Quck version: Penny pinching clowns made promises for warranty coverage and then said it was my fault for not knowing that 42% of the length of my warranty was already used up even though I am the first owner.
Full Length Review:
I am an out of state buyer and I leased a 600lt which was previously a demo vehicle. I particularly asked them to make sure I will still have the standard 3yr, 30k mile warranty when purchasing this vehicle and I was specifically told yes it will by the salesman.
I overlooked several issues during this transaction:
- I signed off on an inaccurate odometer reading, which made me very uncomfortable. The car had an extra couple hundred miles on it but they acted like I shouldn't make a big deal of it and told me I would have to go through the application process again, so I signed off.
- Received the vehicle with a couple rock chips on the windshield that they should have repaired.
- The car cover and car charger was missing and was only sent after I asked about them.
- The drivers seat adjustment was inoperable. I find it very hard to believe that not a single person at the dealership realized the seat wasn't working, especially after it was driven to and from a protective film installer, and to and from their service dept before it was shipped out.
I overlooked all of the aforementioned issues because shit happens and I was excited to have the car.
I then took the vehicle to my local dealer to have the seat looked at and once they pulled up the vehicle's info, they told me the warranty is set to expire in under 2 years. This infuriated me and when I reached out to them, they said there is nothing they can do, but they'll give me $5k off my next car, what a joke.
Demo cars are beat to shit by countless people, which is why I specifically asked them if I will be getting the full warranty. I had explained to the salesman that I am leasing a new Mclaren so I don't have to worry about any warranty claims as I want my first sports car experience to be a worry-free one. They then stated that I should have known this, me, a first time Mclaren buyer and a first time customer at their dealership. They also tried to say it's "not a new car" however, the car was never sold and I am the first owner, I confirmed this after I ran carfax myself out of curiosity. Had they just explained to me that the warranty will be running out well before the end of my lease, I would have just leased a different vehicle!
This kind of scumbag behavior is expected from those shady used car dealerships, not a Mclaren dealer. I will never be doing business with this stealership or their affiliates again and I pray that nothing goes wrong with my car. read more
