I've been here multiple times for drinks and french fries. This is a Dive bar that serves food, so I wouldn't come ready for a 3 course meal. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. I would primarily recommend this location to stop in for a quick drink or two. For Coronado the drinks are reasonably priced. They have a wonderful outdoor area where you can sit in the sun and people watch. I think people rate this location pooly because of the Coronado expectations. read more

Wow - with the wait this place has, you'd think it would be half-way decent. Spoiler alert: it's not. The food is BAD and the drinks are expensive. When I say the food is bad, it's all frozen or from a box. The kids' Mac N Cheese is literally Kraft. $7 for Kraft Mac N Cheese. The chicken on the salads come from a grocery deli. The burger patties are frozen. The fries are also frozen. The drinks are way over priced. How does this place survive? Tourists only? Tourists who don't check reviews? I'm just shocked. We spent $100 after having sent our salads back because they were that bad. Even the oyster crackers were stale. Side note: Even though it says this place is kid friendly, there are no changing stations in the restrooms. read more

Need to stop allowing old guys to smoke their cigars on the patio next to kids and regular people. The cigar-smoking man next to us said "there is no evidence behind second hand smoke" and his wife boasted about how many times she's survived cancer from smoking...pure cringe. Vibes could be great if they modernized. read more

I'm a regular here. This is an all time favorite and a must when visiting South Lake. The cottage pie is hands down my favorite. It has ground beef with mashed potatoes and veggies. Ask for their house hot sauce on the side. Also, their chicken nuggets for an app, French onion soup, fish and chip, and of course the corned beef and cabbage. Order a Moscow mule or a Pliny the Elder. Or both!! I love a good Pilsner too. Their craft selection is diverse and tasty. It's a small cottage building with two floors. Staff is kind and fun, but be patient. You will wait a bit for service. But I promise it's worth it!! read more

Been coming since 1991. Have seen a lot of changes. Food is always good. Just wish the Mulligan stew was year round again. I miss it in the summer. French fries and gravy is the best. We love San Diego. We ride bikes over to Coronado Island all the time. We stopped in for a scotch, and if anybody wants to see Christian Slater's look alike, / doppelgänger, just take a visit at this amazing bar. He has a wonderful personality and was able to turn us on to some wonderful different selections of whiskey. A great time was had by all! Thank you, Mr. P's, we will be back ASAP! read more

A busy sunday lunch time crowd. We only had drinks as we were drawn by the live music. An energetic patio crowd with a trio playing covers. I had an red Irish ale (Sedgewick?). Located on Orange street with a good mix of eateries and stores, and a short walk to the beach. read more

Eh, it's OK I guess. It's very touristy but everything on this island is. It's also the first stop on the island that the Old Town Trolley Tours drops you off at, so you know they are catering to tourists. I had the fish taco (singular, not plural) for $5.50. The fish stick on it was beer battered, served on a corn tortilla, topped with cabbage and cilantro. It was served with a sour cream based sauce on the side with just a tad bit of spiciness to it that gave it a good flavor. All in all, it was typical pub fare. Nothing out of the ordinary. They have about a dozen beers on tap and about a dozen bottles available. They also have about 7 red wines and 7 white wines available. The beers, wines and food selections are all listed on their website, so I won't post menu photos here. I had a Black and Orange - half Guinness and half CBC Orange Wit (a local brew). It was good - I'm usually not a Guinness fan, but the orange wit cut it enough where I could handle it (this was $7 for a pint though - ouch). The inside - kind of dark and dreary. The outside patio - first of all, why would you NOT sit outside in San Diego??? Their patio is nicely shaded, with nice big trees and umbrellas on the tables that aren't fortunate enough to be situated under a tree. The food and drink came out quick! Excellent service. Pro-tip - the Old Town Trolley Tour map book includes a 10 percent coupon for this place. The waitress saw the map sitting on my table and she informed me if - she didn't have to do that, so I'm raising them from 3 stars to 4 stars. Based on that tip and also her quick and friendly service. read more

