My mom's spine caused her shoulders to be uneven/ crooked for as long as I can remember. She also had a hard time looking straight on. It wasn't painful, but it was a source of deep insecurity. We don't know when or how it happened, but the crooked-ness was very apparent. I took her to see Dr. Go about a year ago, and she's been getting treated ever since. Prior to the initial assessment, the front desk was very helpful in tracking down my mom's complicated and nuanced insurance provided by her union. They even wrote it down for us for future reference. On first visit, Dr. Go methodically examined my mom through X-rays, listened to all of our concerns, explained the treatment plan carefully (English is my mom's 3rd language), and made both my mom and myself feel comfortable throughout the whole process. He also explained that my mom's shoulders were likely the result of an injury (possibly decades ago). Now, about a year later, my mom's spine and neck placement has dramatically improved. Her shoulders are much closer to level and she's able to look head on. She's expressed that she has greater mobility. She's been getting so many compliments from coworkers and friends (which she happily shares with me). My mom looks forward to getting adjusted by Dr. Go each week. Ok. It all started when I was 10 years old. You know you learn how to ride a bike and then after time after the bike breaks you learn how to fix it and after again after that time you get too confident on how to fix it. Which in my case was I thought I could reinstall the bike chain back on while still riding my bike. Welllll I was wrong. I thought I destroyed all feeling in my right hand. 30 + years and it's been a great party trick. So the past 2 years I all of a sudden starting do deal with a LEFT shoulder problem. I have been with 3 different chiropractors. Now this was a pain that would almost make me drop my new born "At the time", like a nerve shooting pain. Again left shoulder. I thought I would have to live with this my entire life and chalk it up, rub some dirt on it, and deal with it. Then my wife said give this guy a shot, he's helped me. So I did! Not only was I able to FULL function of my left shoulder, without paint and or chronic treatments. Without knowing fixing my left shoulder it took away my party trick, of my right hand. I've been going to Dr. Go for almost a year now. The front office staff and Dr. Go are friendly and always welcoming. He's patient with all of my questions and takes the time to make sure he's addressing any of my concerns. Their scheduling is efficient and the most I've had to wait was 5 minutes, but most times I'm the only patient in the office. Location is incredibly convenient (next to University Mall). Since I found out I was pregnant this year, Dr. Go has helped ease my transition throughout the entire 9 months. I plan to continue my treatment after the baby's born and beyond. read more

Dr. Go discovered a serious back issue that the back surgeon and 3 other are chiropractors missed. I am feeling better under his care, though the lack of diagnosis has caused irreparable harm. Dr. James stands out from the typical chiropractor you might visit, your initial visit he will take the time to ask about your concerns, problems and pain areas. He will then take an X-Ray of your neck & spine explain the misalignment and show you what a healthy spine/neck should look like. Dr. James will then create a plan to get you corrected. Above all this, Dr.James works with you. I am often unable to make regular scheduled appointment, but Dr. James still works with me and allows me to come in short notice early Saturday mornings. Dr. James Go is a good chiropractic doctor and he is in fact very knowledgeable. However what I did not like about his service and his front desk staff was that they were dishonest. I clearly asked him and his front desk staff about pricing with our insurance because I wanted to make sure we could afford it. We were told one thing and our bill in the mail was not what close to what we discussed. Exactly the reason why I wanted to know what we were looking at before we accepted his services.I have insurance never have I ever had to pay $250 for an adjustment and consult. I've been to several places where they've included X-rays as well and l've never had to pay out of pocket that large amount . If I was aware of it I would have continued with another practice. I also had called the office to speak with the Dr. twice and I was told he would get back to me. Till this day I'm still waiting. I paid the bill but I won't step foot in that office again. So what brought me in to see Dr. James Go at Movement Chiropractic is the result of years of not taking ergonomics seriously, hubris, and a sprinkling of karma. I have a desk job which means I spend upwards of 8 hours in front of a computer generating, sending, and receiving the equivalent of TSP reports (nod to "Office Space"). While I have a general grasp of the intent of ergonomics, I never took it very seriously because (and here's where the hubris comes into play) I figured "I'm young" and "what difference could it actually make". I can remember being in my early teens and laughing when my mom would occasionally do what seemed to be the most random and slightest movement and wind up with a "crick" in her neck that would last a day or so. Well, now that I'm about the age my mother was when I was snickering at her misfortune, I woke up with a stiff neck one day that wound up lasting over a week. Rather than misdiagnosing myself with malaria or meningitis based on an online symptom checker, I figured I'd better start trying to find a doctor. What I like most about Dr. Go's approach to his practice is that he takes the time to educate his patients on what chiropractic medicine is and its goals which helps not only debunk various stereotypes that surround this area, but also lends itself to other aspects of all around health. His very personable demeanor (he's on a first name basis with his patients) and the