Come to find out, the steam train did not have air conditioning . It was 95 degrees on this day. We were told that once off the train, a bus would take us up the hill to the winery. This turned out to be a regular school bus - again, with no air conditioning. Once we arrived, the grounds were beautiful however, standing in the sweltering heat while listening to the history of this vineyard went in vain. It was way too hot to stand outside to listen to a story after almost passing out. The "tour" was us sitting in a cool room listening to one of the owners talk about the process of wine making. We tasted four five different types of wine - all were mediocre at best. They were paired with small bites, also mediocre. Once the lecture was done, they tried to sell us everything under the table. We will not be coming here again. Out of all the vineyards in NJ, we picked the worst one. The kicker? They were selling cold beverages on the train - instead of providing it to passengers for free, at least a bottle of water.

I also liked the food pairing. The reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the pours were so small. It was barely two sips. I have NEVER been to a wine tasting with such small pours.

The bartender was very friendly and when my wife was unsure about what to get, she asked my wife what she usually drinks and recommended several options. My wife wound up going with the Mexican lager (Tres Payasos) while I chose to do a flight (which I typically do when visiting a brewery for the first time). My flight consisted of: 1) Cool Story M - blonde ale 2) Death Bossa Nova - dark lager 3) Maibock - bock/maibock (partially ordered because the name sounds like the car) 4) Wystouti - stout After the flight, I also got a half pour of their Mexican amber lager - Payaso Oscuro. We were there in between lunch and dinner so we did not have any food with our beer. Overall, a very pleasant experience. We plan to return in the future.

But the last few trips the customer service has really gone downhill. There are many other local shops that I've found in the area with similar selections and prices and MUCH better service. The issue really became clear when there was a problem with something I purchased (a scotch tasting set for a holiday gift). One of the bottles Included was wrong, but they offered a lot of push back on returning, even accusing me of tampering with it. No apology, no offer to make up for it - just attitude from the staff and manager. Again sad to see a once great place go so far downhill.

Flights are always a must for us when visiting a place for the first time and we enjoyed every taste. Standouts included the Doppelbock, Mango-Kiwi Fizzy, Godhi-Real Peach Fruit, and the most unexpected favorite, El Diablo Chelada, a beer-meets-Bloody-Mary situation. Even as someone who usually skips Bloody Marys, this one won us over. Bold, layered, and wildly drinkable. Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome inside the stunning barn-style tasting room, complete with warm wood paneling, oversized wagon-wheel chandeliers, plenty of seating, Rutgers pride, and a peek into the production area. Outside, pups can stretch out on the spacious deck and lawn overlooking the farm. Bonus points for fire pits where you can cozy up with a beer. The space is beautiful and has this cozy, lounge-esque bar-meets-coffee shop feel, with velvet green and blue seating, lots of plants, and a really warm, inviting vibe. We happened to visit during Trivia Night, which was cute and fun and surprisingly not too crowded with all the seating they have in the space. It seems like they host some fun events, so I'd definitely be interested in coming back for another one. The staff were also very warm and welcoming. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, which made a great first impression. We tried two of the honey wines: the Raspberry and Mango. I don't think honey wine is necessarily my cup of tea, but I'm glad I tried them! The Mango was very yummy, although definitely on the sweeter side. The Raspberry was much drier, but it wasn't my favorite and had a slightly medicinal flavor to me. I ended up going with the Tart Apple Cider instead, and I really enjoyed it. It was crisp, fresh-tasting, and not overly sweet. Definitely more my speed! The one area where I expected a little more was the coffee menu. Since I'd seen Middlemist pop up so much on social media, I was excited to see what they offered, but I found the coffee options somewhat limited. I was also surprised to find that they don't serve food, especially given the cozy coffee shop/lounge atmosphere. All in all, though, we had a good experience! The space is beautiful, the staff couldn't have been nicer, and I love that they seem to host different events throughout the week. I'll definitely have to come back and explore more of the menu!

The open and airy aesthetic is attractive, but the service and hospitality could definitely use some work. The menu on the board did not match the menu on the flight sheets you use to order the various types of honey wine and mead. Confusing. They recently started offering coffee as well. I ordered a hot cappuccino; it was decent enough, but cold. A large birthday party group came in after I'd been there for about an hour. I asked if I needed to leave, but was told it was not a problem as there was plenty of room, and other customers were still coming in. A man who was identified by another patron as being the owner walked past me several times--racial profiling?--but never once asked if I was a new visitor to the establishment and how I was enjoying everything. He missed an opportunity to build brand loyalty with me. It wasn't that busy, so I thought someone would maybe take the time to ask if I was enjoying my visit. Anywho, I tried the pineapple wine and the peach too, but the former was much better. Would I return? Maybe. They offer lots of group activities, including a book club and a paint and sip, which are up my alley. But if I get vibes that they only want "certain kinds of patrons" again, that's the last dime they will see from me.
