I'm not really big on just reviewing businesses. Why because I clearly think I 'm such a fantastic restaurant critic I don't want to lower myself. Or to me it just seems odd to review shops ect but I'm doing my best to come round to the Yelp way of thinking.
Meat at Muirs is a local butchers. I really like small local businesses and I try to support them where I can. I don't want to live in a word where Starbucks, or Tesco, or Subway sell me everything I need. Variety is the spice of life as "they" say *.
For a relatively small place it is very switched on. You can go on their facebook and see they do an eating challenge, giant man v food style burger www.facebook.com/meatatmuirs.elderslie. They also offer to deliver a cooked breakfast and tea or coffee to hung over people in the mornings for a fiver. If that isn't having your fingers on the pulse I don't know what is.
I've never tried the challenge, I've never used the hang over service but do I still think the place is great? YES! Why? Because it's served by real people that know what they're doing. They also do great value parcels, for normal weekday use: stew, mince, porkchops etc breakfast parcels: the usual suspects, BBQ packs: Sausages, flavoured burgers, ribs, chops.
I have tried all of these and they are great. During every purchase one of the parcels has contained something which I'd rather not have, or not containing something I really want. They let you swap things about. There is no, umm ... ehh .... I'll need to check with a supervisor. They just do it. The meat is slightly more expensive that if you were to go to a supermarket, but if you get a parcel I think that it is cheaper over all.
1 tip, listen to them. They know what they're talking about. After buying Chinese style pork I was asked how I intended to cook them, after discussing what to do for a while I was recommended a great method, in the oven wrapped in tin-foil with onions (possible peppers) above and below the pork. It was the best way I've ever cooked flavoured pork and since trying it I haven't done it any other way.
People of Paisley, whether your hung over, want to eat a gigantic 5 lb burger or just need someone who knows what they're talking about use these guys
*Sorry but I don't actually know who "they" are. read more
