I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

We had two bedrooms with carpet and I wanted to remove it and get laminate or vinyl flooring, because the carpet was very dirty, even professional cleaning couldn't help. I called Mike and he was able to stop by in a few hours to give me an estimate. He showed up on time as we talked. He said there might be a hardwood under the carpet, cut piece of carpet and yes, he was right, there was hardwood, but in very bad condition. Then I changed my mind and instead of laminate or vinyl we decided to keep old hardwood and restore it, so I could save a lot of money and have floors better than I was going to have. Mike gave me an estimate and told me how much time it would take, I decided to go ahead with his quote. A week later Ikram and Vova came early in the morning, removed my old carpet, removed some old wood panels, installed new ones, sanded whole floor, buffed it and applied clear coat on it. And everything was done in one day!!! I paid little extra so I can get three coats of lacquer-they came two more times to apply clear coats again. The service was done as it was promised, no extra charges, no delays. They worked very carefully and didn't leave any dust even the work was very dirty. One stair was completely replaced because it was cracked and leaking water into the garage. They were able to build a new stair that looked just like the original! Also I'm nervous about their billing setup generally - it got hacked last year and I almost got scammed out of $11k. And during the job itself, they had to take the crew off of our job for an "emergency" somewhere else, leaving a big gap where there wasn't any progress while we had an active construction site at our house. I understand some level of scheduling issues but this was really frustrating. So overall, I'd say all of this put a really bad taste in my mouth, and I'd be really torn on whether to work with them again. The work was tremendous but I can live without surprise interruptions and liens on my house.

I have wholeheartedly recommended Quality Painting & Construction to my friends. For detail, I had Ilya add a steel beam, several posts, add a new bathroom, remodel my kitchen and bathroom to the studs. They were very efficient, detailed and considerate, even helping with small errands like return a large exhaust fan to UPS when the original one sent was dented. Their experience shows throughout the process, and I felt respected and confident, even though this was my first major renovation. The project took slightly longer than estimated, but when I told Ilya that I had a relative who needed to move in with me, they moved heaven and earth to finish within a week. That said, they still continued to address small concerns after the fact, like painting the outside where an old electrical panel was moved, helping to repaint a small deck where lots of foot traffic had worn away the paint and now fixing a large drain pipe that has been leaking (note that the plumbers they sub to - Perez - are not my favorite). For costs, Quality are quite reasonable with a warranty that they stand behind. Ilya will always go above and beyond to ensure his clients are satisfied with the work delivered.
