Parking can be a bit hectic, but luckily it wasn't too busy this time. Our wait was only about 15 minutes, which is amazing considering it can easily be 30+ minutes on a normal day. They do have outdoor seating, but it's limited, so we ended up eating in the car with the AC on since it was such a hot day. Honestly, still worth it! I ordered the Sando (chicken sandwich) with a medium spice level, and it was perfect. The chicken was super juicy, the spice had just the right kick, and the coleslaw was fresh with crunchy pickles that balanced everything out so well. I also got a side of their shake fries my absolute favorite. They were golden, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and dipped in the comeback sauce... chef's kiss! On top of the food, the customer service at this location is amazing. The staff has great energy, super friendly, and very interactive with customers, which makes the whole experience even better. If you're ever in Downtown LA, I highly recommend checking them out. 10/10 every time!

Only about a 15min wait in line. Ordered w/Ryan who had such a great attitude & very welcoming. Ordered chicken sando (mild) fries, comeback & tang sauces. Food came out quickly. Chicken sando is big, great portion size of fries as well. Definitely can share. Normally I don't care for crinkle fries but they were fried & seasoned to perfection. Honorable mention to the staff behind the counter as well, every person I made eye contact with (although they were busy) returned a smile. I appreciate feeling welcomed. Great people & great food.

Happies is located in Arts District and I came here on a Sunday dinner and didn't have any problems with parking. But, I can see how it might be hard to find if you come during peak hours. The restaurant was pretty empty. First thing I noticed was that there were tons of employees but no one really said anything. Since there was no one ordering, they were all standing around. You can just order at the kiosk but I wanted to ask a few questions but was kind of left to fend for myself. I ended up ordering the chicken tenders and chicken tenders with salad. I thought the restaurant ambience was nice. And after waiting for about 10 minutes, my order came out. They gave me extra sauce but again no explanation on why the extra sauce was provided. As for the food, I thought the chicken was kind of bland. I expected some Sichuan style but hardly any spice on the chicken. Once of the sauces was a Sichuan chili crisp, which gave the chicken more taste. Maybe the chicken was bland because I was supposed to dip it in the sauces? Aside from that, the other sauces were average (ranch and sweet/sour sauce). The salad was definitely a huge miss. They didn't dress the salad properly and only put dressing on top, so I just got a bunch of romaine lettuce at the end. The best part of my meal was the fries, which was crispy and fresh. Also, the fries were pretty generous. I think that the food was just average. Probably will not come back here but glad I came to check out what the hype was about.

I've tried a lot of…read morespots, but Pelicana consistently hits the mark on texture and flavor. Here is why they earned five stars: The Crunch Factor: The chicken is incredibly extra crispy. Even after being tossed in sauce, that initial bite has a perfect, loud crunch that stays crispy until the last piece. Honey Soy Perfection: The Honey Soy flavor is a must-order. It has the ideal balance of savory and sweet without being cloying. It's glazed perfectly so every inch of the chicken is coated. The Cheese Powder: Don't sleep on the Cheese flavor. It adds a unique, savory richness that pairs surprisingly well with their signature fry style. It's addictive. Quality: The meat is always juicy on the inside, which is the ultimate test for any fried chicken joint. Whether you're doing takeout or dining in, the quality is top-tier. Definitely my go-to spot when the craving hits!

There are a lot of different options on the menu, which was a bit overwhelming for my first time, but we decided on getting a half order of their classic boneless chicken in the signature Pelicana sauce, which was a delicious choice. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy, and the sauce was a great blend of heat, sweetness, and garlic. Everything was ordered on a tablet that is at each table, and there was one staff member assisting the whole restaurant when I visited on a Sunday afternoon; she was kind, helpful, and provided great service. I also ordered the Peli Shaken Fries which had a nice sweet and savory flavor that complemented the chicken well. The Kimchi Fried Rice was warm, cheesy, but ultimately a little salty for my taste. Overall, the space has a modern and cozy feel, and I can see this being a good spot to grab some drinks and food with friends.

I ordered the quarter chicken with rice and salad, and I was really impressed with the portion sizes. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and gave me the kind of authentic Latin food vibes that I love. The sauce was definitely the highlight for me--it was so good that I found myself adding it to every bite. The prices are also fantastic. For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. I found that a bit disappointing, especially since we had already paid for the same food as everyone else dining in. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely the reason I would come back. If I'm in the area and craving their chicken, I'd absolutely return--just with different expectations regarding the seating situation and service.

It was nice and refreshing while waiting for the food. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese, and both were excellent. The chicken thigh was huge, cooked perfectly, and had an amazing crunch on the outside while staying juicy inside. The brioche bun was soft and fresh, and the cabbage and kale slaw added a nice crunch. The sweet pickles and honey mustard gave it just the right amount of sweetness without taking away from the flavor of the chicken. The mac and cheese was just as good. It was creamy, cheesy, made with fusilli pasta, and topped with crispy panko breadcrumbs that gave it a nice little crunch. It was the perfect side to go with the sandwich. This was easily one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had, probably in my top five. I'll definitely be back for this one again.

The chicken had a nice kick to it, so if you're sensitive to spice, you may want to consider one of the milder options. I enjoyed the heat, but it was definitely noticeable. The bowls were a good size and came with plenty of food. The combination of the spicy chicken, sweet yams, and charred broccoli worked really well together and made for a satisfying lunch. It was one of those meals that managed to be both healthy and tasty, which is harder to find than it should be. If you're dining in, you can also ask them to substitute the rice, making it an even better option for those looking for a lower-carb, high-protein meal. The guacamole was another standout. It tasted freshly made, was well seasoned, and paired perfectly with the chips. I kept looking at the half chickens coming out of the kitchen and will probably try one next time, but the Chicken Tinga bowl was substantial enough that I didn't feel like I was missing out. Good portions, fresh ingredients, plenty of protein, and very reasonable prices. Everything we ordered was enjoyable, and I'd gladly come back to try more of the menu.
