OK, as a vegetarian, I'm gonna start this post out for all you fellow veggies by saying YES, they have a freaking awesome plant based impossible burger !! And it's huge !! It's a must stop !! so I was coming down the mountain and realized I only had a very little time left before they closed, so I got there right as they were stopping taking orders (3:45) maybe even a couple minutes late, but she took mine anyways and was happy to do so without any problem, which is the first awesome thing I will say about this experience. I wish I would've caught her name, because she made my day !!Second thing I would like to mention is the price and how huge the portions are. The price was comparable to everywhere else and it was not marked up for being how far it was away from the actual Kernville town. If you don't know, there's only so many places to eat in the Kernville town and up on the mountain, especially for vegetarians, so I feel like I've pretty much tried them all except for some strange reason I haven't tried the McNally's down in the Kernville town, but will now !...But what I wanted to mention, and I will name some other places nameless, but I've ordered stuff and spent $20+(which I feel is normal these days unfortunately) and left still feeling hungry. But not at McNally Burgers !! I ordered the impossible burger, which was huge and I also ordered a large side of fries, freaking delish !!! The only thing I'm bummed about is that I've been coming up here for about five years now and I haven't stopped here sooner. Bravo McNally's !! Thank you for having an awesome veggie option on the menu for us I will definitely start being a regular customer up the road and in town ! I hadn't been here in about a decade, but I used to love their veggie burgers and had to stop by to see if they were still the same. I mentioned to the guy behind the counter how I used to love the veggie burgers, and he said they still had the exact same thing so I ordered it immediately! I was not disappointed! As I remembered, it had a huge patty that covered the entire bun and made people that ordered just the hamburger a bit jealous. The first-place trophy for the best burger in town goes to McNally's Famous Hamburgers. Second place is a ball drop and the sound of cricket because they are competing on their own. Not a single restaurant once you enter Sequoia National Forest. The next closest restaurant is 22 miles south in Kernville. And if you are hungry, it's the only option during lunch hours. Outdoor dining is available with a few tables outside. However, the meal took a while because only one person was working the grill and cashier. During the daytime, the burger stand is open, and in the evening, there is an indoor dining area. There is also a convenient store a few steps away, and lodges are available for overnight stays. Perk - they have FREE Wi-Fi for customers. What we ordered: CHEESEBURGER (lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and homemade special sauce) - McNally's claims that their "hamburgers are made from freshly ground choice cuts of beef right here at their own restaurant." The fact that they prepare their ground beef indicates that they don't rely on third-party companies to make pre-stamped patties. The burger tasted like a home-cooked meal, and it was good, nothing special. FRENCH FRIES - Skinny fries, about the size of a small fries at McDonald's. The total cost of the meal with a drink was pricey at close to $20, but it's the only option around, so McNally's call the shots. read more

Stopped for a bite to eat before checking in for our stay. Enjoyed the burgers and fries down by the river. Located next to the restaurant and market. Nice seating areas throughout, friendly people and nice views. Lots of people camping along the river, floating around and rafting. Beware of bees in summer time. Lots of them hanging around. They have lots of options and we're quick. Lots of local and tourist business coming through. The sign says "World Famous". Come grab a bite and see for yourself! This place is awesome. The burgers a delicious and quality! I used to go to McNallys often as a kid in the 90s. Too bad the river has become such a hot spot for LA folk during the summer! They bring traffic and trash. But this little spot bangs out the food and keeps up qith the traffic pretty well! read more

We wanted to go to Mcnalley's Fairview Lodge for a steak for dinner the night before but a brushfire shut down the road the day before so it was a no go. The next day, we needed to head back to L.A. but wanted to get a hike/walk in first. As usual, we're really late risers but left the Kernville area a little before 3:30 PM. They close at 4p according to yelp and we weren't sure we would make it in time. As we got on the road, I called them to confirm what time they close (4p) and asked them when they take their last order. The kind gentleman that answered (the owner?) said they usually take the last order at 10 till. Hmmmm. We weren't going to make it by then, so I sheepishly asked if I could place the order and we'd be there right around 4p to pay for it. It was an easy order so he was fine with it and we wanted to support the small businesses that have been dealing with this covid craziness. We got there at just before 4p and there was a line up for the order window. I was thinking we didn't need to call it in after all, but once I went around to the window where you pick up the food, I could hear then telling the next in line they weren't taking any more orders. Those folks weren't too pleased but I'm glad we were able to get our order in and we were able to enjoy a Mcnalleys burger and fries before we ventured further. The order was spot on (one had grilled onions) and I didn't realize they put pickles on there but those made their way to the boyfriend's burger! Overall, a good sized burger and a nice stop on your way to/fro nature. We'd go back... and we'd also make sure we get going a bit earlier next time! Btw, I thought it was cash only but they were accepting credit cards when we were there last weekend (6/13/20). read more

