The elevator has a 4-person limit and going over that will cause the elevator to become stuck and beep very loud (which is so sketchy). The permit listed on the elevator expired in 2023 as well. It's always lively and bustling with younger AND older generations of Koreans plus plenty of non-Koreans looking to explore the culture! As someone who has lived in Koreatown his whole life, this place is a pillar of Korean-American culture. By the way, cell reception is completely non-existent in many areas of the mall including H-Mart and the food court. Restrooms are on the first floor.

If they have to do maintenance, they should avoid doing so during such busy hours. + Nicole's Coffee Shop was kind enough to validate my parking without me buying anything. I decided to support their business anyway. - The food court is very limited on hydrating, healthy drinks. I had barely walked around inside the Plaza for 15min when suddenly all the lights went out. Inside H-Mart was so dark. I ran outta there. Sunlight still shown through the windows, thankfully. Everyone was confused. I rushed back to my car in the parking garage and booked it outta there. Thankfully the gatekeeper's barricade arm was staying up (so my validated parking ticket didn't matter) so I could drive off quickly before the exit became a bottleneck. Turns out West LA had a blackout... the one time I ever visit LA! Shame, cuz I wanted to walk around Koreatown Plaza a little more before heading to the next checkpoint in my itinerary.

The first hour is free, after which it costs $5 for the first full hour, and then billed per subsequent 20-minute period, with a daily maximum of $35. Doesn't make it easy to stop by and try out all their stalls! There was a lot I wanted to learn or ask about, but I cut my trip short to be at the 1-hour mark. I got an americano, and my boyfriend got a white flat. We enjoyed seeing all the snack options, jams, cheeses, and pasta. Everything is so neatly organized and presented. It looks very clean. We noticed there's a lot of ingredients that look really unique to elevate a home cocktail experience...like candied ginger and dried peels. We bought some of those and brought home jams (strawberry, lemon) and spreads (hazelnut). It was a very exciting first trip; everything looked so shiny and exciting.

I've been visiting Ovation back when it was still called the Hollywood and Highland Center…read more Back then it used to have these amazing huge elephants on columns, but apparently, they were taken down because they referenced a filmmaker who was racist. If you didn't know the backstory, you'd never know. Now the plaza is rather plain. At least the bridges with views of the Hollywood sign are still there. When it's Oscar season, the shops are covered up with huge curtains and the red tiled grand staircase acts as a red carpet. My most recent visit was for the Chinese New Year celebrations. They had performers, a fashion show, and booths where you could do different things, like write down a wish and tie it up on a tree or get a special good luck red envelope that normally contains money, but in this case they stuffed them with coupons for a few of the nearby shops. The mall itself is a typical mall with stores you'd see anywhere else in the U.S., it's not crazy expensive like Rodeo Drive. The main difference is that the Chinese Movie Theater holds movie premieres and the Dolby Theater holds the Oscar Awards, so same, but not the same. I greatly appreciate the underground parking garage since parking is always an issue in L.A. and there are enough levels that if one level is full, you can just drive down to the next ones. I've had issues with paying for parking, though, everything from one of the machines not accepting my card only to find out I was charged twice, to paying a ridiculous amount because the event I went to at Dolby Theater wouldn't validate. My advice is to buy something, anything at one of the shops or restaurants so you can get that purple validation ticket. That way you'll pay $3 instead of an hour's worth of work or more, and make sure to put that purple ticket in first and then the regular white one. And no matter how many times I've been here, the zigzag directions for both the parking garage and escalators are disorienting, like why? Why not make it straightforward? Is the confusion on purpose to make us slow down? I've lost count of how many times I've been here and I'm sure that for one reason or another I'll be back because even though some parts of it are frustrating, for the most part it's good because of the special events it holds and the sheer energy of it being a tourist destination.

I don't think I go out of my way to visit the Grove, considering the distance and the difficulty of getting parking. Huge crowds, have to pay for parking, and even if you walk farther away, it's a risk to get towed and there's metered parking too that hit a 2 hour maximum, at least the last time I went there. Aside from accidentally wandering in here or being here for a specific event (seeing Yoshiki over a decade ago or the 20th anniversary Rilakkuma pop up, which was absolutely fisted with people), I've only wandered here on accident when hanging out with friends elsewhere. There's a good number of shops and eateries though, especially since it sort of shares the space/is right next to the Farmer's Market (great open area to go shop and to go dine). Large overlap of the same shops and eateries as the Americana, but there's things there that we don't have in Glendale. Lot of higher end businesses. Big fan of the La La Land Kind Cafe and what they do, their drinks, and their aesthetic. It's not a bad outdoors mall, considering how "fancy" it is, the fact that it's outside in the California sunshine, and the fountain with the Bellagio style musical water shows, but just know that the parking can get hideous.
