We hired McLeod to replace the very large roof-top garden deck for our 10-unit condominium building. The rotting wood deck surface was almost covered with built-in planter boxes that contained thousands of pounds of pea gravel, mulch, and dead plants. All of this had to be demolished & removed off the underlying concrete slab. Previously we had interviewed several commercial contractors, but McLeod was the only contractor who confidently said they could readily handle the demolition. They performed this feat in less than 2 weeks which was phenomenal, as everything had to be hand-bagged and carried down an outside stairwell to the garage below, which they loaded out daily, allowing us to still have full use of the garage. Upon removal it was revealed that the membrane sealant on our slab base had been corroded and also needed to be replaced, which was a known possibility. McLeod has a roofing division and they submitted the best proposal for remediation and were chosen for this job as well. A two-ply torch down roof was applied and the quality of the seaming and application was extremely good. This job took a little over 2 weeks, which was good considering the size of the deck and the complexities of meeting the seams up to the sides of our building. By the time we were able to start the actual deck rebuild, we knew that McLeod's workmanship would be great - but it ended up being exceptional! No corner on our deck was built at 90 degrees - it is very angular and the way they cut and matched the angles was exacting & impressive. The McLeod project manager was at our sight every day. He kept us informed of everything every step of the way and answered all our questions. The work teams arrived on time every day and worked 5 days a week, every week. If your building has a major project need, McLeod has several different divisions and can handle most anything from decks to roofs to siding, and delivers beyond expectations. read more

Property managers hired them to do construction at our rental. We were given paper notices on our door for when this or that would be repaired, only for them to get delayed again and again. There were multiple units being worked on in our area so our complex & parking lot was strewn with construction debris, nails, falling pieces of wood while they worked on roofing, etc. I lost count of how many nails got stuck in my tire. The worst part was when they did glass work and the glass SHATTERED all over the unit during the removal process early in the morning. I was finding chunks of glass months later. There was no apology, no contact from management. Just a MESS. The absolute most unprofessional construction company I've ever come across. It is unfortunate that as renters we don't have a choice as to who gets hired to do work on our place of residence. I assume they are one of the more affordable options because my complex is known to hire the cheapest possible labor (eye roll) - but if YOU have the choice please save yourself the trouble & steer clear. read more

DO NOT HIRE! LOOK AT THE VIOLATIONS ON L&I WEBSITE! Repairs began December 2024 and they approved my occupancy June 2025. Before moving in, I found construction defects, damage to personal property, they completely missed items on the scope causing breach of contact, had to replace plumbing fixtures but never submitted a change order, and dozens more. I don't think the insurance company is aware they've been charged for items Mcleod SKIPPED or multiple items added (ex: the scope says to paint window trim in the Entry but there is no window trim). After moving in I discovered multiple fire hazards, plumbing issues, handles were uneven or partially unscrewed, dirt and debris in the new cabinets and drawers, equipment left behind, and so much more. Because of the safety hazards and multiple construction issues- I filed a complaint with L&I and contacted the city permitting office. They are receiving a violation from L&I for doing electrical without a permit and for not obtaining a building permit. They did not apply for a permit until Aug 2025- TWO months AFTER we moved back in. IT'S BEEN OVER 365 DAYS SINCE REPAIRS STARTED AND THE PERMIT IS STILL NOT APPROVED! read more

From the emergency repair team that came to stop the flooding from above, to the mitigation team that came to do the tear down and treatment, to the ceiling repair that made everything look like new, I have never experienced such a high bar of professional competence. (My experiences haven't been terrible, but they haven't always been this great.) Everyone was quick, hard-working, communicative, and friendly on top of that. You guys clearly know what you're doing and so do your crews. For something as traumatizing as a flood of water coming from the middle of my ceiling, I can't believe how smoothly everything has gone. They are the worst! Beware! The property manager hired them to do repairs on the unit below mine. They couldn't find the source of the leak. It took them about a week to figure it out. Up down up down. In out in out. Kept trying different things. At one point he had my shower, sink, and toilet flushing all at the same time. Still couldn't find the leak. he said, "it must be your unit." They ripped up the unit below (even though the unit below said they didn't have a leak.) Then McLeod billed me for it. Over 4000.00 Only to find out the main source of the leak was my neighbors' unit. They came into my unit. Jumped in my shower and all of the sudden, after a week, I had a leak too. So that justifed that guy ripping up the unit below and charging me for it. Don't trust them. If you do use them watch them the whole time. I actually recorded the guy jumping in my shower. When I confronted them about the poor service they didn't even bother to respond. I can't say it enough, don't trust these guys. read more

