I'm content with the value provided by the stores, my haircuts don't disappoint for the price I pay (so worth the value), and the Starbucks inside the Target is also not bad. Brand new stores and lots of parking! So much better than assembly row! I can never park there! This little mall has a huge lot and I never have trouble finding a space. Marshalls is awesome and I love petco and Wegmans. It's a good spot to park and get some shopping done! Have you seen those commercials that ask where depression hurts? Well, the answer is the Meadow Glen Mall. This mall used to be great back in the day before online shopping and some of the other shopping centers in the area, but recently it is beginning to look like a ghost town. Every time we visit, more stores are closed and everything in the mall is falling apart. The main store here is Kohl's, and in comparison to others in the area, it's a joke. The food court is a shell of what it used to be and some of the small mom and pop shops have gone under. The only real restaurant in this mall is Home Town Buffet, and to be honest this is one of the only redeeming factors. In the end, this is a sad mall which used to be better. I hope that at some point they find a way to revive it. read more

Ah, the Ghetto Glen Mall. The mall where I always feel just a little bit dirtier walking out the door than I did walking in. The stores are straight out of the early 1990s. As are the people. I walk around half expecting for the zombies to attack. You'll never find anything at the height of fashion here. There won't be any furniture you'd like to take home. Or jewelry you'd dare give to someone you care about. But if you need a $1 pregnancy test? This is your mall. Need some fake jewels to fancy up for a night out? Yep, they've got it. If you're lucky you may even end up here when there's a sports memorabilia flea market going on, and there are some QUALITY men there, let me tell you. This last time I was there I even discovered that the dirty store that sells gross headbands and tongue rings with french ticklers now also do body piercing. But despite my snooping, I couldn't find where this *sterile* procedure would be done. Mm, yea. I'll skip. Ghetto Glen. Where all your dreams can come true. I rarely buy anything here, but I always enjoy coming. The food court is full of happy, chatting, smiling people. I have to come here sometimes with someone else, and being here puts me in a good mood. It has a lot of character. There's the fun/sketchy smoke shop, the oversized discount shoe place across the mall from there, the place that sells stuff you can get in Chinatown, the really cheap book place, and the tiling place that looks like it's falling apart and closed but isn't. Always nice little worlds to visit for a few minutes. It's got a subtle, magic vibe. I was thinking recently that I'd be really sad if they closed this down. read more

