fedora hats were thrown into a box with shoes. There was no rhyme or reason as to how things were thrown into boxes; in addition, there was no concern as to whether the customer would be able to lift the boxes. They had no regard for our furniture or are household belongings. I've never been so disappointed by a moving company before. It is a continuing nightmare with every box I open. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. The movers they sent out were the most unprofessional, rude people I have ever met. Something I was told would take 3 to 4 hours, took over 8, and they still were not done. Every single time it went over an hour, the head guy said "that's another $400" They forgot my mattress in the street, propped up against the POD, and ny neighbors and I had to pull everything they left in the driveway back into my garage because "it's past 5" They called their boss and told them I told them to leave everything. I guess what they didn't anticipate was that between myself and my neighbors, we have pictures and videos proving otherwise. That still didnt stop them from charging me over $2000 and then threatening collection if I didn't pay. Do yourself a favor, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON MEATHEAD MOVERS. Moving can be stressful, this was my first time using a moving company due to physical injuries I am not the type to leave reviews as I think this is my third one ever but I feel that it's needed. Pretty blown away at the customer service side of things from beginning to end with this company. The option to be able to finance the deal helped with a very reasonable monthly payment They disassembled all of our beds and reassembled them at the new house, they disassembled all of our desks and reassembled My hat is off to them for how much they can actually stuff in one truck safe safely. The moving team was great, they hustled and worked hard. I was incredibly disappointed in having to pay the max quoted amount and them not sending Moving trucks big enough for my stuff. On moving day we had to do 8 car trips in addition to the stuff that they would move. Stuff got removed from the itinerary, I had to bargain with them to move my basketball hoop. It was a HUGE mess! We didn't get out of our old house on time. They broke our desk and a custom built bench. They won't give me enough money to replace what was broken. They expect me to have receipts for things purchased over a decade ago and find receipts when we JUST moved! I cannot recommend this company. read more

Did a good job and even did the move on Easter morning to make the move happen ASAP. No problems during the move or setting up the house.

We used their service and paid for it and that was done. It was a good service and it was worth it. But one month after we moved, we started getting calls from them again, the first call stating that we were somehow undercharged and that we owed an additional $75 and that if we did not pay it. It would go to collections. I did not answer, I was working. One week later they call again leaving another voicemail stating that they just went ahead and charged the card on file. Without any warning or notification. After we already signed all of the papers stating that the bill was final (which included all of their break times by the way) and acknowledged that the services provided have been completed and are satisfactory. We tried to call them back, no answer. We left a voicemail stating that we would like them to reverse the charges or we would file a dispute with our bank. The guy called back the next morning while we were asleep and stated in the voicemail that they were undercharging us for an additional 15 minutes that the worker did not refresh in the system. - how does that seem ethical to charge me one month after we signed and paid for the service? We're paying additional money AND a credit card service fee for THEIR mistake? I want my money that they stole back. I have reported them to the BBB, as well as disputed via my bank's card, to no response. These people don't care about you, just what money they can squeeze out of you. They're literal kids with no work ethic nor work experience. They could less about your valuables. I hired them because TROY was so convincing that they were the best in town. BIGGEST REGRET EVER! Not only did they damage most of my valuables but they caused damage to my new construction home!!!! And they over charge so much!!! Do not use this company for moving. We moved March 16th. Our furniture was damaged. One of our tv's was damaged. The crew was unprofessional and we are missing items. Their truck was not big enough for our move and we ended up renting a U-Haul for the rest of our stuff. They wanted to come out the next day and charge us again to pick up the rest which was THEIR ERROR. They gave us a quote and required cashiers checks and charged us extra on move day. 1 star is generous. I tried to reason with this company after all the mishaps, loss and over charging. Over the course of weeks, maybe 2 emails were received back that they may look into it with supervisors. Nope. Nothing. In short. ... I sold a lot of my things like heavy appliances and took all boxes to my new place on my own. They wanted $800 just to move several pieces of furniture 3 miles literally, down the road. I found the price to be pretty high but a neighbor had recommended them prior to the hire.... the program to support the athletes seemed liked a good idea. I just tried to mitigate a lot of the charges by moving what I could, myself. Sept 1. 