I really don't know what happened to this place. They have less staff when I went but can't comment on other days. This day they had low staff not meat for display, service was slow due to staffing. read more

If you like getting terrible service feel free visit this meat market. The service is absolutely nonexistent. I arrived 30 minutes before they opened, I was the 5th customer online. After they open I waited 45 minutes to be helped. I just decided to walk out. The help never came. All the meat counter employees just keep chit chatting with each other, walking around not being concerned about the customers waiting, not enough employees serving the customers. The only reason I went there was because it was recommended. Never ever going back. They truly lack service skills. read more

I would say they have the best prices when it comes to the New York steak and it's very delicious read more

First time, possibly last time customer. My son bought a car from next door so I went to Maloney's for dinner fixings. First of all, the marinated chicken thighs were 20 stars. Customer service was a weak 3 stars. We walked in, 2 people ahead of us, another lady came in and went to Cornish hen line. 5 workers roaming behind the counter plus a cashier. It took me 15-20 minutes to get 2 lbs of chicken. There was Plenty of meat already in the display case. Nobody was even waiting on the 2 people in front of us. Now I understand why, during last years Covid crisis people were complaining about the service here. I wanted a long time and I was already in the door! IMO, it was an unnecessary waste of time to come here. Plenty of other Mom n Pop shops to go to. read more

GREAT place to buy your meat's always good vibes clean and best quality in meats been there

The wait is definitely worth it. I like to go early mornings because there is less of a wait. Not only do they have a great meat selection, they also have so much cheese! My favorite is the pastor prepared meat!!! The best. Tender and flavorful. I recently tried their carne asada and OMG, I couldn't believe how good it was, aside from the amazing flavor, it was sooooo tender, not chewy AT ALL. All the people here are so kind too, they always help with a smile. Prices: yes a bit on the higher price but I pay for quality not quantity. Been to other places where it's really cheap but the quality is just not there. read more

The meat quality is average, used to be better when the boss was managing this place. Now they have taken this beloved meat market to the worst ever. Customer service is non existence, workers don't have any manners or courtesy. They have no sense of appreciation to their customers or their time. Lines outside could last for hours. How is this possible??? I have been a loyal customer for years but I think is time to look for another place. Sorry Mr . Maloney, your legacy and hard work has been destroyed by the current management and employees. read more

Thanks to the kind gentlemen at Moloney's for helping me with my prime rib order. They prepped it perfectly, all I had to do was add my own seasoning the cook. No more turkey for Thanksgiving, prime rib for now on. read more

I went today waiting one hour. They have the slowest customer service ever. Plenty of workers but not well organized. I've been coming here for many years and sadly it seems since Covid-19 their service has became terrible. They do not even try to speed things up. It's unfortunate that I definitely won't be going there anymore. read more

Best quality meat expensive but the price stands for what you're getting GREAT FRESH QUALITY MEAT!

Had a terrible experience. After my mom and I have been customers for 25 years they disrespected her. They belatedly told her that they didn't like to help her. We have been faithful customers for decades and the honestly lost a customer. I called to a complain to the owner and they told me they didn't know when she came or know her name. The person who answered was Andres. He even hung up on me. My mom told them she wanted a cut and they said we don't like to help you. I'm sorry but we aren't there to beg for goods we are paying customers. How dare they disrespect a loyal and elderly woman. I'm in utter shock and upset. Never anyone in my family will be going back there again. read more

My brother has been raving about the cut of meats at this place for years. I finally had the opportunity to stop by on a day they were not closed. I realized that my parents have been coming here for decades! No wonder they are still in business, the meat is a little pricey but you cannot beat the quality. It is true Angus beef. The butcher will take a huge 30 some plus hunk of meat to personalize the cut for you. Depending on what your cooking you can have a thick cut for a steak or thin cut for fajitas. We came by around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and it wasn't that bad. When you order deli meats they give you a ziploc with deli samples. Tip: Upon arriving go grab a number, that is how they will serve you. Know what your ordering by the time your number gets called. It's hard to move sometimes if the lobby is packed since it's a small shop. read more

This place was previously located on Firestone & State street in Huntington Park. My dad would always bring us here, it was the greatest because every single time we come here, Mama & Papa (the owners) would gives the samples of whatever cold cold or cheeses that we wanted. The employees there were nice I got 4 pounds of carne asada ranchera it was very over priced and not even well marinated. . They just added alittle bit of seasoning no limón or anything . .just tasted basic and they charged me $11 per pound . . I've tasted better carne asada ranchera from markets like north gate or el super this just wasn't it won't be going back . . Hi friends. I have been shopping at Maloney since they opened their doors in the mid 1980's. Met papa, mama, and family. Quality is always good, prices are hit or miss. Sometimes the prices can be market average, other times Maloney's is banking on supply and demand to sell meat at an inflated cost. Love this place, but consumers beware of inflated pricing. read more

