My husband and I were very pleased with the optical shop. We brought in prescriptions from another doctor so I can't speak to that part. Had a contact lens exam with Dr. Wang. I actually had the exam scheduled through Sightbox, a contact lens prescription service. She was very nice and professional and patiently answered all and any questions I had, which was something lacking at the previous eyecare provider I was seeing. I didn't wait long to be seen, was in and out of the office within 20 minutes. I am considering making the switch to McKinney Eyeworks as my provider! read more

Used 'cheater' glasses for years then things farther away got fuzzy. Got a great pair of glasses with progressive lenses from them. Unfortunilty a year later I totally wreckef both the lenses and frames at work. So bought another pair. While I was there they asked me if I would like to do a trial with progressive daily wear contact lenses. I thought no way, I could never touch my eyeball. But they showed me a good technic for putting them in and removing them daily. It took a week or two of trial and error but I can now put them in and take them out in seconds. They have a great. VERY friendly, and knowledgeable staff. So glad I go there, I have recommended them to all my friends. read more

1/13/2015 Wow. I can not give a review for the doctor himself because I never made it that far. The receptionist who answered the phone was extremely rude. She said they were booked up, which I find hard to believe. I have never seen any eye doctor booked up for weeks. The next avaliable date she had was a day I have another appointment. She did not offer to take my name and call if there was a cancellation or anything. Her main objective was to get off of the phone and that was very evident. I wonder how her boss would feel about losing all of that insurance money for treating someone with preglaucoma? Not to mention the glasses, sunglasses, and contacts I purchase every year? I was really hoping to visit this doctor as he is close to my home and specializes in glaucoma. I guess I am back on the hunt for a new doctor. :-( 4/23/2015 I just had a friend text me about what a horrible experience they had on the phone with this place. She said the woman asked her if she wanted morning or afternoon appointment? My friend said "morning". The woman said "ok we have 8am, 8:30, and 9:00". My friend asked if she had anything around 10am or 11am? The woman instantly got an attitude and said "I thought you said you wanted morning not afternoon?". My friend said "oh, I am sorry. All of these years I thought anything after 12pm was AFTER noon." She then proceeded to tell my friend that in their system afternoon started at 10:30. How is anyone supposed to know how their system operates? I had to go back and look at my Yelp reviews to see if this was the same place that I had reviewed in January. I know this isn't a personal, first hand account of dealing with them, but I thought it was interesting that someone I know who had no idea that I had called this business had a similar experience with an extremely rude front desk person. I hope this gets the attention of either the woman who is being rude or the doctor. The woman needs to watch her tone when dealing with patients and the doctor needs to become aware of the situation and fix it if the woman can't change her ways. Professional staff. Convenient emailing of insurance card/info. Need to make an appointment about a week before you need to see doc, they fill up fast. Friendly staff upon walking in. Doctor seems a little bored (probably from repetitive nature of what he's doing all day). Picking out frames is fun, and expensive. Insurance covers a lot of it though. And you can pay with an HSA. I havent been to an eye doc in over 5 yrs, so I cant really complain. Was told frames would be in stock same day or next day. That's pretty fast turnaround! read more

I went there today(10/31/2019) for eye check up , all went well with Dr and Eye exam but front desk guy who is rudest person i have ever seen in dr office , I asked him about frames and glasses he told me bit high cost so i choose not to buy but looks like he got mad that i didnt choose to buy so his behavior changed , I will NEVER EVER VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN .. earlier i used to go with Costco optometrist but tried this Mckinney eye works this time.. I will not be going back to this ophthalmologist. I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Wang with a rare cornea condition and I was referred to the Cornea Associates of Texas to get some tests done. After spending $200 to cover tests, I was told my corneas are COMPLETELY NORMAL and there's nothing strange about them. Additionally, I am struggling with the new prescription assessed for my glasses. As a result of insurance, I had switched to McKinney Eyeworks but I will be going back to my previous doctor to get re-checked for my glasses prescription. This experience has been a total mess with them. Furthermore, the office staff was rude and completely unconcerned about the fact that I was put through unnecessary monetary expenses in tests as a result of Dr. Wangs misdiagnosis. read more

