A big name in North Lanarkshire when it comes to meat, with suitably big prices…read more No arguments though, really high quality meat in here that put the stuff in Asda to shame, with really good steaks that are just to dear for me to purchase on an even infrequent basis. If you dodge the big name though, there are a handful of other good butchers in Motherwell that aren't as expensive but are just as good in my opinion. Adams on Windmillhill Street is the place to be if you are after square sausage! They also do good fish in Chapmans.

Local butchers shop located in Abronhill shopping centre in Cumbernauld…read more The shop has a good variety of fresh meat which I am told is very tasty. ( I am a veggie but shop here for my family) They also carry a selection of cooked meats as well as offering a section of prepacked foods such as sausages, chicken potions, mixed grill etc which are good value at 3 for £5. The shop is bright and clean and remakably does not smell as bad as other butchers (I usualy cant go in to butchers because I hate the smell so much). I am told that the sausages are delicious. The staff are helpfull, friendly and welcoming. Good little shop

It's a kind of neddy place, where all the women look you up and down and think you're posh just because you say "please" and "thank you". I got 2 chicken breasts in here, but they cost me £4.31!! To be fair, they were of Jordan-esque proportions, but that's still a lot of money. When I got them home and started preparing them, they smelled a bit....funny. We cooked them well and ate them anyhow and they were fine. It's just annoying how a place can be so neddy yet so expensive.

I've just moved here and as an avid cook I wanted to befriend a good local butcher…read more Well, these guys didn't disappoint. From having a 5 min healthy discussion on preferences of wing-tip sirloin and ribs of beef I was given a sneeky peep round the back. These guys provide the beef for the best steak places in Glasgow. I'd eaten at one of them earlier in the week and my eyes were bulging at the trays of chateaubriands and rib in sirloins. So, as you'd expect, their meat is very well sourced and as good as you're going to get anywhere. I took a1kg 1rib Angus and pan roasted it in butter and wilted rosemary to get a good sear, then a quick 15 mins in the oven. I had it sat on some roasted beetroot puree with a port, wine and fresh beef stock reduction and the beef was some of the best I've ever eaten. Superb quality and ageing. Week after I wanted a lamb rump as I had the hunger for some dauphinoise. They were happy just to prep some up straight away, no fuss. The lamb was delicious........as was the dauph ;) ........and the sausages. Get the Italian fennel ones and slow cook cook them in your tomato sauce for pasta. Very, very impressive. Prices are as you'd expect for meat of this quality. Look on the window for weekly £10 deals. Steak and chicken. Well worth it.

And if that doesn't make you want to go as well, you're either a vegetarian, or just plain ole crazy (yes, those are different). Nice decor, welcoming, with a good layout and professional staff. Excellent selection of all sorts, including lamb burgers that are absolutely getting destroyed next visit. Delighted with my purchase today and will return. Enough said.
