I had heard about this place for a long time now and there is nothing better than a fresh chicken. What's the difference you might ask. Well, there is a huge difference in the texture of the chicken meat. However, since I was only making soup with it today, it really shouldn't matter, but since I was in the area, I decided to check it out. The place is clean. It didn't stink either. I had been to the chicken place in LA's chinatown and it stank like high heaven. I couldn't bear to be in there for more than a minute or two. This place is definitely a winner in my book. There are 2 types of chicken -- brown or regular. The regular ones are HUGE, like capons. The brown ones are $9 each and the capon ones are sold by the pound. When I brought it home, the feet and head were still intact. I totally forgot that they sold chickens this way in Asia. OH BOY! So here I am trying to get rid of the head.... I used some poultry shears and OMG, I got such a bad case of heeby jeebies and let out a few shouts here and there. One time, I accidentally poked the eye and it opened. WHOA!!! Next time I'm having them remove the head before I bring it home.

One day momma came home lugging bags of chicken. Me: Momma. Why do you keep buying so much chicken? There's no room in any of the three fridges. Momma: Don't tell me what I can't do. Besides, you're going to finish the chicken. She cooks the chickens into Ca-ri/curry, makes rotisserie chicken, fries 'em up. She even made popcorn chicken. And guess what? I ate everything. Damn, glad I picked her as my mom. The chicken at Dakao is fresh. It's a storefront with a lot of workers dealing with a lot of dead chickens in front of your eyes. There's usually a line out the door but it moves quickly. My mom used to go to the chicken store down on Westminster/Harbor but no more. Dakao is her go-to place. They have free range/American, bones, eggs, the chewy chicken....I don't know all the names. You can also pick male/female, too. A whole chicken is $11.00. Notes: -Curb parking all around the store -Accepts cash/credit -If you go towards the end of the day, it'll be scrawny chickens as your selection. You can try to haggle

Mostly fat, does this look like it's worth $4 a pound?? They mixed up fat and other parts while charging me money for drumsticks.

Live fresh chicken for a great price. You can also get the gizzards from here as well. Not going to complain about the smell

The pork jowl and pork belly are DIVINE - clearly high quality. Workers hand us a sticker with specs about the preparation and aging process, which is oddly charming and shows how much pride they take in their meat. The staff even cooks everything for us, so we can sit back and stuff our faces. The sides are great too. Tangy pickled or fermented veggies, sweet pineapple, mushrooms, and soups help cut through all that richness from the fat. The pork and kimchi soup especially hits - it's super comforting and balances out the meal. This is also a great alternative if you're craving BBQ but don't have the stomach space for AYCE. These portions leave us full and satisfied every time. Overall, an amazing spot for a casual, pork-centric feast!

Arrived at 5: 20pm and there was only two parties ahead of us. Not bad! We were seated and from the way the table was setup, it gave an authentic Korean restaurant vibe. We went ahead and ordered their Combo B meal ($69) which had three types of meat, kimchi soup, and a soup of our choice. Restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Pork Jowl tasted tender and the cooks were able to prepare it just right. Skirt meat was also tasty. Portions were just perfect for a party of 2. We had a great time dining in here. Will definitely come back again.

Restaurant is clean and spacious with plenty of tables - even tabletop seating if you want to eat solo. Soy Sauce Raw Marinated Crab (5/5) ($89 for two crabs) - Hands down the best tasting soy sauce raw marinated crabs in Orange County (and maybe even in Los Angeles)! They use fresh female Korean caught crabs which makes all the difference. The meat is tender, sweet, filled with roe, and not at all fishy! They marinate the crabs in a delicious soy sauce that has the perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness. Squeeze the crab meat out on hot rice, seaweed, and sesame oil for a delicious bite. Love how the sauce wasn't overly salty or filled with msg like other places, so you can pour the sauce over your rice to your heart's content. The dish comes with a spicy jalapeno and boiled egg. Beef Rib Soup (4/5): ($20 for lunch, $25 for dinner) - Fall off the bone tender beef rib! The soup comes piping hot and has such a depth of flavor from the beef bone and red dates. Dish comes with glass noodles and shredded egg. Very comforting and goes well when taking a break from eating the raw crabs. The banchan are abundant, tasty, and fresh! You can tell they made them with love & care. They're not overly seasoned and really complimented our meal. Service was friendly and attentive. The ladies are so sweet and even gave us warm barley tea to try. Much appreciated in this cold weather! I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes, especially the steamers.

The order process was pretty simple -- I responded to their Instagram story and they reached out with follow-up questions, menu options, and pickup details. The pickup was from a home residence in the city of Garden Grove (off of Brookhurst Street and Hazard Avenue), nearby Pho 79 if you're familiar with the area. The exact address is provided with your order! The owner, Aamir, was very friendly and professional when I picked up my food and the burgers were packaged very neatly in separate boxes. I ordered two smash burgers that included three patties each, which cost $15 per burger. They included caramelized onions and jalapenos, which were a delightful surprise. The patties were a little salty, but upon reading the other reviews, I see that the owner pre-marinates the patty meat. The prices were also steep for just the burger, and I thought my order would come with fries on the side, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the food. All in all, I would return for future orders and would love to see them open a brick-and-mortar restaurant someday, ideally in Garden Grove still. 10/10 rating and five stars all around for a seamless ordering experience, delicious food, and timeless customer service.

The owner is super responsive, and you can tell he wants to provide the best service possible. During this special pop-up event, they were serving two's a tango that features their warm brioche bun along with two halal patties smashed with cheese and carmelized onions on top. The burger itself was massive, with one being more than enough to feed a hungry person. After talking to the owner, he mentioned he pre-marinates his meat, so that could be the reason why the taste was a little salty for us. The sauce is awesome and complimentary, so when ordering, if you don't plan on eating the burger right away, to prevent sogginess, ask for extra on the side. I know some people prefer the meatiness, but I am a sauce type of girl. Overall, the flavors of the burger meshed well! Thank you for adding another place for halal goodness. I'm hoping you guys do well and keep quality up.
