My wife talked to a woman (Julie) at Pine Hill Nursery about some plantings at our Elk Rapids…read moreMichigan cottage, way back in April. She called back later, had some overall planting recommendations, said she didn't actually do landscaping design. Guy named Ben came out to the cottage in June, said he would get back to us with recommendations, sketches, costs etc. Never heard back from him. My wife texted him back... Nothing from Ben. We went back to Pine Hill in July, talked to another guy, Ralph? I asked who we should really talk to if we were to have any chance of Pine Hill actually following up. He said he was the owner, of course he would follow up. In fact his brother (Paul?) would follow up with a phone call. Crickets. It has been weeks. Pine Hill has always come highly recommended in the area. And yes, folks up here are on "lake time" so things do tend to take awhile. But the runaround and total lack of movement from these guys has been amazing to behold. They don't call back/text/ any kind of follow-up communications that they say they will do. Their facilities are nice, we've bought plants there a number of times, even had lunch at their lunch counter a few times. But I'm sorry, if you need someone to actually do some work? Go elsewhere.

Having recently moved into the area, we were looking to purchase a Christmas tree from a local…read morefarmer. We are so happy to have found Messiah's Tree Farm. Tim was amazing! He listened to what we were looking for (10'-ish) and showed us a tree that hadn't even made it to their store lot yet. He trimmed the bottom for us and loaded it into our truck. Talk about full service! We've had Fraser Firs before, but this tree is absolutely gorgeous! We're excited to support local farmers, and we love how convenient this place is to our home. We will be repeat customers for years to come.

Buyers beware, this farm has unethical business practices! We purchased a Christmas tree from them…read morerecently and they charged us an extra $100 for this little bit of extra growth. Their prices are $10 per foot but what they didn't tell us was that anything larger than 10 ft is $20 a foot. That's not $20 once you reach 10 ft but $20 a foot for the entire tree. How does that make sense? When we selected our tree from the orchard, no one was there to help guide us on the size of the tree nor was the tree marked at all. We were told we had to tag it then return to the office and someone would cut it and bring it back. Once they did, they measured it and said it was 10 feet and that we needed to pay $20 per foot. And this is the stick that took it to 10 feet that we cut off to fit our topper. If it was 9 1/2 ft we would've paid $95 but because of this we had to pay 200. When we questioned them, they weren't willing to offer any compensation and just said, well it's a nice tree. Merry Christmas. We could have walked away and not purchased it but we felt bad now that it was cut and thought it was the right thing to do by taking it. I tried to message the company on Facebook and they blocked me. Please don't support a company that puts greed before good customer service.