A close drive from the Trail of 100 giants we came here after our time exploring the trail hungry for a good burger. Most of the people there were doing the same! The burgers were delicious and freshly made on the spot. Do yourself a favor and get a side of their potato salad because its great! Its all outdoor seating so make sure to be ready to possibly sit in the heat or have unexpected bug vistors during your meal. On our way home from visiting the Trail of 100 Giants, we stopped by McNally's Burger stand. Even though I couldn't eat my whole burger, due to getting car sick, I did finish my burger at home, along with the fries. But I did manage to shovel in some fries and was so surprised at how delicious the fries were! I LOVE shoestring fries and these reminded me of Hot Dog on a Stick fries. They were salted perfectly and even though we got a small, it seemed like we got a large order of fries. I ordered a 3 oz hamburger, which came with lettuce mixed with 1000 island-like dressing, tomato, (no onion on mine) and pickles. The bun size and fluff was perfect with the patty. This stand is located a few miles outside of the downtown Kernville area and next to a general store/motel. We stopped by here around 3:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. I would've taken a pic of the hours but wasn't well enough to get out of the car. There aren't very many options for food around this area, so we were really excited when we found this spot. Family went to McNalley's day before yesterday. To add to everyone's comments, this place is great and affordable! There is easy access to the river near by, which in some sense a great dessert for the soul :-). The burgers were rated by the family as some best they had ever had, and the fries were stupendous! Daughter in Law got the big burger and named it "The Impossible Burger" because it was impossible to eat. This is a must stop for everyone in the Kernville and Lake Isabella area. read more

I was visiting during Biltwell's Kernville Kampout and ended up stopping here with my group of friends on the way back from the Trail of 100 Giants! I'm vegan so I didn't expect to be able to eat.... really anything. I inquired about the fries first as there was no fried meat on the menu aaaand while they were in fact fried in a frier that didn't touch meat, the gal taking orders informed me they use "canola oil shortening" to fry them. Shortening of any kind is usually lard-based so... no fries for me. I decided to order a veggie sandwich with the usual veggie fixings, and ketchup. Not the most exciting but I wanted something in my stomach for the moment. I skipped the cheese, "special sauce" and mayo. I did NOT expect what they gave me. They had freaking BEYOND MEAT! How did this happen? Why wasn't it noted or mentioned anywhere???? Y'all need to advertise this! We had 3 other vegans/vegetarians in our fairly large group but because we rode out on motorcycles and everyone trickled in, instead of rolling in all together, I was the only one who ended up getting a Beyond Meat Burger. I was soooo excited! I just still can't believe it wasn't mentioned anywhere. One star reduction becauseeeee I would love to have had some fries :P please consider switching to veggie shortening or oil! read more

The food is pretty good and the location is fabulous. However, the service is horrendously slow. I arrived with a pile of hungry kids shortly before 2:00 PM on a Saturday. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes I finally placed my order. There were 9 orders in front of me in line, but I figured that a restaurant which only serves hot dogs and burgers couldn't take too long to power through those orders. I received my food shortly after 3:00 PM. I waited in line, fending off a pack of ravenous children, for over an hour before finally getting my food. I have never seen such an inefficient food service process. I watched them prepare the orders one at a time. My burgers weren't cooking until the previous patron's meal was completely served. Even then it took about 10 minutes just to prepare my 4 burgers. All told the food and location were too good for a one star review, but eating here is kind of like making a baked potato. Order when you aren't hungry because by the time the food is ready, you'll be starving. read more

This is a good burger, but it's not what it use to be. To me it now taste like an In-N-Out burger for $9.50 with cheese.

Make sure to call to find out if they're open before making the drive. You won't find a better burger in town. I don't eat red meat often but when I want a burger, this is the place I want to go to. Be patient if they're busy and be ready to eat outdoors. But honestly there are few things better than a McNally's burger eaten outside in the mountains. This place is NOT closed. Was here all weekend. Their burgers are very delicious, 3oz and 6oz, the works or add bacon. They hit the spot perfectly when you've been out all day and want a quick bite. We usually take them down to the horse shoes and order a beer from the bar when it opens at 4pm. The fries are delicious and the employees are very kind and patient with your order. They somewhat take a while to cook, so expect a bit of a wait since it's the only restaurant for miles. Great food, great people! Please give them your business! I love mcnallys burgers. Normally you will wait in a long line and then wait again a while for the food. But it's worth every minute. I believe it's a cash only, I haven't been for about 8 months. I've been coming here for almost 15 years and they have never disappointed me. I heard their burgers are made with the left over steaks from the night before. This is why they have so much flavor.