930am. No guys as promised. I got a call one guy didn't show so it will be a bit. 10am. Guy seemingly in charge of the day with a major attitude. Great. Scratched up my bed really good, they said nothing about it. Lost critical shelving to a lit unit where shelves are needed. Still missing. But they split leaving their blanket and gloves behind. Straight to the bin after holding them for 5 days. I called the office when the guys went to take an extended lunch re price and when Mr attitude returned he stated that he had hurt his leg (riigght!). That he was leaving the job and someone else would become by. Sheesh. This 3 hour job was turning in 8 hours for no reason! Plus they needed to ask to use some of my own tools!! I was charged $1200 which was ludicrous for a couple of beds and a few larger pieces. I had already signed off on all the docusign stuff. More annoying than anything and in the end served no purpose. They change what they want. I had even cancelled the packers prior within the needed specified time as their prices are just crazy and they still got me in the end. $$ They will be quite nice on the phone to tell you in and then you are at their mercy especially as they know you are on a time line when moving as we all usually are. Took an hour just to move the fridge. at the new house I ended up just having them move things in the garage to hurry up and stop. They weren't in a hurry at all they left water bottles and energy drink cans at my house. The damaged my fridge, fire pit, bunk bed, master be, and shoe rack. I called to complain they didn't take payment that day cause they were supposed to call to adjust the payment they charged me the full amount and I still haven't talked to anyon. I had an estimate from Meathead Movers to move from Ridgecrest to Oxnard for $3923.56. It was a two day move, out on Friday and in on Saturday. They would **drive back to Bakersfield on Friday night and then meet us at our apartment on Saturday in Oxnard. When they arrived at our home they did a walk through and increased the price to $5173.29. The salesman, Chris Spray, kept saying he would be over the weight limit on the truck if he didn't report everything. I told him there was a lot we listed but had sold since we had our estimate so it would more than even out in their favor. They said we did not list things like ironing board, Christmas tree in a bag, mattresses, tricycle, guitars and patio furniture and other items. I told them we did tell them what we had but did not itemize every item. We said several times it was a 2200 sqft 4 bedroom home. When we said we had patio lounge set and patio table with chairs they did not ask how many chairs or cushions. Now they are counting the chairs and cushions!! And why anyone would mention a ironing board or a Christmas Tree, I would think they would be considered normal household items. I went over the list and noted that we had sold the BBQ, Outside Heater, Mirror, Deck Boxes and various boxes and other items since we were downsizing and had a few garage sales. They said the new price was final. I asked to speak with a manger and they put me in touch with someone on the phone. She said we could find other movers and believe me I would have except we were closing escrow in TWO DAYS and needed to be out of the house. There is no way we could find anyone to move us in that short of time. They took advantage of us and should be held accountable to their estimate. I can understand an estimate being off by maybe 10% but a 40% upcharge on the day of moving is shady business. They ripped me off. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. *By the way the movers were great, they hustled and moved everything were I wanted it the next day. There was a broken leg on my table and some scratches on the patio table but overall the actual movers were great. **The next day when they moved us in our apartment in Oxnard asked one of the guys if the truck was over it weight limit on the scales on the way back to Bakersfield and he said "no, the scales were closed when they went through. we used them 2 times in 4 years the first time was a small move that included a piano as well as moved stuff from 2 houses in 2 different towns to 1 house everything went great as planned was very pleased. roughly 4 years later we had them move us completely again moving from 2 houses emptying both of them completely to 1 house 65 miles away. most of the move went great. took 8 hours longer than est by Troy they did not charge over the amount said but at the end of the move and day everyone was tired. The situation was chaotic as of today we still haven't found certian item. We did find some stuff packed in a