This is the worst mall freaking anywhere. The Meadow Glen Mall is like a ghost town and the second you walk in a big dark cloud of depression and despair follows you until you leave. Honestly, I have never seen a more despondent working staff in my life. Even if you are into people watching, stay away! You will get too depressed. Everyone I know originally from Medford always defends this mall, but let's be real. This mall is not what it used to be and will never be it again...it's game over for Meadow Glen. K.O. Back in the eighties, this was THE place to shop and be seen if you were a teenager. (Yes, I capitalized the word "the" on purpose.) But it isn't the eighties anymore, now is it. It's really sad how this place has turned into Medford's version of the old, dilapidated Mystic Mall eyesore that used to be in Chelsea, on Everett Avenue. Just....sad. It used to have a tello's and rainbow and all that, now it has a bunch of shoe stores that seem to go out of business before you can return your defective 'off the back of the truck' shoes. Kohl's is there. I'm not a fan, but my daughter loves the place. It's also got the worst Marshall's and other crap stores. I party? Not really what I think of when someone says the word "mall". I'd like to think that Meadowglen was just past its prime, but I'm not sure it ever had a prime considering that Kohl's is an anchor store and it's obvious from the exterior that this building has always been a kohl's That being said, this mall holds a few locally owned one-off businesses that, while not really my types of shops, are the types that should be supported- The bookstore and comic book shop come to mind. It's not terrible. I don't feel unsafe. I think people should hit up the local shops, and if you need a things remembered you might want to stop in and enjoy the lack of traffic which leads to a more relaxing experience. Seriously? I mean, seriously? This place is like the fifth ring of hell. There's a Marshalls, a truly pointless experience in shopping, (even as compared to other Marshalls), unless you're looking for small picture frames or random, unexpected kitchen-ware. And there's a *very* small Kohls that seems to stock more JC Penny-type items than Kohls...well, anywhere else does. There used to be a party store that stocked exactly the same crap that every other party store has, except their staff was inefficient and mostly not so competent. Hmm...Who could have predicted they would go out of business? This place can't even keep a Spencer's open. Really. And, no, the food court is not "decent," per another reviewer. It's grotty. The remainder of open stores are a revolving stage of even-more-awful flea-market ugggggh. Umm... Wow. So this is what happens to a mall when it's taken over by a street market. Every store might as well be outside on some New York City side street where stolen goods and illegally copied movies are sold. I bet you can barter here. The strange thing is, I went in looking for stamps and I see the familiar, red lined window of a CVS and I gravitated towards it. Only it wasn't a CVS...I'm pretty sure it once was a CVS, but now it's some Open Box store with the makeshifty sign and just piles of shit thrown in with some kid offering us assistance. No name tag, just a grey wife-beater and some sagging shorts. Nice. Another weird thing - there's a sushi restaurant in what was once obviously a store. What kind of kitchen is in there?! Oh what can I say about the Ghetto Meadow Mall (or the "Ghetto Glen Mall" as many call it). This is a sad mall now. Only because when I first moved here 15 years ago, this was a very hip and happening mall. They had many national chains inside the Mall (i.e. Old Navy, PacSun, Bath and Body Works, CVS, Spencer's, etc) and it was THE place to shop. BUT as better shopping centers were built, many tenants closed and moved out. (Old Navy and Bath and Body Works moved to the Gateway Center). Others, due to the tough economic times, have gone bankrupt or just closed up shop. Today this mall is anchored by a Kohl's (ex Bradlees) on one side, and a Marshall's on the other. The stores inside the mall are sad. Yes there's still Radio Shack and iParty, but besides those two, there's only a small handful of national retailers left. If a store front isn't closed up, it's then occupied by some shady fly-by-night store selling closeouts, or damaged merchandise, or rugs, or bad knock off shoes, or cheap clothes. As far as food in the food court. There's Panda Express, a Dunks, and a McDonald's. The mall used to have a Friendly's but that closed in the last round of Friendly's store closure. There is an Old Country Buffet at the other end of the mall next to Marshall's also. I'm not sure if the Ghetto Meadow meets the criteria of a "Dead Mall" but it certainly seems like its heading in that direction. Which is funny in itself, because when this mall opened in 1979, its competition was the Assembly Square Mall (which by the late 1990s was a dead mall), AND to a lesser extent the CambridgeSide Galleria (opened in 1990). Funny how this mall took off, killed the Assembly Square Mall, and now it's a dead mall itself (and Assembly Sq is having a revival of sorts right now). Honestly, I am waiting for the mall owners to evict everyone, level the mall, and turn it into either a big box retail center (like Gateway Center) OR sell it to a developer who most likely would build a Station Landing type complex. It would be far better suited that what is there now. I'm giving this mall two stars because it's such a sad state. read more

