Stopped by Shun Fat to pick up some groceries while getting ingredients ready for dinner, and…read moreoverall found some pretty solid deals. For meat, I grabbed ground beef, pork neck (currently on sale for $1.99/lb), and chicken breast. Prices were definitely reasonable. For produce, quite a few items were cheaper than H Mart, including enoki mushrooms, Japanese yam, daikon, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and carrots. That said, the Japanese yam didn't look very fresh this time, so I ended up skipping it and buying it at H Mart instead, even though it was a bit more expensive. Some items were priced about the same as H Mart, like napa cabbage ($0.99/lb), onions ($0.39/lb), and bean sprouts ($0.99 per pack). One change I noticed is that cucumbers are now pre-packaged instead of being sold loose, so you can't pick them individually anymore. They're also slightly more expensive than H Mart now. They also had a great deal on Driscoll's strawberries, $0.99 for a 1 lb box, which is definitely worth picking up. Overall, still a great spot for affordable grocery shopping, especially if you're cooking at home and want to save a bit here and there. (visited on 3/31/2026)

The store carries a large variety of ethnic groceries but main focus is asian foods and canned goods. They have many types of fresh, tropical fruits and freshly butchered meats and fish. I usually shop there when I'm in the area running errands. Long lines at checkout most of the times but they have many open registers so the lines do move quickly. Check them out if you're in area.

When I was a little boy, my dad would take me and my sister to the Furiwa restaurant in Garden…read moreGrove on Brookhurst almost every weekend for dim sum. We went so often that the dim sum aunties already knew what we wanted. Instead of taking our order, they would ask about our family while they placed our usuals on the table. My absolute favorite thing to get was the turnip cake with egg. My dad would always order it, and as a picky 5 year old, I didn't want to eat it. Turnips? Yuck! But he would always order it, and every time, the dim sum aunties would bring out a hot steaming plate for him. It would always smell so good, and the hot steam looked so enticing. Eventually, curiosity got the better of me, and I had a nibble. And another. And another. And soon, I was eating half the plate! You could imagine how sad I was to hear that Furiwa closed. But while scrolling on food delivery apps, I discovered that Furiwa had rebranded as a catering and takeout business. I didn't care how much the prices were. No dim sum restaurant in Orange County, dare I say even the greater LA area, especially any rhyming with schmea-schmood-schmove schmumber-schmwo, ever compared to Furiwa for me. No kung pao chicken or turnip cake has ever tasted the same. The turnip cake is soft and perfectly gooey, with the occasional light crunch of a turnip. The crust is slightly crispy and topped with a warm egg, sprinkled with scallions. Taking that first bite again was years in the making. Despite being delivered, the food is still fresh and delicious. The shumai is perfect. The rice rolls are soft with the most satisfying texture. Of course, nothing beats eating it fresh in a restaurant, but I'm glad I found a new outlet to enjoy Furiwa's recipes. I hope that they will re-open their restaurant again. But until then, I will continue to order takeout from Furiwa To-Go.

You can also select your seafood, and they will cook it on the spot for you while you wait, and add a side of stir fry veggies to it. I sometimes get food from the hot items bar if I am looking for a quick meal. There are lots of healthy items. The dessert selection here is also great and my favorite is the BERRY CHANTILLY CAKE! The customer service is always pretty friendly and the wait is pretty short. Happy eating! Yelp Review #36- 2026

Only reason I went to whole pay check today was for the purpose of getting organic date syrup as a better nutrient rich, sugar alternative to my coffee and ended up picking up organic blood orange Italian soda on sale--without noticing there's 42 grams of sugar in every 12 ounce serving, more than a can of trusty coke. Oof! My bad, but it was pretty tasty nonetheless. I don't often go here but they have stuff normal stores don't. Call me crazy but I think for the price point and items they have in rotation here you'd expect things to be less--ghetto in some aspects. Let a lady behind me go ahead of me because she only had one item, so I made room at the front of the conveyor belt for her to put down her hot item. Meanwhile girl (Gina?) at the check out wasn't paying attention and pushes the button to move the conveyor belt forward, so I had to move my stuff back to make room. As the lady is putting her stuff down, the cashier pushes the button again for my stuff to run into hers. I said, "hold up, I'm letting the lady in front of me go first." The cashier says nothing. Then I realize the older lady I just let go in front of me didn't either. Are people in HB just devoid of manners? Y'all be acting like you were raised by wolves. Man. Just talking about this is ruining my peace. This is why I shop at grocery outlet and Costco, lol - SMH.

Current pricing is $35.50/pound so ours came out to $44.38. My favorites are Rum nougat, Peanut nougat, Almond nougat (all the nougats) and Mayfair. My husband loves Milk and Dark California Brittle, Cashew Brittle (all the brittles) and Scotchmallow. They were featuring a special Dark Coffee Scotchmallow for May so got a couple of those too. See's Candies also make a great gift so I recently got the 2 pound box ($63) for my brother's family. One thing that's not widely advertised is when the staff offers you a free chocolate, you can actually ask for a specific chocolate instead and they'll give it to you. So Rum Nougat for me!

Only noticed this spot because I was picking up my Amazon package at the Whole Foods next door. The only other See's in the area I frequent is the one at South Coast Plaza - so definitely happy to discover this one that is much closer than me. One of the gals told me they've been here for almost 20 years! First day of October, and they have all their wonderful Halloween treats up! I had to snap some photos of course - normally I wouldn't, since most people know what inside of a See's looks like - but I really like how organized and clean this store has their display. I was greeted right away by the super friendly clerk. I didn't catch her name - I don't think she's the one that's on my receipt though since the cashier was a different gal (Ashlee P according to my receipt) - but both clerks were friendly! I turned down their sample since it looked like it had nuts in it - not allergic or anything - I just prefer my chocolate to be smooth. Zero'd in on a small custom box of Milk Chocolate Butterscotch Squares. These really hit the spot for me. Probably my all-time favorite candy to get at See's. Total for about ten pieces was a little over $15 - comes in a nice little box that they seal on-site. It's really not that much when you consider the quality, the freshness - you can taste the freshness in each bite. You can get a custom blend of your favorite flavor(s) - and See's was started in California. Awesome customer service, great parking (the lot never really gets full), super cool Halloween-themed gifts - will definitely visit more often now that I know they are here!