hurry not protected and broken. Just today I was moving a piece of furniture and found one of the lock tabs completely destroyed which made me think they grabbed it with a tool and bent it and it broke. The latch locked the coach back in place. They also separated some screws from one coach I have yet to find. Let me preface this review by stating that this was the worst moving service I've ever used. For the customers that live in the Kern County area, please be aware that their Bakersfield representative is on leave and is not doing physical quotes. Had they come and taken an inventory and told me about all the items that they can't do, I would've never hired them in the first place. The movers came to my house and didn't even have boxes so I got a partial move but the following items were left behind: -Fridge (They lacked the tools and expertise to remove the doors to move it out the front door) They tried to charge me an additional feel to hire a contractor to facilitate + another moving fee -All my clothes -All my kitchen/bathroom/laundry items -TV brackets (not contracted to remove) -Kitchen ceiling light (not contracted to remove) -Outside bistro lights (not contracted to remove) -Dyson vacuum bracket (not contracted to remove, but they took the vacuum off and placed it into storage) Etc etc etc.... They advertise speed and a certain delicatesse, but I didn't get any of that. There was no jogging between tasks and/or saving me any time. In fact, I felt like they were purposely taking up every bit of the 4 hrs that I paid for. They also did not start right away. After we got done touring my home (something that should've been done prior), the movers finally started about 40 minutes in. There's also a bunch of liability waivers that they make you sign during this time (another task that should've been done prior). When we finally got to the storage unit, there was little to no strategy on item placement. They ran into and nicked my washing machine with one of my chairs. This decreased the bill by 10%. They also ran into a few walls in my house which left chips and marks. Needless to say I'm underwhelmed and completely disappointed in my experience with Meathead Movers. I paid them $1200 to move 8 chairs, a small dining table, a sofa, 2 tvs, a dresser, and a couple of small side tables along with a washer and dryer. I asked for a manager to contact me which he did 3 days later. From start to finish, this experience was a complete nightmare. Please be advised that this is NOT a full service moving company. Fantastic. On time, professional, fast (too fast!) and thorough! New to the area and needed a jam packed POD emptied pronto! These 2 guys finished in half the time! My only complaint is the pricing minimum is 4 hours and they finished in 2, this may be the only reason I would be hesitant in the future. I had no idea how long the unload would take and had to go with the minimum...so in essence I paid double! It was a good service, but pricey and needed at the time. July 9, I had meathead movers come and empty two pods and help me move in my home. Bakersfield was going through an extreme heat wave and it was about 110 112 outside. The boys were hot and tired. , after an hour and 15 minutes, I could see that the young men were exhausted and it was so hot. I felt bad for the boys. I gave them water and told them that's enough for today. My mistake! I called the company and I wrote letters and I asked if there was some kind of credit I could get or if the boys could come back for an hour. I paid the full amount $611 for 1 hour and 15 minutes and now they won't return my phone calls or my letters, I know that I signed a contract and it was a minimum of three hours, but because of the extreme heat, I felt that it wasn't safe to be working in those extreme conditions . In response to the owners rebuttal to my post 2 days ago. Standard corporate response! Nothing mentioned in her response was mentioned to me. The fact is her employees said they had a dead battery, plain and simple. Secondly througout the entire process I was the POC on behalf of my mom, but for the day where everything went bad. Then of course call the elderly lady who has stroke issues and not me as per the usual pattern of communication. In the end, have your employees speak truth. After recommending Meathead Movers to my daughter and her husband for a move this weekend the performance and level of skilled labor was not at the level one should expect to receive when moving a household. I had used their services before to move a one-bedroom upstairs apartment without issues. Simple things like sofa pillows dropping through the wrapping and dragging on the ground while being carried through the door, parking the truck ramp too close to stucco of the garage so you can't roll the refrigerator down and onto the driveway, and dropping the stone fire pit so hard the layer of stone drops off. Now mind you, these are only a few of the damages my daughter has found. As she continues to remove the wrapping tape from bedroom furniture with cracks and scrapes. Her stainless steel refrigerator has a huge