Yes, yes - the Long Island girl is reviewing another mall. But don't you worry: I can assure you that the Meadow Glen is more like a comedy show than an actual mall. Oh, dear Lord. That place cracks me up. And not in that good, wholesome way. At the front entrance, you will find a store to your right that specializes in fake handbags and doggie beds. I am not sure if the doggie beds are knock-offs or not, as I do not consider myself anything close to a doggie bed connoisseur by any means, but I can assure you that you can get doggie beds at this store. And keychains and I think some t-shirts, too. To the left is iParty. That's a really great party store and I think that is one of the main reasons the Meadow Glen Mall keeps afloat. Malls that have Friendlys in them make me giggle. I do like Friendlys (though my stomach doesn't all that much) but I usually prefer to go to Friendlys that have enough confidence to be their own separate restaurant! All kidding aside, this Friendlys looks like its seen better days, say around 1975. Ahh, wood paneling. So if you are looking to go to a Friendlys but you would really like the whole mall experience alongside it, you know where you can go! There's more little stores throughout, all of which are unremarkable and are more like glorified kiosks. And of course, no mall is complete without bunches of kids hanging out in front for hours and hours doing absolutely nothing. I don't know either! The big stores include Marshalls and Kohls, but you can enter those stores from outside the mall, thus rendering the mall itself still just kind of useless and bizarre. read more

It's a bit sad over here. A little dilapidated. I have tried to find the "up side" to this place. But, it takes a bit of digging. That's for damn sure. Here are the last few visits that have taken me here: New Years Eve: strapless bra, cheap and easy to find at Khols, searched through TJMAXX as well, but was a shite show over there... Such a mess! Christmas: peacoat for my bf, found at Khols, easy-peasy. Late fall: the video game store (gamestop?) to get BF call of duty, and the second hand bookstore so that I could get some cheap cookbooks. There is also a dunks in here. And a couple other places that you can get food, though I wouldn't think to eat there. That's about as good as it gets. read more

I made my first-ever trip to the Meadow Glen Mall the other day because I needed to pick up a few things from Gamestop. Alright, maybe I didn't exactly NEED them, but whatever. Details. Anyway, my first impressions of the mall weren't great. It's a pretty bleak place -- rundown and kinda grimy, with stores that I assumed went out of business in like 2003 (Spencer's? really?). There are definitely some cool stores in there too though. There's a little comic book shop that has tons of fun stuff to look at, including old-school consoles (Sega Dreamcast, anyone?) and all the latest issues of the standard comics. I was also pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Marshalls as well; it's actually a really good one! It isn't picked-over like the ones closer to the city. I was overwhelmed by how much cute stuff was there. So ok, maybe the Meadow Glen Mall isn't the classiest place in the world. But if you've got a lazy Sunday afternoon to fill, it's not a bad place to visit. Plus, you can stuff yourself at Old Country Buffet after getting your shopping-workout for the day. The last time I came here, I saw my ex's ex who gained about 10,000 pounds and looked miserable. Oh ....and I also noticed she was dragging along her two kids. It made me feel good. I used to come here as a kid and it was pretty cool. Times have been tough for this place though. There's a lot of ghetto shops in here, the types of stores you'll see on the Jersey Boardwalk if you know what I mean. The worst mall in America. I used to think this mall was terrible when I worked at the mcdonalds in high school. Since? Its inexplicably gotten worse. Stores like FYE and CVS have bolted, and the stores that remain are either not worth it or better in better quality elsewhere. Oh come on! This mall is good for a laugh. I'm not sure how we first happened upon Meadow Glen. Ah yes... it was the result of Croc-search 2007, when my big-foot beau decided he needed a pair of orange crocs. To every shoe store in all of Somerville, Medford and Cambridge we went. "Oh, this place has a Kohls, how bad could it be." We stopped the car and parked once we saw the sign for Old Country Buffet. We knew how bad it could be. Some of the 'finer' establishments within the mall include Olympia Sports, Foot Locker, a comic book store, Bath and Body Works, Kohls, and McDonalds. I am not going to call Marshall's nice, because it is not. And the iParty is a depressing excuse for a party store. The staff makes me want to die. Every store which I have not named personally appears to be a "temporary store" and cheers to entrepreneurship! But really.... who's running this mall? Do they have standards? Instances which brough us across the mighty Mystic River include "let's people watch at Ol' Country Buffet" and "I'm in the mood for nasty pizza" or "I don't want to drive more than 1/3 mile for a Celtics/Garnet t-shirt." read more

