The receptionists are warm, well-organized, and accommodating, and everything that is required is taken care of with ease from the time you step into the office. It is clean, soothing, and carefully designed, right from the reception area to the adjustment tables. Every single visit begins with listening and an explanation so that you know at all times what is being done. There is never a sense of rushed time; everything is tailored just for your needs. My treatments have been precise, effective, and geared towards long-term results rather than quick fixes. I feel the difference after each appointment, whether it is reduced migraines or 6-8 hours or sleep. This is because Dr. Jesse has the knowledge, and concern for his patients to make a difference. I came into AFW with chronic migraines that I have had for 30+ years and chronic insomnia, Dr. Jesse not only adjusted me but also took his time to explain the reasons why I had these symptoms. At the end of my first adjustment, I slept for 6 hours straight and this a huge milestone because for the past 6 years I was averaging 2 hours of sleep. Extremely disappointed and my trust was betrayed. Upon further investigation I discovered that Active Family Wellness was not in fact Active Care which was also in Fairfax. I provided my attorney information to the office and was under the impression that they were already in contact but the later find there was no affiliation. My trust was completely lost. I've been going to the correct practice which has a similar name and I've felt 1000% better with only 4 visits after being in terrible pain and trouble walking. last visit to Active Family Wellness I expressed that I was in pain and I mentioned to the office manager that I was in too much pain and I wanted to skip the tense pressure before the adjustment and I was told "You have to do it". which was so painful it brought me to tears and I didn't feel any better. Additional I was made to sign paperwork agreeing to pay a detailed breakdown of the when I have health insurance which I was completely caught of guard by. How can I know what the projected cost be for medical treatment? What ICD coding would be used for long term treatment? This place is incredible! The caring staff, doctors, and amazing services provided are phenomenal. I was very impressed by the thorough pre-assessment, specific goals for my health, and the consistent follow up. The biggest thing is, they truly treat you like family... Greeting you by name, knowing who you are and what's going on in your life, and always keeping a positive atmosphere. There's definitely something to be said for having genuine connection with the people who work there. One time when I was there, my son had gotten adjusted the day before and the doctors knew that he had a basketball game the next day. I was looking for a chiropractor in my area and came across Active Family Wellness. Overall, everyone I interacted with was professional and courteous. However, I was surprised by their billing approach. In all my years of visiting chiropractors, I have never encountered a clinic that seemed more focused on profitability than patient accessibility. Traditionally, chiropractic offices bill insurance directly for each visit, but this office informed me that doing so would not be beneficial for them. Instead, they strongly encouraged a recurring payment plan for treatment. This made little sense to me, as I only have a copay with my insurance and expect to use the benefits I already pay for. If patients aren't allowed to utilize their insurance, it raises the question--what's the point of having it? Unfortunately, this clinic was not the right fit for me. For others considering this office, be aware that your insurance may not go very far here. read more

They will request you to sign a plan before receiving any treatment. You will not have a chance to try if you like their service either. Just be cautious if you make decisions based on online reviews only. This place is not in Athena network, and they actually charge a hefty amount for their sales pitch on your first visit. I honestly waited months to leave this review because my time at AFW left me feeling so tricked and uncomfortable. I went here for about a month I think. I also had a normal chiropractor I went to in Colorado for years and was seeking similar care and relief here. I finally decided to write a review because what I experienced here was unethical and not okay and I hope I can help others avoid this mistake. I agree with and felt relief/validation from all the other one star reviews. The people working here must have read a couple of influence or sales books and are trained to just honestly manipulate and wear you down in your first two appointments, rush through the payment discussion and even misrepresent it out loud, and then provide very rushed and impersonal care afterwards. They make you come in multiple days to sit through hours of lecture and tests I've never seen any chiropractor or doctor use (making you feel invested). The doctor led me to believe that I'd pay $750 for multiple months. I asked if that was the total cost for all of the months. She said yes. And grabbed my hand and said, "what has been weighing you down, Zosia?" After making me describe every stressor in my life (as someone who's been in therapy for years I can say they're not licensed to have/handle these triggering conversations). And then promising that their chiro care was the answer to all my problems. What medical professional makes these kinds of claims? Then she asked if I could commit to this and finally find healing. Tacky sales 101. And bordering on dangerous if they get a patient with serious mental health issues. Embarrassed to say I caved and signed up even though this felt very wrong in my gut. Once you start coming in, you're with the doctor for a 1 minute adjustment. Truly the least helpful adjustments I've ever had. Hours are four days a week and completely inflexible. They hound you about coming in 3x per week even though it's virtually impossible if you have a job or any other obligation or fitness routine (curious that all the one star reviews got this same recommendation). I obviously had to cancel multiple appointments because it was just not feasible. And finally, I told them I'd stop going altogether because I was moving. They pushed