My Secret Stash is definitely worth checking out for fun gifts in Traverse City!…read more Slightly off the Front Street drag (though you can literally see it from Front Street, a stone's throw down Cass), My Secret Stash has all the Michigan-themed tourist goodies you could want! I availed myself of an assortment of magnets and pins. There's a focus on MI artists which is always encouraging and adds a special local touch as well. While I could keep this place "my little secret," I want to get the word out about My Secret Stash so you can enjoy it too! Check it out when you are downtown.

Absolutely adore The Red Dresser!…read more A legit gem in Traverse City. I always stop in, I cannot help myself. They have a myriad of stalls run by independent local designers full of wonderful, homey, handmade decor, clothing, knick knacks, refinished furniture and antiques. I have to literally restrain myself from going hog wild and buying everything in the entire store. On my most recent trip I scored a gorgeous kids table and 4 chairs -- repainted and the table top done as a chalkboard + 4 little chairs decoupaged with maps of Michigan. For $128. A great deal given the work that went into it. Our little citizens at the cabin LOVE it! I could spend hours poking around in here, it's well laid out, organized, the people are friendly and it's just got a great vibe. It's tucked into a strip of South Airport not deserving of The Red Dresser's charm and genuine qualities -- but make it a destination, you'll not be disappointed!

Side Note: Ever since I purchased this rug for my kitchen I've had the most difficult time finding dish towels to coordinate. I found some at CB a while back, but they were $9 each. A bit steep in my opinion, but I bought'em. Ok, enough about the place I'm not reviewing. This spot has tons of rugs, some home decor items and lots of linens. The prices on most of the items I looked at were very reasonable. A friendly and helpful staff make the shopping even better. And two beautiful linens for the price of one - I'm a fan.

They also have a pretty nice variety of foodstuffs like snacks, jams, candy, etc and other packaged edible goods. Some of the makers are local to Michigan, but they also carry things from out of state. The style of the kitchen and home decor they carry typically trends towards the more colorful and whimsical (which is 100% my vibe) though they do carry some more neutral options for the more minimalist shoppers out there. Whenever I visit I usually pick up one or two items (like a cute dish towel or one of their small prep bowls) for the home and a couple of their packaged pantry goods like a fancy mustard or jam. I noted that the staff did not engage me when I first entered the store, but when I began trying on clothes or actively looking through quilts etc. they would come up to me and be very helpful and accommodating. I wish that helpfulness had come out when I entered the store, not when I was actively considering a purchase.
