I had ordered from MTB (and their same company by a different name: Premier Meats) a few times. Since I live locally, you'd think it would be easy for them. Packaging is well enough-- disposable ice packs in a styrofoam box then all tucked neatly in a MTB cardboard box. The meat products are individually packaged in shrink packaging & then labelled.
One delivery, the packaging leaked and meat blood spilled all over the other contents in the styrofoam box. Another delivery I was shorted. And TWICE, the meat was delivered to me ABOVE safe handling temperatures. One time, the meat gauged at over 70 degrees and another delivery, it reached 46 degrees. The delivery service should have been FIRED on the spot for that. Eating spoiled meat can be extremely dangerous.
My last two deliveries (during the dead of winter) were OK..... But, I won't be going back, however, because they had a huge price jump on many of their offerings-- some nearly doubled in price. There are too many less expensive competitors that get much better reviews, and they'll be getting my business from now on. If you do order from them, don't do it in the summertime-- their delivery carrier shows up in a UNrefrigerated passenger mini-van. They are just not ready for a customer-service oriented delivery business where perishables are involved.
I will say that the people I spoke to at MTB were very friendly and very apologetic about the numerous mishaps, although you need to jump through several hoops in order to to speak to anybody. read more