Knowledgeable staff and quick in and out. The longest part of the process was picking out the frames. I.was.in and had an exam and they had my lens in stock so I was walking out the.door in 1 hour with new glasses. I can't recommend highly enough. read more

Recently moved to McKinney. I had a bad experience trying to get glasses at a nearby optometrist. McKinney Eyeworks was able to get new glasses made in a day. This is fabulous turn around considering I have a strong prescription, and wear high index lenses. Very professional and courteous staff and all this at an affordable price. read more

McKinney Eyeworks is awful... The front desk staff can't be bothered to verify by phone insurance coverages. I was attempting to make an appointment with this office, they refused to contact VSP via phone after I stated that VSP shows as being in-network and they said it was not in-network. My issue is that they are not accommodating, and refused to verify benefits. They must have too much business that they wont go the extra step to verify information. read more

My second time getting glasses and I was thinking the issues around getting glasses was a fluke. Turns out it was not. Second time, again they messed it up and had to reorder it. Then I try them on again and it turns out the prescription itself was wrong. I said just use my existing one and go with that. Apparently they HAVE to re-exam you. Well unfortunately I have a very busy schedule and I just could not get another time anytime soon. They said they would let me know. Then they leave a voice mail saying nope, I had to do the appointment. I go back in again to get my money back and they said... well we will re-ask the doctor. But if they re-ordered the glasses then they would not do any more exchanges. I was not liking that response as so far they have yet to do it right so I am not going to be responsible for their mistake... again. Finally after 6 months I go to get my money back and then ask to re-instate my insurance. Well they said int eh store they would by today... but when I left or as I was leaving the manager sent me an email saying she would definitely not do that. You sign this waiver that says no refunds\exchanges. So they can screw up and charge you but if you want your money back for services or a product that you did not get... too bad. I am surprised by the continued service they get as they are mostly rude and just not nice there. I "put up with it" initially thinking, oh it will get better once they know me as a customer. Nope. So many little things along the way. I mean kinda silly stuff, as in when I was there about 3 times ago getting fitted for the glasses that I would never get but pay for... I asked them to clean my existing glasses. Well a little put off byt eh request but they cam back worse than when I gave them. I mean really? So I drove home in a haze and then cleaned them myself. And these people know glasses? Withe the options you have around the area, this one should not make your list. read more

Overall my experience didn't go well but that's not to say it didn't workout in the end. Making the appointment easy, exam wonderful, service great.... 3 appointments later within a two week span of not seeing... I finally had glasses and the staff was tired of me! It was apparent and the feeling was becoming mutual. Went to purchase my sunglasses and the price doubled from the original quote. All I got in response was we can cancel your order. I felt like it was just one problem after another and the only person who benefited in the end was them because they got the original sale... Not my returned business though. Now I'm looking for another place to get my 2nd pair of frames and sunglasses. Open for suggestions. read more

I have been going to McKinney eye works for 1 year. The only reason we were forced to go here is due to a change in insurance. I brought my son because he needed a new eye exam, and the staff was very condescending and rude. The optometrists are good at what they do and mostly polite. When we go to get contact lenses, the staff is still impatient and rude... They have given us the wrong contacts 3 times! I've used McKinney Eyeworks for myself in the past and have had mediocre experience. Sometimes I felt like my prescription wasn't accurate and had to go back and have it fixed. I've taken my older son there and had no problems but he has 20/20 vision. I recently took my 5 year old son who has slight farsightedness and they immediately put him in glasses. After getting a second opinion from a highly recommended opthamologist, the second doctor said his prescription was so little that the glasses were not even noticeable and just a hassle and added expense. I am super frustrated that I bought glasses and had those glasses fixed twice for a child who does not benefit from wearing them! The second doctor showed me what his prescription looked like on her machine and I could not even see a difference! I feel like they took advantage of me because my child does have slight farsightedness but not enough to justify glasses! I definitely won't be back! However, the office staff is incredibly friendly and helpful but I'm seriously frustrated that they prescribed something not useful for my son. Time to find a new optometrist! read more