dent in the front panel, the list is endless. This is not a job that you get what you pay for it was a $4000 move. That is not cheap! I posted the truth about the poor service. Your reply is not true. I spoke with you on the phone twice and you were supposed to follow up and get back to me. I never heard back from upper management. I was double charged. Your guy in charge assured me that the check I wrote was the complete amount. Why did you charge my Visa card too? I was charged close to 5000.00 total. It's a simple process to rectify. You make it right by refunding one of the charges. Why do I need to talk to anyone again? I got your return call but, never heard from your upper management. No call, no message, just poor follow up. During our move the movers broke our fridge. They did not have it properly secured leading to the fridge falling out of the moving van. We took the proper steps to file a claim to have our fridge replaced as we had gotten insurance through the company should something like this happen. To our disappointment we were told it would take 60 days to resolve the issue. Fast forward almost 4 months and when I call they say they "forgot" to get back to us. They made my husband find parts online at the cheapest possible to replace the parts broke despite it basically being the entire fridge that was broken. After following all their steps we receive another email saying they have to come view the damage (despite us sending several photos) and that it would take another 60 days to resolve. I do not recommend this place, don't waste your money. I was told that they were professional and efficient. That they would dismantle furniture, and reassemble it on delivery. What happened in my case was I dismantled the furniture to expedite the process. They wrapped and loaded everything fine. But took an hour and a half lunch on my dime! When they did arrive and unloaded they had no tools! They weren't able to reassemble anything as promised. Contacted the so called operations manager to complain about why I was charged the whole amount of the quote when less than half the service were provided. That was a waste of time also. I had a very small job and was apprehensive that no one would want to take it. Meathead Movers did not hesitate and were glad to help me. I had to retrieve some items from a Storage locker and move a few pieces of furniture from from my home to my Granny Flat and they did this in under 3 hours. Used Meathead Movers after a couple friends had used them with great reviews. During my initial quote call they asked a lot of questions about what needed to be moved- how many boxes, chairs, tables, appliances, etc. After I received a quote and some documents to sign. On move day the movers showed up on time with the 4 movers and two trucks. They went through the checklist- verified that that the items going were on the list and started moving. The loading of the truck took FOREVER. They said they were organizing the truck to fit everything, but it felt like it took longer than it should for experienced movers (my house was only 1950 sq ft, so it surprised me they even needed two trucks!). Then they took an hour and 15 minute lunch- which seemed a little long considering how long the load took. The unload was fine- except I ended up having them put my clearly marked boxes in one room to speed up the process. They ended up going over the maximum charge time- so I could have had them organize, but by 7:00PM I was ready to have everyone gone and put the kids to bed. Overall the move was fine- just not as smooth as I would have liked. I felt like it took too long and a couple things were left behind at the house we were selling because either it wouldn't fit (I had forgot to put it on the checklist) or there was some last minute confusion on if it should go. I feel like for a new mover like me, having someone come to the house and give a quote would have been a much better option. Had a great experience with this company. The sign up was quick and easy online, and I received a phone call shortly after. I was given a quote, and we confirmed the size of our house and the distance we were moving. A few days before the move, I made updates to the number of boxes, and we agreed to add an additional mover. On the day of the move, I received a phone call about 1/2 hour before the men arrived. They arrived right on time, did a quick walkthrough with me and they started to load the truck. They loaded the truck quickly, and were very careful with all our items, especially our antique and collectible furniture. They took a quick lunch break, and then met us at the new house after a drive to Tehachapi. Again, the guys were professional, careful, and quick as they unpacked the truck. (They jog on the way back to the truck.) Nothing was damaged, and they put all our boxes in the correct rooms. This company employs student athletes, and our movers were all from Bakersfield College. The two wrestlers and two football players were excellent. And the price came in about $350 cheaper than the estimate. We had an excellent experience with this company. read more