me to keep driving 40 minutes each way on multiple weekdays to come there (again showing they don't actually care about my time or stressors, just their money). I refused. After leaving, I realized they charged me multiple $700+ charges. I called and first of all said I was told this was the price for my multi-month contract. They said it wasn't. It was the price for one month of the recommended number of appointments. I said I hadn't made it to nearly that many appointments and had only gone for one month. They did refund me one payment after a lot of back and forth and some bible verse quoting. And acted like they did me a favor by giving me back money they wrongfully charged me. I shared on this call that they should be sure to not exhaust and pressure people to sign and need to clearly state that the charge is monthly. And allow people time to read contracts before pressuring them to sign with emotional manipulation tactics. These people are outwardly nice and happy and I do think they believe they're doing a good thing. As the owner's comments demonstrate. That doesn't make it true, it just makes it gaslighting for patients. Stop saying you'll take this into account and then continue putting undue pressure on people who are desperate for medical help. Do not promise to be the one stop shop for healing. You simply are not. Do not pressure people to unload their emotional baggage and use that to get them to sign a confusing and unfair contract. My entire care at Active Family Wellness has been phenomonal. I came in looking for a chiropractor after my car accident in October 2020. I was rear ended after driving home from work. My first day was nothing short of the upmost professional care. Upon arrival the front desk greeted me and walked me through the whole visit step by step. All 3 doctors are VERY knowledgable in all things health From chiropractic adjsutmnets, to nutrition and specific exercises for my care. When I came into the office I just wanted to get rid of the pain from the trauma of a car accident. I never expected to get out of pain, have better quality of life (like sleep and digestion) and have such an active role in my own health journey to reach my goals!! My favorite part about Active Family Wellness is the attention to detail. I came to AFW in complete desperation, shortly before the pandemic began. Although I've always been skeptical of chiropractic -- and frankly still am -- in late 2019 I was having some chronic musculoskeletal pain that was greatly affecting my quality of life. It was so bad that I couldn't even sit without pain. I don't remember the details right now as to why I wasn't able to get help from more traditional medical routes, but I just remember doing some research into finding a chiropractor who could see me right away. Even though Fairfax, VA is a long ways' drive from my home in DC, I was impressed by the then quality of reviews for this office and was desperate to try anything that might help. I remember coming to some kind of expensive group consultation session where you have to watch a video that explains more about chiropractic and what it does. At the end, you basically have to decide if you're going to sign on for the treatments, which are sold as a package set that you purchase in advance. It was all very expensive, and I wasn't sure that I could even get back and forth to Fairfax the required number of times given my demanding work schedule. But I ended up buying a package out of sheer desperation. My body was rebelling on me, and I needed help! I did attend a few sessions. The things I remember from them are -- first, I was struck to learn that the owner of the practice is a fellow Christian like me. There's a video that plays in the waiting room while you are sitting there after check-in. And I appreciated learning more about the owner and how his faith impacts his work. That kind of boldness was very much unexpected and appreciated. As for the service itself, I remember getting some kind of test done that showed all the problems (misalignments, etc.) in the body that would be worked on over time. And I had a few adjustment sessions -- perhaps two or three total, I don't recall -- with one of the chiropractors on staff (not the owner, but an uncharacteristically tall Asian man). Even though I so badly wanted the help, I still never could get over my fear of chiropractic generally. I was always uncomfortable with the jerking, snapping, etc. that it involves. And the only time I could ever really relax was after that was all over and we'd go to the room where you lie on the cot for some mechanical massage or what have you. At the end of the day, my anxiety got the best of me. And I decided to quit going and seek out more traditional interventions, as well as massage. So bottom line, I attended a handful of adjustment sessions and got some minor relief. But I ultimately am still not a fan of chiropractic and won't be returning to it. read more

Totally understand the "cult vibe" reviews after going to this place. They spend more time trying to educate patients on why their practice is so important and why you need them versus treating you. They will also try to sell their packages to you. If you don't become a member and subscribe to the number of treatments they recommend, then they won't treat you. I felt like I was in one of those sneaky timeshare seminars the whole time. They are good doctors but better salespeople. When I go to a dentist, primary doctor or any other medical professional, they for sure are not giving me a whole course on why I need to be there... Gastrointestinal issues, adrenal fatigue, terrible social anxiety, etc. I needed hope while having a difficult time trusting the methods I saw were available. However, any bump in the road I've had with this establishment in the 2 years I've been here has been handled with the utmost professionalism and care. And quality of care with Dr. Lee is consistent no matter the day. So after two years, where am I at in my healing process? In addition to taking some supplements, my gastrointestinal issues have improved immensely. I was able to significantly reduce my dependence on caffeine. I recover faster from athletic mistakes because of the rhythmic adjustments. I listened and applied Dr. Lee's occasional advice which has helped to improve my sleep and regain perspective.