This mall is one of the only malls I frequent. I actually HATE the mall, but so far, I like this one ok. They have Blaze and Payless for the times I am feeling the need to stock up on even MORE shoes. So yeah, that is about the only two stores I have went in more than once. read more

Everyone here is trashing the Meadow Glen Mall; I think this is a GREAT Mall!!! the Kohls is nice, the Marshalls is great!! They have a PCX where you can get super cheap sweatshirts, hoodies, and other clothes that look sort of Gangster but I like them!!! There is a super cheap used book store, a buck shop a few other discount/remainder type of stores in the theme of Building 19 but smaller, All in all it is a great mall!! I NEVER feel nervous or like it is dangerous there; The old folks who hang out there are not skeezy , they just like an air conditioned place to hang out all day and schmooze with their pals. read more

Ghetto glen has a very interesting mix of stores. I wouldn't go here if you're looking to go on a shopping spree. The clothing stores are pretty low quality but I like the Marshalls and kohls. I look it as free entertainment walking through this mall. read more

It's a technically a mall but the stores in it are so random that it does not feel like one. It's like the Ocean State Job Lot of malls, there are a stores names you would recognize but not many. It's on the same level as the Watertown mall, Old Country Buffet and all. The food court is small and it's located in an odd spot spot near the front entrance. Wow! I haven't been to this mall in 20 years. Worked at York Steak house and K-B Toys! The place is just dead now. There is a Kohl's attached, meh. If i lived up there Kohl's would be the only store to hit up. Nothing else in that Mall is worth the trip. I can't believe how sad it is. This used to be the place to go! read more

I don't think that technically you should be able to call the Meadow Glenn Mall a Mall anymore. Unless the only criteria needed to be considered a mall is to have a lack luster food court and a Ole' Country Time Buffet. There is a Kohls located here, which is nice. It is made even nicer because it has it's own entrance and you do not have to step foot in the rest of the building. Here is what I generally noticed.....if you go here between 10am-2pm it is full of old people from the neighboring old folks home. Generally just walking around and being in the way. After 3pm it becomes a hang out for the neighboring school kids. Most of these kids seem to be of the punk variety, yelling shouting profanities. I would like to see this mall revamped totally. I think it can be successful, but it needs a total overhaul. Panda Garden in the food court is not going to sustain the mall. read more

Please forgive my grammar, but this is about my memories when being a teen and hanging at this mall in the early to mid 80's. I can't name all the stores, despite the fact of it being my second home, especially the summer of 85. When walking through the main entrance there was: York Steakhouse to the left, (became many things after, coconut records and iparty to name a few) while McDonalds was to the right. McDonalds was my first job while many other friends worked at York steakhouse. Once met Kiss 108's Sonny Jo White at York SH and I was blown away because the vision i had while listening to him on the radio, was nothing compared to what i saw. Friendly guy and great DJ just the same. Seeing it was the first of its kind around the Medford area, other than Service Merchandise which later became Sq 1 mall. I went and did my school clothes shopping at Tello's as they had Sergio Valente, Jordache jeans and either Members only or a Barracuda jackets. Spencers was shock and awe in those days with the items they had. Seems normal now for people to go in there out of habit, whereas back then, it was nothing never seen before. It was Bradlees before it became Kohl's. Wish i could remember the name of the original record store, it was by Tello's and was next to the pet store where they sold live animals. It was great. But, at that record store, the lead singer (Gary S) of "The Dream" AKA "Extreme" worked there. Someone reading this that knows these days that i speak of can approve/disapprove he did work there. Lol Being from Everett, my friends and i would walk from Glendale park to the MGM at least twice a day back and forth. While making pitstops before or after at Mystic Ave projects ;) LOL The days when everyone wasn't glued to their cells and t.v.'s. Lol Either way, many great memories of the MGM while there's a lot i had to leave out, but i'll never forget those days and will cherish them and that mall will be linked to my mischievous youth forever. read more