fact that he seems to have his iHeartRadio tuned to the Jason Mraz or John Mayer station, makes the overall experience inviting and very pleasant as opposed to simply clinical. My experience with Dr. James Go at Movement Chiropratic has been "Woohoo! As good as it gets!", Five Stars. I initially came in for sharp lower back pain: I was carrying a semi-heavy object up the stairs and pulled/tweaked my lower back. It wasn't so much the weight, but the awkward shape that got me. I felt sharp pain, and was almost immobilized. I was very familiar with this pain as I had this before in my youth and was able to recover after a couple days...... I'm 32 now, and instead, time only made it worse. Being a working professional, and having health insurance, I thought this would be the right time to see a doctor. James did an examination, told me it should be an easy fix, and sure enough, 3 weeks of treatments and I was pain free. While I was there, I figured I should go ahead and get my neck checked out as well: This was a nagging injury from a snowboarding accident 4 years ago. My main issue was when I lied down to sleep, I would experience dizzyness, vertigo, and light-headedness... every night. Also, when I was stressed, I would feel extreme tension in the back of my neck - I literally could feel the muscles on both sides of my spinal cord stiffen like little bulging stones . During my examination, I filled out paper work, took an x-ray, and James walked me through his assessment. He let me know what my condition was (reversal of the curve in my neck), where it needed to be, and a plan to get me there. After seeing Dr. James for about 2 months, the vertigo and dizziness has literally disappeared. It was so gradual, I didn't realize it was gone, until my wife asked me about it. Really though, I found the Doc from google searching to Zocdoc, and then reading up his blog posts. Barely could walk in with the intense pain in my lower back, throbbing pain even after taking ibuprofen, and having muscle spasms very frequently. After some adjustments, I was able to walk out normally, and feeling so much more flexible. Dr. Go and his front desk staff are amazing. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by someone with a kind, compassionate attitude. Dr. Go's office is easy to get to (by George Mason) and when you enter it's clean, organized and very relaxing. What is uniqe about Dr. Go and his staff is that they all are kind towards not only the patient, but also the family member. :) I had to bring my newborn son (Timothy) in as his pediatrician was getting very concerned about his torticollis. He only wanted to look one way. Regardless of how much we did neck stretches with him it didn't get better. If anything it was getting worse as he was getting older (this was then at 2 weeks old). I ended up stumbling across Dr. Go via online and I am so glad I did. Not to many folks do chiropractic care on pediatrics. I quickly booked an appointment for Timothy and got in right away. The first treatment Dr. Go did on Timothy was amazing. He (Timothy) was so much calmer. He wasn't restless and he slept for hours after his treatment. He was so relaxed. Dr Go is an amazing practitioner. I can not thank him enough for working with me this past year after my accident. I had gone to a Chiropractor before in Manassas and after one treatment, I did not go back. He didn't care about the questions or concerns I had, and without even telling me he was going to do something, he just did it. My pain at the time was an 8/10 daily. My symptoms were dizziness, headaches, shooting pain down my left arm, and numbness in the left hand (on and off). My family doctor kept encouraging me to work with a Chiropractor, so after more researching, and asking around, I made an appointment with Dr. Go. 1. He was able to answer all my questions. 2. I did not feel rushed during the consultation. He was patient, calm, and knowledgeable. 3. I practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which knocks my vertebrae out of alignment more often than most people experience. This kind of procedure requires great trust, and I have found that Dr. James Go is the Chiropractor that I hoped to find. He has brought a refreshing level of care and precision in all my visits (roughly 8-10, for the many instances I have knocked a vertebrae or rib out of place). He is a very good communicator and soundly applies just the proper amount of pressure for the readjustments, even spotting the minor ones (for which you can hear a fainter pop during the adjustment). He covers the full spectrum of his care, for your spine, bone, and muscle, complete with guidance for facilitating the process of recovery. He is also a really nice person with a high level of integrity and no business gimmicks, just honestly returns your back into alignment and relaxes/stretches your muscles in a most direct, practical, and efficient manner. I went to Dr. Go to see about improving my posture, which is relatively minor compared to some of the things chiropractors help patients with. Even so, Dr. Go took the matter very seriously and took some X-rays to be sure of what he suspected before starting anything. He then took the time to show me exactly what the X-rays showed, what they meant for my spine, and then suggested a few therapy plans that would fit my schedule. In explaining all of this, he was extremely patient with all of my questions and even explained technical questions to me in a way that I could understand. Not once during our discussion did I feel rushed Another difficulty I had was that I only had a limited amount of time in the area, and usually chiropractors would simply suggest that I find a chiropractor in the area I was moving to, but Dr. Go still took care of my therapy and was incredibly flexible in meeting me when I could before I left. He also gave me plenty of exercises that I could do at home after I moved away. Well unfortunately for many, it is a common misconception that is usually coupled with some horrific anecdote.
