I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

We had two bedrooms with carpet and I wanted to remove it and get laminate or vinyl flooring, because the carpet was very dirty, even professional cleaning couldn't help. I called Mike and he was able to stop by in a few hours to give me an estimate. He showed up on time as we talked. He said there might be a hardwood under the carpet, cut piece of carpet and yes, he was right, there was hardwood, but in very bad condition. Then I changed my mind and instead of laminate or vinyl we decided to keep old hardwood and restore it, so I could save a lot of money and have floors better than I was going to have. Mike gave me an estimate and told me how much time it would take, I decided to go ahead with his quote. A week later Ikram and Vova came early in the morning, removed my old carpet, removed some old wood panels, installed new ones, sanded whole floor, buffed it and applied clear coat on it. And everything was done in one day!!! I paid little extra so I can get three coats of lacquer-they came two more times to apply clear coats again. The service was done as it was promised, no extra charges, no delays. They worked very carefully and didn't leave any dust even the work was very dirty. One stair was completely replaced because it was cracked and leaking water into the garage. They were able to build a new stair that looked just like the original! You literally cannot tell the difference - colors match perfectly - it's really an art! We just had our first rain and no more leaks, and the stairs are beautiful! When they originally came to scope the project out we explicitly talked about some extra things - but then at the end of the job they said they actually weren't in scope and wanted me to pay extra. Then, when I held back on paying the final bill until that was resolved, they unwarned put a mechanic's lien on our house. Also I'm nervous about their billing setup generally - it got hacked last year and I almost got scammed out of $11k. And during the job itself, they had to take the crew off of our job for an "emergency" somewhere else, leaving a big gap where there wasn't any progress while we had an active construction site at our house. I understand some level of scheduling issues but this was really frustrating. So overall, I'd say all of this put a really bad taste in my mouth, and I'd be really torn on whether to work with them again. The work was tremendous but I can live without surprise interruptions and liens on my house.

We met Dan after he did a job for my brothers apartment, who found him on Yelp. Dan was super responsive and reliable. He replied to all our emails and calls. He showed up on time as promised, and was super clean and attentive. He put down protective mats in the hallways and wiped up any spills. Dan came across as very honest and down to earth. Almost a rare quality this day and age. The quality of his work was amazing. All the grout lines were exact and evenly spaced. The tile was laid out true and square. He check his work as he proceeded, ensuring things stayed aligned. There were only two small items we felt that needed correcting and he did so immediately. We are so impressed with his work and can't recommend him enough. We have one job left and have already planned for him to do that as well. Please consider using Dan if you have any sized job.

They were also lazy . . . not covering a hardwood floor they were crossing in their work boots until we told them to. And we parked on the street so they could cut tiles in our garage, but they never even swept once--they left a thick carpet of white tile dust. Other subs I've worked with cleaned up each day.
