Patriot Pawsabilities - the brothers were adopted :)

I love coming here with my friends. The owner, Ms. Mo, who is also a veteran, is the sweetest…read moreperson. She cries every time a cat gets adopted because she becomes so attached, which honestly makes the place even more special. I am also really impressed by how clean the cafe is. I have been to several other cat cafes, and they usually smell at least a little, but this one does not at all. There are plenty of toys to play with the cats, a kitten room, and a quiet room, which I really appreciate. It gives cats with certain personalities a chance to relax away from others when things feel overwhelming. The George Mason volunteers are incredibly thoughtful and kind to the cats, and they even learn every cat's name, even if they are only volunteering for a short time. Most of the cats were rescued from Kuwait and had been placed on kill lists simply for being labeled "ugly" or for having disabilities. I really love that no cat is overlooked here and that everyone is welcome. Even the bathroom has adorable sticky notes reminding you that you are beautiful. Patriot Pawsabilities is definitely my favorite cat cafe, and it is very affordable too. I highly recommend stopping by. They even post monthly activities on Facebook, like yoga or movie nights, which makes it even more fun to visit.

Workers are very nice, there were lots of cats to interact with, the space is big, and there's a separate room for kittens. Would recommend for anyone who likes cats and/or is thinking of adopting--most of the cats are adoptable!

My experience with Lara and Shera was unfortunately not a good one…read more Lara, our assigned trainer, presented me with a prong collar at the initial assessment for our 35lb basset hound and told me that this was an "essential training tool" that is "very common". We found out later that this was not true - in fact, most people were horrified that we had allowed our dog to be trained this way. I'll front this by saying my husband and I did not do a whole lot of research on different training methods beforehand and are first-time dog owners, but looking back, we really wish we had pushed back on this. The combination of the collar and Lara's request to withhold all dry food except in training turned our formerly sweet and scared dog into an aggressive food guarder who was still scared to go on walks, but now growled and snapped at our cats. After 4 sessions, we consulted a behaviorist and told Lara and Shera we would be switching to another trainer on their recommendation. We received very defensive emails from both of them about the impropriety of seeing a behaviorist without their knowledge(!), but Shera agreed to refund our remaining sessions. When we still hadn't received a check five weeks later, I sent a follow-up and got back a reply complaining about my "combative" attitude (though she did then promptly issue a refund through PayPal.). Grateful to finally be done with them.

Shera at Pawfect Pups is the best!…read more We started training sessions for our dog Maggie when she was just 3 months old. I thought it was too early, but my husband convinced me that the earlier the better and he was right! We did a lot of research on yelp and other sources. The reviews we read about Pawfect Pups made us feel like there was something different about Pawfect Pups. Shera did such a great job addressing our problem areas at each session and worked with all of us to teach Maggie commands. Before we started, Maggie was a pretty stubborn little puppy and she was biting on pant legs, socks, blankets, and even my hair, snatching up any food that was dropped on the floor. Shera helped us work with Maggie to fix those habits and even taught us a variety of commands. Each session was focused on Maggie's concerns. I never felt like she was following a curriculum. Everything was very customized for our pup. We also really liked that we were an active part of each training session. People always compliment us on how well behaved Maggie is. My husband and I tell each other over and over again that finding Pawfect Pups was the best thing. Thanks Shera!

Our only regret regarding Doggies Mobile Day Spa is not taking the time to write them a glowing…read morereview sooner. A few years ago, we were having a hard time finding a groomer due to the size of our Bernadoodle (at ~110 lbs...it's a lot of fluff to manage!). Doggies Mobile Day Spa leapt at the opportunity and spent (I kid you not) ~4 hours in front of our home grooming, trimming, nail-clipping, tooth-brushing, and pampering our oversized pup (with Rosemarie & Marie working in tandem)! Since their visit, a number of our neighbors have started using Doggies Mobile Day Spa as well (dogs of all shapes, breeds, & sizes...from 5 pound yorkies to our oversized poodle mix and beyond)...all with rave reviews. What we still find even more impressive than the haircut/grooming itself is that (from his first visit to this very day) our fluffy dude comes home even happier than he left. We rarely see him more excited than when the Doggies Mobile Day Spa van pulls up and he sees his old friends open the door for some primping & polishing. Our pup's favorite groomer has a large Cane Corso at home and a real affection for dogs of all sizes, so we always feel especially comfortable that--despite our guy's size--he's in good, capable, & caring hands. Thank you to the Doggies Mobile Day Spa Team for taking care of us & our little big dude! I've never justified spending so much on dog grooming but I had family coming in for a wedding so I…read moredecided to splurge. It was easily the worst grooming they've ever had. I spent $400 for two dogs: * I came away convinced that neither dogs' faces were washed. * My big girl gets into the cat box. He brought her back and literally a hunk of kitty litter was still hanging from her bottom lip. * Both dogs had a minimum of a half inch of (dirty) hair curling into their mouths on top. It hadn't been trimmed at all. I sent the big girl back in for him to wash the litter off and trim. She still had a lot of hair in her mouth when he returned her. It didn't look like he addressed it. * Both dogs ears were all jaggedy. I trimmed the big dog, then tried to comb through her ears and the comb wouldn't go through due to debris still in her ears. They simply had not been washed. * Tear stains are hard to make go away, but the little dogs face wasn't even a smidgeon cleaner than when he went in. Afterwards, I complained to the mgmt. They argued with me! They refunded my tip and that is all. They should have refunded the entire amount. I told them I had pictures; they expressed no interest and then she said they spent extra time because I had cut some mats out ahead of time. Excuse me, that gives you time not costs you time AND they spent well under 3 hours for two dogs. What? The top it off, they were highly recommended by my neighbor. I even went with Roberto as they suggested. He was very unfriendly. I could NOT get him to smile no matter what and he didn't speak English so when he STILL didn't get things right, I couldn't even get him to understand.