A year and a half ago, what was once a vision, an idea, became a reality. With the intent to sell a 28 y.o. condo down the road, we chose McLeod Construction to remodel 2 bathrooms, re-tile a kitchen floor and fireplace surround, change all floor, door and window trim, paint everything from ceiling to floor, replace bedroom carpets and kitchen appliances. We had McLeod Construction completely rebuild a 3/4 bath with extensive water damage and replace two old wooden decks. One deck was replaced with a concrete landing with handrails, while the other deck was replaced with a concrete patio and ADA ramp with handrails. Josh Ross and the other McLeod staff were pleasant, professional, quick to respond to calls and emails, and communicated costs and other details clearly at all times. The work was done quickly. The quality of the work is excellent. For the portions of the work that were done by subcontractors chosen by McLeod, all of the same was true of the subcontractors as well. read more

McLeod provided a master craftsman as the superintendent who did an amazing job installing Canyon County cabinets and ensuring every detail was attended to. McLeod Construction just completed remodeling for us a small five-bedroom, one-bath, Seattle house built in 1931 that had hardly changed since. We are extremely pleased with the results. Quality work and clear, timely communication were the keys. The project involved removing the old staircase to open up room for a new kitchen, then creating beautiful new curved stairways from basement to second floor. We added two bathrooms, a deck, and a dormer for upstairs bedrooms. The building required complete upgrading to current structural, electrical, and plumbing codes. The contractor and architect worked smoothly together. McLeod's project manager guided us through the initial bidding process, scheduling, and change orders -- making sure that we were clear about what would be done at what cost. We had walk-throughs each week with the McLeod team over the months of work. We appreciated that finish carpentry and work detail were very skilled and attractive. Nothing but the Facts These are the facts. McLeod demolished my dining room wall and part of my ceiling due to a water leak from unit above. They showed up at my place several times for the mitigation unannounced even though they said they would call ahead of time. When the mitigation was complete, I asked what the next step was and I was told they would be in contact with me to schedule putting my wall back up. No one ever called me. I called them several times and was told Joe would call me. Joe never called me. When I called again I was given another person's contact info who was supposed to be in charge - Deb Hardy. I called her and left a message. She never called me. They did the job for the unit above mine where the leak had originated from. This happened 2 months ago. Opinion part: Karen, the lady that took my phone call on several occasions is very condescending and obviously not helpful. If you don't want to do a job just say so. McLeod has some good workers but I would never in a million years be able to recommend them. read more

They sent out Javier to fix those items, and Javier did a great job. It's unfortunate it took writing this review to get there attention. Im leaving my rating as is because there were other issues not addressed and the experience was less than stellar. Although we do appreciate that they offered to fix a couple items. I would just say if you use McLeod read the quote carefully to see what work they will actually perform. We had some water damage @ our condo, and the HOA hired Mcleod to do the repair work. The unit above me had a lose screw connecting their washing machine hose to the wall, requiring drywall repairs in 3 areas, and painting in my entry, bedroom, living, dining and kitchen. Matt was a 1 man renovation team, and he did an excellent job! It was obvious he took pride in his work, and I appreciated his positive, friendly attitude. Kiley, who coordinated was also helpful when called with questions, always pleasant and knowledgeable. Matt enjoys people, and very responsive to requests. He went above and beyond with details, such as bringing a new door latch for my washer/dryer closet door, and supplying a magnet to hold my washer lid up while loading and unloading. The results are everything looks better than ever. The people upstairs were also very pleased with the job Mcleod did, replacing the wood floors in their unit. We experienced a water leak in our unit and our HOA hired them. They could not figure out the water leak and wanted to gut our ceilings. They showed up a couple of times but did not do any work (other than asbestos testing) and charged us $1,800. We had a local plumber come out and diagnosed the issue within 5 minutes of arriving... The leak was due to a leaking kitchen faucet upstairs. The local plumber did not charge us anything. Beware of this company. They will scam you for money. They are unprofessional. They will do absolutely nothing, yet charge you $1,800!! read more