Burgers were awesome! The fries were great- stayed crispy and hot to the bottom. Wait staff were hustling. Ours seemed initially intimidated- there were 30 of us- but she did great! The evening was chilly but the heaters outside did the trick. read more

Atmosphere Open air Coronado-inside seating in cute cottage also available. There are fire pits for sitting around as small or larger group. Service Multiple waitstaff-very attentive. Food Okay-take a deep breath-because I m so fully satisfied. I usually order a ruben at Irish pubs-this one was the BEST one EVER! Wow! Tons of meat, buttery toaSted rye bread, sauce on the side, tangY sauerkraut. Enough for two. Could've had a side but...my friend had a french dip sandwich with sweet potato fries. Fries were plentiful and just right crispy. Meat was tender and fat free-not gristly. Perfect! Note A group of people in wheel chairs arrived and were immediately accommodated. Summary Casual outdoor restaurant with immediate service and food that will remind you of Thanksgiving yumminess read more

I passed by McP's Irish Pub about a month ago when I was visiting Coronado with a friend. They had fun music playing outside that drew a crowd. I made a mental note to myself to come here the next time I was in the area. Well, I found myself in Coronado again this past weekend so I made my friend get lunch with me here. We came a bit too early so we didn't get to enjoy the live music unfortunately. The band started playing at 2pm but we got there around noon. I was craving a bacon cheeseburger that morning although I had been intending to order the corned beef. I regret going for the bacon cheeseburger since it wasn't all that great. It was mediocre especially for the hefty price tag. The one thing I noticed here is that it's not environmentally friendly. They use plastic disposable cups when you order a non-alcoholic drink, it's the kind you'd get as a water cup from a fast food place. When you get a re-fill they give you a new cup which I understand is by state law, however what's wrong with using a regular reusable glass? My friend ordered alcohol and her drink was in a glass but I got a soda which was served in a disposable cup. I think they should consider going green. This place is alright, I regret that our timing was off so we didn't get to enjoy the music but it was still nice to sit outside. Service was at a leisurely pace but not bad. read more

I have definitely been to Irish pubs with more charm and a better atmosphere and truly better food. There is not much appeal from the outside and the patio area was just okay. Our server was amazing though and very friendly and helpful. I love Irish pub food and have been to many so maybe I was a little disheartened by our experience but it is definitely a more casual and less pretentious place to hang out than most of Coronado. read more

Loved the food, straight forward menu, warm and energetic vibe with live music. Drinks were delicious and served promptly. Highlight and joy of the evening was the service. FILTHY PATIO!!! We popped in here for a lunch bite while visiting Coronado. The patio says "sit at any clean table" We made our way to a "clean" table in the shade. The table is so filthy I feel like I need a shower! The tables have old food and caked on condiments from years of not cleaning them. Yuk! The food is typical Irish fare. I had the Reuben sandwich and it was good. The service is only so-so. We had to flag the server down several times for iced tea as he did not check on us once the food was delivered. All in all the filthy grimy atmosphere was a real downer for me. I wouldn't ever return with the state of their cleanliness. read more

Everything you can ask for in a Irish pub, a live band, good drinks, a lot tv's for watching games, etc. and great friendly atmosphere. What a great place drink and hang out with friends. I loved that the place wasn't so uptight compared to other restaurants on Coronado Island. The food was great. We ordered the wings and the a shepherds pie, instead of lamb, it was made out of ground beef. My fiancé has never ate a Shepherds pie and he had nothing but great things to say about it! My go to meal next time we visit! We will definitely be returning again! read more

1. Thanks for replacing that worn and tattered Irish flag with a new one! 2. Eager to try the Bangers and Mash. 3. Smithwick's on tap! 4. BTW: It's Paddy's Day not Patty's Day. Patty is a girl's name. So the menu should read: "St. Paddy's Day Patty" 5. See you again soon! read more