This butcher shop is the best. I worked there for a couple years, then I became a friend and a customer. I remember Mr Maloney (His soul rest in peace)he was always a good MAN. The product they have (chorizo, carne Molina, Foster Farm chicken just to name afew are always fresh, new and the best of the city...I will always definitely recommend this place to everyone, that my personal opinion. Don't just read this post, go try it your self... read more

This butcher shop did not meet my expectations. I am not an expert in meats but also not an amateur. I asked for some custom cuts which they declined to do simply because "we dont do that." Furthermore when I asked the person attending me if the New York Strip steak he was trying to give me was prime or choice he simply stated it was angus beef. I rephrased my question to say, "is this prime, choice, or select grade" to which he replied that it was certified angus beef. The so called butcher didn't even know the three main grades of beef. The meat itself is above average to good. They did give me a free sample of some ham and cheese, which was nice. The service was acceptable but their lack of knowledge was off putting. notice that the cuts of meat and labels on the bags dont even specify the grade of beef, very ironic since they have several certified angus beef posters, which is all about grade, marbling, and quality. lastly, they don't vacuum seal meats, something that is very useful for storing meat for longer periods of time than average. I suggest instead Luis Butcher Shop. i've been going there a while and they vacuum seal and make custom cuts. I dont work for them and have not been paid to advertise them, but their quality of service and product is superior to Maloney Meat Co. Overall this place is not good, but not terrible. read more

Good quality meat. They season their selection really well. I recommend you try the Al Pastor. It's delicious.

A pleasure to shop here , very great food quality always and employees are all very kind for as long as I can remember

I very rarely write reviews unless I had a really good customer service or really bad. Unfortunately this time it was really bad, my family has been coming to the butcher shop for many years and it is sad to see how far this place has fallen. The meat are overly priced and not well seasoned on top of that the workers there couldn't care less no one wants to help and they ignore you and have you wait for long periods of time despite the place not being packed. They lost a very loyal customer. read more

I have come here for the past three years. I don't mind the 25 minute drive and the hour wait many times because their meat is quality! I don't trust any other carniceria. Once you try them you will keep coming back. A little pricey but it's well worth the extra buck. Their customer service is also great. read more

The selection and prices are ok. Usually, the prices are a little higher than nearby super markets but the reason you would go Maloney's is for the neighborhood butcher feel. Unfortunately, they're nothing more than a slightly overpriced meat counter at a supermarket. They wont cut meat to order. I asked for a thicker cut of pork chops because theirs are are paper thin. Thr gentleman said they dont do that. So I have no reason to go there when Aldi has better cuts and lower prices read more

My husband's family are the ones that started coming here years ago and we have been coming here since. The turkey breast slices and muenster cheese is what we come for...Sooooo good! We make sandwiches with San Fransisco rolls and guacamole in them. We don't come too often because it is a bit pricey but sooooo worth it every once in a while! The customer service is good too! They are all friendly...Well at least the ones that have served me and the cashier's. Also they always give you a sample of their cheese and sometimes ham or turkey. We usually go during the week and it is rarely too busy. At least at the times we go which are usually the afternoons. We will definitely keep coming as long as they are there. read more

Should be a South Gate landmark! Ever since I was a child I could remember this place. Maloney's has good cuts of beef. The place is kept clean and staff are very friendly. Looks like the butchers love working here. Farmer John products are sold here, first place I can remember see Dodgers Dogs sold outside the ball park. Ham & Turkey deli meats are very good. Do wish they sold more deli style meats. A man can't get any corned beef in this city. Oh if you ever pay this place a visit make sure you get a prime rib spice bottle. That stuff if well mixed. Enjoy. read more

I been coming here for years, the little red house as we know it. Papa fillets are delicious, and the south gate New York is great. Any meat you purchase here is fresh, and delicious. The ground beef makes amazing burgers and tacos. Sadly this Tuesday 1/14/14 Mr . MALONEY passed away. My co-worker and I were just talking about it being our fave carniceria, and she just text me that he passed. Thanks Mr. Maloney, for all your years in South Gate sharing a smile and great service to the surrounding cities. I will miss seeing him in his chair on the side of the cash register. read more

This place is not what it use to be... meat not as good as it use to. Butchers there are too busy talking as if people didn't have anything better to do than stand and wait 30-45 min when there are very few people waiting. I don't come here anymore due to their slow service ! Butchers need some customer service training. Will never return here again! read more