The only people that tried to actually help and did an amazing job coordinating everything were Stephany and Jesse. Everyone else (people taking out my dry wall, fixing, painting and installing everything) did horrible from McLeod. The "painters" or "contractors" or whoever was taking out my dry wall and painting did a very sloppy job. I had to repeat myself several times to: not leave any lines when painting or make the walls look even in color and texture or please do not open my door to people knocking without my permission. Greg and Drew were the ones that were painting and finishing with the dry walls, ceilings, etc. They left a huge mess of dust ALL over my home. Before anyone started working on my home they promised it would be a fast and near job. Nope. Took more than 3 weeks and it was super messy. My kitchen lights had dust, I asked who will fix that and was told cleaning would come in but cleaner was not able to reach so Greg came back in and dusted my kitchen lights with A DIRTY PAINT BRUSH When I told him the paint he did and the paint on my other walls doesn't match he said "close enough" .... I had to contact the project manager, Stephany to resolve this because he wasn't even listening to what I was saying. Then he kept using my paper towels, using my restroom and then leaving a huge mess of water splashed everywhere, wanting paper from me to make notes SO UNPROFESSIONAL ..... at the end I had enough, emailed Stephany and thanked her for trying to help and now STILL have to clean my kitchen lights on the ceiling..:( Unless you want to keep repeating yourself and having to take time out of your day to contact the project manager DO NOT use Mcleod...or at least don't have Greg and Drew work on your place I even had to repeat myself that my carpet was professionally cleaned from their mess (thankfully Stephany arranged it) and I wanted them to put a cover over it or take off their shoes since I didn't want a dirty carpet again Oh yea, I got a huge red carpet stain and told them about it and Brian (another worker) said "well that looks like cool aid" NO I NEVER DRINK COOL AID ...I don't even drink anything red ..it was from their red chalk I'm just glad they're gone but thankful to Stephany for helping me out. The people they contracted to do my kitchen floors did a perfect job. Very amazed with their quick and amazing job. The cleaner they contracted (Melody) was pretty good, just couldn't reach my kitchen light fixtures since they were put up without being dusted first ...Gregs fault, I even had to remind him that the lights had to be put back up... Seriously... There were other problems Greg and Drew and some other people caused (forgot their names) but I don't want to spend any more time thinking about their lazy and sloppy work I am thankful Jesse (worked on my unit for 1 day) brought a hepa filter later (to not have so much debris and dust) and tried fixing a few mistakes from the previous people read more

We've been extremely unhappy with how McLeod has handled deck repairs as part of a larger project at our complex. The nature of this work restricts us from entering or leaving our units for *9 hours* on EACH day the construction is scheduled. Originally we were told June 15/16. It's now June 26 and they're still not done. They completely missed the first (sunny) 3 days due to "miscommunications". Then there were sunny days they just didn't show up. Yes, a few days had rain and forced a reschedule. But they left conflicting signs up all over, and ALWAYS failed to communicate in a timely manner on days when construction was weather delayed. My husband and I are running ragged, because this is fully 2 weeks of leaving the house far before we normally would (construction presumably starts at 8AM each day) to get to work since we can't risk being trapped. And on one or two of the days they attempted to schedule the work, it was CLEARLY predicted to rain days in advance. A company who truly "understands the difficulty in working around occupied units" (their words, on their often-delayed delay handouts) would at least avoid asking us to upend our lives and leave early on days they were never going to be able to work anyway. I would consider other contracting companies long before going with this company - and if you do hire them, expect to spend time coping with poor communication. read more

