My ipad mini dropped by accident and the screen was cracked. It was still working fine except the glass was broken and you could easily get cut. Again, everything was working like normal and the screen was just cracked..that's all. The ipad was brought in for repair on a dead battery because I forgot to charge it. I get a call from the guy here who said the ipad was charged up and the crack actually caused a black spot on the screen. If I wanted this fixed it's an extra $75. I told him I played with the ipad numerous times after it fell and there was no black spot. He stayed quiet. He probably thought I never saw the screen after it fell...not the case. I told him no, dont fix it and I'll see what he's talking about when I pick it up. Went the next day to pick up and saw the round black spot. I told him this was not there when it fell. Again, he said nothing. I told him how did the black spot appear and he said from the drop. Um, no thats not the case and I told him this wasn't there. Again, he said nothing. Once I got home my husband was very upset and called the location. He spoke to the guy and told him this was a crappy job he did and asked how the spot appeared. He actually told my husband the spot got worse after he opened the ipad to fix it. Clearly the spot appeared after you attempted to fix the glass. Why should we pay to fix your mistake????!!!! He never offered to fix his mess. What kind of customer service do you provide? None apparently. We actually thought bringing my device here was a mistake and we shouldve went to kings plaza mall and had the kiosk people fix it or even my neighborhood guy who does good work with apple products. Now, I have to pay double to fix his mistake. I will not leave this here, I'll be looking to file a complaint with this so called company. I will post a picture of the spot he caused on my ipad.

I looked up the model on EBay and ordered the replacement for like $25 I then took a chance and drive into Brooklyn on a Sunday and these guys were the best. I was pretty shocked when they said it would be ready...same day. For a totally reasonable price too. Pretty impressive. And then it was ready exactly when they said it would be. Now I have the laptop back home looking and working good as new. And my son needs it for his work tomorrow. You can't ask for better service than this so....they get 5 stars.

They told me they will call me before putting the phone screen on to ask. I got a call about an hour later stating that the only damage on my phone was the screen. I asked a few times as I originally wanted to trade my phone in with apple, but if it was only the screen that was damaged, I would reconsider. They told me they would use an original iphone screen as they ran out of the better quality screen. I opt-in for the original screen which I paid extra for. I was in a rush when i got my phone and didnt check it throughly. The screen is not original. So if they ran out of better quality screen and my screen isnt original, did I pay extra for the lower quality screen? A week after the fix, I had noticed that the light sensor wasn't working on my phone. I do believe that when I gave my phone in, they told me they would check my phone to ensure everything was working. And that included the light sensor. I took it to the store, left it for a few hours only to be told the "ribbon" was damaged by the "cracked screen". When i told them it was never cracked, they changed their reasoning to water damage. I was given attitude as I tried to reason. The service would be a 1star as I did not get the original screen which I was promised. The service is also a 1star as I was given attitude when I went in for discovering another damage which I was told prior that the water only damaged the screen.

So it's been quite a while since I've needed to pay a visit to the Smart Addiction shop and now…read morethey are in a different location than those first times that I needed their help. Recently I miscalculated my stride on some steps and came crashing down with my mobile in my hand and while I wasn't injured, my phones corner glass was smashed. I was mad for the most part since the phone is only five months old and didn't have insurance on it. Before you chide me about that, I should mention that I've never so much as scratched a phone screen in the 25 or so years of using these devices. End of streak. So anyway after being scolded by Verizon, I headed to the Smart Addiction store which is also known as "iFixit New York, Bay Ridge" location to assess the damage and the cost to repair. Sadly, the screen for this particular model was not in stock and would need to be ordered. I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL since I rather like a large phone based on all the web and social media stuff I do. The other downside would be the cost of $300 to replace and repair this broken screen. They said the Google phones are costly repairs so the part was ordered and I waited a few days. Once it was in the shop they took my device for a few hours and all was good as new. The staff is friendly but as technicians they are more interested in getting the job done efficiently for the customer. I told them the exact happening that got the breakage for them to be aware in case such actions lead to other issues. It's always best to be honest with the technicians. If you spill something on a laptop, let them know, if you drop your phone out a window, let them know etc. All in all I am glad that they are here and I hope that its a while before I have to come in there again since I don't like breaking things. Another good option at this location in Bay Ridge is that they have one of those Go Lockers so you can direct Amazon, FedEx and more to so you don't miss a delivery while you are at work. The next day, they called me and said that the problem is with Software, which they can fix for $150. I decided to wait with the repair, as I was soon about to go to visit my son and wanted to show my laptop to my son first. It turned out that it was just the lighting of the screen went to zero and the son showed me 2 buttons that regulate the illumination of the screen, one with a plus, the other with a minus. After such an experience, I will never turn to this company again and will not advise others. Now I understand why among Russian -speaking in America there is a distrust of Russian businesses. I messaged them on Yelp and they were very responsive. They also had the lowest quote and fastest delivery time compared to other places which told me about 1-2 weeks. I went in to put a deposit so that they could order the screen for me. 4 days later they messaged me and told me I can come in to fix my screen. When i went in there, they said it'll take like 40 minutes to fix so I decided to have lunch around the area and came back for my phone afterwards. Phone screen was fixed. New screen is responsive to touch. Color is not bad either altho there is a small spot on the screen which is somewhat brighter. Its not really noticeable for me so I don't really care. Phone screen protector and case was supposed to be free, but since they don't normally carry Huawei products, I got a free case for my sister instead who had a Samsung phone.

I took my Iphone 6 Plus here because my original quote through yelp for this place was the most reasonable. When I went to actually get the work done, the man I met with said that the home button needed to be replaced as well. This brought the price up by $30. Okay fine. Only thing is, he failed to tell me that the replacement button 1. Would not function the same as the original 2. Would not support touch ID. I got my phone back and not only did the home button not work, but the sensor (near the front camera) did not work either. Whenever, I made a call and placed the phone to my ear, it would not know to turn the screen off, so I ended up "ear dialing" other contacts while already on the phone. I took the phone back complaining about the issues and the gentleman who repaired it insisted that I had had some prior repairs which contributed to the sensor not working. He also said he forgot to tell me that touch ID would not work on the replacement home button. He offered to put my old screen back on and return my money. He sifted through cracked screens and produced what he insisted was my original cracked screen. It was not my screen, my screen was so destroyed that it could not be reattached. This was why I was so confused that he would offer to put it back on. After saying repeated that the mildly cracked screen he had pulled out was "100 percent" my original screen, I asked him to look again. He finally found my actual screen which had chunks of glass falling off(as I remembered it) and said oh, okay, here is your screen. When he pulled off the new screen, he found that there was a sticker covering the sensor and that was why it was not working. He apologized and asked if I wanted to proceed with putting the old screen back on now that he'd realized the issue. I told him it was fine to keep the new screen on, as long as the sensor worked correctly. All in all it was a huge hassle, and I have to press home repeatedly AND hold my phone at a certain position to get it to turn on from sleep mode. Hopefully, I'll never be in an emergency situation where I need my phone to make a call right away.