Used to be run by a great family. It's used to be called McPartlins but now with new ownership, they've changed the name, recipes and reputation. I've been there since and it's AWFUL. Service is completely absent, the waiters never check on you and when you need something they're rude. The food is just repulsive. I wouldn't even call the cocktails drinks, they're just mixers and bad ones at that. From all the one stars you see here since new ownership, shows just how bad it is. It's extremely disappointing to see a once great family establishment go downhill so badly, all due to a hateful new owner. Shame on you. read more

Looking for a fun place to go on Coronado Island? Go to McP's Irish Pub. The food is amazing! Also live music. We enjoyed a corn beef sandwich,Buffalo wings and yummy pretzels today. They charged me $8 for two club sodas. I've never been charged for water before. The fish n chips was two small pieces as the full order, not half for $20+ I go to Irish pubs for decent portion sizes at fair prices. This wasn't it. Felt extremely ripped off. read more

Went here the weekend before the shutdown and thoroughly enjoyed myself. We were a fairly large party and they seated us right away. They have fairly typical bar food but it is very tasty. We come here all the time post dog beach for a beer, tuna melt, or pretzel! Great outdoor patio, and occasionally on the weekend you can catch a band ripping in the adjacent parking lot. I'm definitely in the minority, but I thought this place was a bit lame. First of all, I'm not sure why it's called an Irish pub. I've been to a lot of Irish pubs in my life, and there was very little about this place that made me think of Ireland. It was just a regular bar and grill....unless selling Guineas is the only thing required to be an Irish Pub. It was freezing outside, and they wouldn't turn on a single heat lamp for us or raise the temperature of the fire table for liability reasons. Again.....lame!!!! My son's burger was overcooked; my wife's lettuce wraps tasted like nothing more than sweet and sour sauce dumped on chicken; my reuben sandwich was mediocre at best. Fyi, Rubens are supposed to have Russian dressing not thousand Island. If you're going to charge $20 for a sandwich, at least make it right. This was just cold corned beef on heated rye; it literally tasted like Oscar Mayer corned beef on Rye bread. And they nickel and dime you on everything here. 3% technology fee? A fee for splitting checks? Never coming back. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the patio. Our meal was delivered quickly. It was severed hot with all the extras we asked for. Service was good, water glasses filled regularly. Thank you, Marty-guy in seat 21D that recommended we eat here. Great meal! We were told that this is where the locals eat, and so surely it would be good. He was not wrong! The restaurant is located right along the Main Street in Coronado....a block or two from Hotel Del. There is comfortable patio seating surrounded by beautiful trees and bushes. I'm obsessed with patio dining. The menu is expansive and highlights some favorites-one of them was this stew that I ordered. It was amazing. Not to be missed, for sure! read more

Honestly was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews but was glad I gave this place a try. The food was good. I got a Shepards pie which I enjoyed. Our table split chips, salsa and guacamole. Their salsa and chips were okay but the guacamole was delicious. No frills low key place to enjoy a drink or hang out with friends/family. Bad food poisoning! I should have read the review before coming here. I'm sure people come for the drinks, like the locals or people visiting on vacation and have no where else to go. But yuck on the food. Even sent back the shepherds pie. You call this shepherds pie, you should been a shamed of yourselves. Looked like something I dumped out of a dog food can on to a plate, added cheese and put it in the microwave. Appetizer chips, we're just stale chips, covered in cheese from a can I'm sure from Costco or vons down the street. And mounted with jalapeños. You need to change your oil, the fish and chips came out, and the dark crunchies on top of the fried fish is from the oil being bad. Then bitting into it you can taste how bad oil throws off your fish. We live in Chula Vista and 5 mins before I got home, we had upset stomachs, and wanting to throw up. Hurried driving home and threw up as soon as I stepped in my house. Spent $75 after sending the shepherds pie back. I could Have gotten better dinner from McDonald's down the street. I'll pass and not come back. read more