Reprehensible company! Do not hire. Our condo association hired them to remove fireplaces, bricks, drywall, and carpet in 2 condos. It is 7 months later and they did not finish the job. They also left 2 huge piles of junk in the backyards of these poor residents. When we told them to get back here and clean up their mess they denied they left any mess behind. We had to take pictures to prove it. Then, they did not even dismantle the fireplace of one resident so the job was not complete. Seven months for such a simple job is outrageous. We'll say 5 months due to Covid. Still outrageous. We had to hire another company to complete the job, and listen up McLeod, you can be sure we'll deduct that from the invoice. read more

Our condo association hired McLeod to install new siding and windows. While the project took approximately an extra month, the job looks acceptable. The problem came about when they were finishing up by painting the doors, which took place around the end of June. As part of painting my front door, they removed the old weather stripping, which is understandable. After two weeks went by, I contacted the project manager (Isel) to find out when the new weather stripping would be installed. I was told that they were waiting for the paint to dry and that the crew would be revisiting the site shortly. After two weeks, I contacted Isel, again asking when the weather stripping would be installed. Once again, he informed me that they were waiting for the paint to dry on the doors before proceeding. Keep in mind, this was towards the beginning of the warm stretch that we experienced; 80 degrees every day. I have experience with painting an family members who own their own painting company. I know that paint would not take over two weeks to cure. I continued to contact Isel every two to four weeks. I received an additional excuse, which was that the weather stripping that was going to be used was sticking to the doors and removing the paint after the door was opened. Fast forward to the beginning of October; yes, 3 1/2 months after the door was painted. As I write this review, McLeod has finally started installing the new weather stripping. I suppose that I should be happy that they did so before winter arrived. Based on the appearance of either incompetence or just a simple lack of follow through and care to finish the work, I would highly advise selecting a different company if you are looking to have construction work performed on your home. read more

I am the board president of the HOA that the homeowner lives in who wrote the negative review about Mcleod with regard to the doors and the weather stripping. As board president, I was the HOA point person who oversaw our 1.7 million dollar residing project that Mcleod completed on our buildings. I have worked closely with them through the entire project, and was very "hands on", attending weekly construction meetings with them and our architect. As such, I believe I am far better qualified than the homeowner who is merely complaining, mostly about the weather stripping around his entry door, to give an opinion on the work that Mcleod completed. I would rate their work as very good to excellent, and I recommend them to any HOA looking for a contractor to do building envelope project. The two things I believe count the most in a contractor is that the HOA be able to have confidence in the quality and durability of the end project, and that the HOA find a contractor they can work well with, and Mcleod scores high on both of these. I have confidence that our new building envelope is going to withstand the NW rainy weather for many years to come. I also found Mcleod very easy to work with and responsive to problems that came up during the final stages of the project.. Isel Tamayo, our project manager, in particular has bent over backwards to make right the problems that occurred during the last phase of our project, specifically problems with the painting of the doors, and the gutters. Considering the enormity of our 1.7 million dollar project, and all the work that Mcleod completed well for us, the problem with the weather stripping is pretty insignificant, and would probably comprise about .0001% of the overall work Mcleod did - if that. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is just because I don't think five star contractors exist. I'm a tough grader! read more

This construction company entered my apartment a day earlier than scheduled, and did not notify me before hand to request permission. Because it is tax season I had not yet put away my private documents, and came home to these out and the blinds to my windows pulled open. When confronted about the illegal entry into my apartment I was told that it would be too inconvenient to have called and that it should be considered a good thing that they were ahead of schedule. This statement completely disregards the fact that there were 3 other floors with common hallways that they could have worked on instead of breaking into my apartment. read more

