Menu delicious. Bartenders friendly and welcoming. Old West vibe that sucks me in every time. Can't get enough. Happy dance for a pit stop or longer.

Love the food & the friendly staff! And they have a full bar next door so that's always a plus... We rode with the HOG and they had plenty of parking inside the parking lot and outside on the side of the road.

Ate here at least 2 times a day while staying right around the corner. Really enjoyed the breakfast burrito, the club sandwich, the hamburgers and the fries and onion rings!! The vibe was laid back. The man who greeted us upon arrival (I believe he was the owner as his there were photos of him and his wife on the wall) was very welcoming; unfortunately, we never saw him again after being seated. To preface the experience we had, It's worth noting that we were the only table in the entire restaurant. The waitress was not very friendly and was extremely unattentive. We had to flag her down for everything from ordering, to getting silverware, to actually checking out. She never once checked in with us to see how our food was or offer us refills on drinks. We also ordered a well drink from the bar and she automatically upcharged us without asking. As a former bartender I am all for upselling, but don't charge a customer for greygoose when they ordered a well vodka. Once we were finished eating we sat there for a good 15 minutes as she was outside on the patio smoking and chatting with her friends. When she did check us out she seemed bothered by us even being there and never once said thank you. The food itself was ok, we had two of their sandwiches with onion rings and fries. Overall though, I can't recommend this spot, which is sad because I love supporting local businesses. Hopefully this was just an off day for them.

A local lunch and dinner spot for ranchers, locals, hunters and travelers coming and going from the Sequoia National Forest and surrounding areas. Place was busy when we arrived but we were able to be seated, great friendly staff who seemed to know the regulars and locals. Gretchen was our server happy smiling greeting us and ready to get us started with cocktails and reciting the evenings specials. Greatly prepared cocktails quenched our thirst from the Central Valley heat. Gretchen happily took our order as we enjoyed our cocktails and the western decor throughout the interior, full bar with high top seating and also outside seating under a covered patio. Our salads came out and I was very impressed with the quality of this dinner salad, delicious house made croutons were in the salads as well as fresh local produce but the pièce de résistance was the blue cheese crumbles. Plenty of them along with thick cut bacon. Not your average dinner salad included in an entree. The other salads were just as good with house made dressings. Our entrees came out and let me tell you there was plenty of them, Cowpunchers is known for their "Grandmas Green Beans" which comes with the dinner entrees and the best green beans I have ever had (don't tell my mom ). The chicken fried steak was outstanding smothered I. Country gravy, the butterflied shrimp was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, and my steak was cooked to perfection. A very good cut of meat and I would only assume from local sources because we were in cattle ranch country. Great seasoning on the steak with perfect marbling. The sides that came with our entrees were all perfectly paired with the proteins, whipped buttery mashed potatoes, good sized baked potato with the fixings. It was a delicious dining experience for us all, Gretchen checked on us numerous times with her pretty smile and happy demeanor. The menu is very reasonably priced making it very affordable in these unaffordable times. Great food located in a remote area, with friendly staff and cold libations the Cowpuncher's is like an oasis to anyone passing through or working hard in the Central Valley heat. This place is worth the trip and you truly will not be disappointed, well done Cowpuncher's. Bravissimo e delizioso tutti!

So we drove down and randomly saw this place and decided to have dinner. We ended up speaking with the owner. We asked about lodging and he told us he did not have anything available. He came back to ask us how we're doing and we asked if there was other lodging close by. He said they would most likely be booked. We told him about the night before and how we were very unprepared for cold weather. In front of him I told my boyfriend that we can sleep in the truck again, no worries. Next thing I know the owner came by again and said he has a camper for friends and family that no one is in and he offered it to us, saying he felt bad that we froze. We were elated. I have never felt more grateful and it reminded me that there really are kind souls. He walked us over and provided us towels and turned the heat up. It was perfect. We sat by the fire pit with others, who all had nothing but kind words about this place. People come every year and stay here. I felt such a warm welcome from everyone. My boyfriend and I are so thankful for the owners. We both said we can't wait to come here more and hopefully decades down the road we can stay in the same camper and reminisce. I will tell everyone about this place. It's nothing fancy but it's definitely special! Thank you for making my entire weekend.

While we were sitting at our table eating, the bartender suddenly cut us off. Shortly after, our waitress came over and accused us of being "disrespectful" and "rowdy" toward other guests, which was completely false. At no point were we causing a disturbance or bothering anyone. We were simply enjoying our meal and time together. Instead of approaching the situation professionally or having an honest conversation, we were unfairly judged and embarrassed in front of other customers. After spending hundreds of dollars, this is the last way anyone should be treated. The service completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. We left feeling shocked, disrespected, and unwelcome. Unfortunately, because of how we were treated, we will never return and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Last year I made a large reservation for about 10 ladies to celebrate someone and on the way to the restaurant they called to confirm the reservation (about 30 minutes before), but I did not hear my phone. When I arrived, a distraught friend told me that they did not have our reservation so I asked what the issue was. The manager told me because I did not confirm, they were not sure they were going to hold the table. I apologized that I had not recieved a call, but asked if we could still have the table (I was there on time and could see the large table with the reservation note on it). The manager begrungenly said they would allow us to still dine with them, but they said they would not seat us until more of our party arrived. I asked if we could wait for our party at the bar, but they said they would not because every seat at the bar was taken. So just a heads up, you cannot stand at the bar, you cannot stand around the restaurant, and they do not have a place to sit and wait for your table, you just have to stand outside (I'm sure it has to do with safety or firecodes, I didn't argue, we waited outside until people at the bar left). Once we were seated, the staff was not friendly. Wondering if we should leave or not, I called a friend who works near the building who frequents this place often on what I should do. He told me to go back inside and that the staff would be nice. When I returned, a new server came to our table with a tray of shots and said they would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. I figured maybe the manager and that other server was just having a bad day, my friend must have called the restaurant and asked his most trusted server to help us, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. I didn't want to risk it another bad experience, so I haven't returned since. A few months ago during the whole Cesar Chavez news broke out, that friend who frequented the place went with another friend to the Botonist and was talking about the news while they were dining. The manager overheard. Later when my friends were getting ready to leave, the manager started becoming upset with my friends and told my guy friend, "I HOPE SOMEBODY R*PES YOU". Stunned, he asked her to repeat herself and she did. My friends left. The chefs and building are wonderful, but obviously something needs to be done about the management and staff with being professional and treating customers with respect. I've worked in the service industry and understand how stressful it can be, but I have always been able to keep my cool around people who are trying to enjoy a nice meal. Hoping they recieve the help they need as I love to see my community thrive.