I was really surprised to see so many negative reviews for this company. They recently redid the roof of my cooperative, something that our building was in dire need of getting done. The process of getting funding for our building's construction was a trial in itself and when we finally were ready to have the roof fixed, Seattle City Light decided that one of the power line poles, next to our building, was too close for their regulations, to allow the construction to complete. City Light would not turn the power off to that line for the 6 hours needed to finish our roof construction. Even though Seattle City Light were the ones who originally placed that power line pole in that location, they informed us that their past placement of said power pole, was grandfathered in and now we were financially responsible for the upgrades that must take place before they would turn off the power for the 6 hours, to complete construction. This kept us waiting with an unfinished roof for almost 3 very rainy months, while we consulted attorneys and anyone who could help us with this governmental shakedown. Enough complaining about Seattle City Light (gangsters!). While this happened McLeod patiently waited for our legal business to finish and didn't leave us behind to work on other projects. And they visited us many times when the unfinished roof began to leak in places and caused more damage. (unfinished because of the construction block by the city). When we finally were able to continue with the final stages of construction, McLeod kindly offered to repair the inside of any top floor units that had water damage from the faulty roof, for free. These guys were great. I highly recommend them. read more

My experience with McLeod was horrible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They send out people who are very sloppy, for example, leaving my doors unlocked, leaving footprints on the carpet, etc. The project managers (mine was Stephany) are no help. I was told at first that it would take 2 weeks for my place to be completed. The time frame has been pushed back week after week, and is now finally at a little over 2 months. The people at McLeod are poor with time management, and also cannot seem to communicate with the clients they serve. Honestly, I am not sure how a business is able to operate with such terrible and mismanaged employees. read more

They took down my dry wall, countertop, cabinets, floor and carpet for over a week and I have requested a repair quote for one week but still couldn't get it, not mention to doing the repair job. no customer service at all. don't understand why my HOA hire this company as a regular contractor for our community. McLeod Construction recently repaired rain damage to my home that occurred over a long period of time from a roof leak that finally damaged my kitchen ceiling. They responded quickly once the problem was identified. All of the people at McLeod were outstanding to work with in completing the repairs starting with Stephany, the project manager. Communication during the project was very good. Andrew did a great job completing the initial evaluation. The roofing crew quickly and professionally replaced the damaged roof sheathing, roofing and flashing. Craig and Gil did the ceiling demolition and repairs. The steps they took to install dust barriers and protect my granite kitchen counters were extraordinary. The ceiling texture in the repaired area matches the original exactly. The repairs are perfect. As a retired Architect and project manager myself, I have very high expectations but never had to express them. McLeod truly exceeded them from start to finish. read more

As a Association Manager, I have work with McLeod Construction for a number years and found their work to be professional and competitively priced. Jordan Crumb has done a lot of my project work, including one of my older buildings were the walls were textured plaster. Their drywall team is amazing. They were able to match exactly the texture of the older plaster ceiling so well that you could not see where the water damage started or ended. Excellent work!! read more

My condo management hired this company to fix a bunch of problems that arose after a shower pipe broke within the wall. It was a mistake to hire this company...At first we were told it would take 2-3 weeks for everything to dry out. Our unit had the least damage out of the others. A week later it was pushed to 4-5 weeks because there was more water damage than expected. We were never contacted by the company or the "project manager," Stephany. They keys to our unit were "lost or thrown away" multiple times. They wouldn't lock the doors when they would be done working, leaving them unlocked throughout the night. Communication was horrible with the managers and company. When we finally got in contact with Stephany, she was very apologetic and we thought everything would turn around. We asked when it was projected to be finished, and it was pushed out another 3 weeks. By this time we had already been out of the condo for a month with hardly any work done to it. The plumbing got pushed back a week, because they couldn't access the condo above ours. Once again, no one from the company communicated that with us. We found that out a couple days into the week it was pushed back. We would go during the day sometimes and only find ONE worker there in the middle of the afternoon... The resident behind us informed us that he had sold his unit because he had experienced even worse problems with the company. He also told us that they had to set up rat traps in his apartment because they had left the doors open so much and rats or mice had got in... The walls between our two condos were open during most of the construction so the mice could be in all the condos in the unit... still with no communication from Stephany or the company. Our neighbor also informed us that they had left his screen doors and windows open and came back a couple times to find doors wide open with no one around... they had also changed his locks without letting him know... Overall, this company has shown ZERO professional skill at all. They lack a huge amount of communication and time management skills. The only positive was that the initial workers who came to dry the water were nice... The project managers hardly do anything to help you and don't seem to care at all about deadlines or the displacement of their clients homes they are "working on." I would avoid this company at all costs. read more
