Mid 2020 we began our search for a pool builder. Our neighbor had a McKinney Custom Pool and highly recommended them. We had already met with several builders but decided to check them out. After meeting with Jeremy (owner) and providing our ideas, he custom designed a pool and spa that was perfect for our needs. The project was complete in February 2021 and for the past 5 years it has been trouble free and easy to maintain. I attribute that to their employee's craftsmanship along with the materials and equipment they used and installed. The Pool/Spa is energy efficient due to the high end computer controlled Hayward equipment that can be pre-programmed or controlled remotely with a phone app. I could go on with the many features it has such as Freeze Protection Mode, LED pool lighting themes etc. But, their customer service is what stands out. We'd like to say thanks to McKinney Custom Pools for constructing our backyard paradise! Our dogs and us have basically moved out of our house and into our backyard since the construction was completed and the pool was started up. It was certainly an eye opener/learning experience witnessing the whole construction process unfold (watching what was once our grass filled backyard get completely excavated, seeing all the infrastructure that was laid underground, etc...). I wouldn't use this company if it were free. I have been battling a patio leak since 2013. McKinney did nothing about it, even when my pool was still under warranty. He showed up to look at it, made it worse and never came back. He blamed it on a palapa I put up over the patio for shade, yet none of the palapa posts are where the problem is. Just mad I didn't buy the palapa through him. If he does not like your complaints, he will stall you out on the work. On our first meeting, I asked him to have a seat so I could show him some designs I liked on the laptop; he chose to stand the entire time. I should have shown him the door right then. His people skills are non-existent. His wife Anya was very nice, but could not make up for the horrible experience. I have spent just under $3,000.00 to attempt to fix the leaking patio (wish I could add a picture) and it's still is messed up. The patio was poured wrong, and he took no responsibility for it. The unfortunate thing about pool companies is the difficulty of suing them. DON'T JUST WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.....RUN!!! read more

Very mixed review when it comes to McKinney Pools. The front office is fine. They're professional, they walk you through their process and explain the costs, which are expensive, but everything according to them is an upgrade. No problem. The pool build was good as far as gunnite, plaster and tile. The concrete deck was poured while it was raining which did cause some cracks and small fractures. The pool equipment was initially setup ok, but after six months, I've had several leaks, that were minor, but required some repair. Setup/startup was a hassle with them as their project manager simply isn't around very often especially when you need him which is during setup and startup phase for sure! There is still warranty work concerning our SwimClear pool filter that hasn't been done. This concerned the filter cartridge container being too close to the filter pump making it difficult to remove the clamp ring. The second issue we had after the pool build was with the excess water pop-up drain set up on the side of the yard. It shouldn't drain very often, but ours became a small pond, so I had to move it to the curb. It still drains a lot to this day! They did offer to do a leak inspection for about 300 hundred dollars. Nope. This brings me to the in-person customer service part of their business which is below average. They do a fine job with the pool construction itself, but after they've collected the money, they're gone! They're in the pool building business, so just be aware. After they've completed the final construction phase, which for us was spray deck, they're off to the next build! In my opinion they don't have enough on-site staff to deal with the amount of customers during and after the pool build. So in summary, they build a good pool, somewhat below average equipment setup and very little on-site customer support. The overall price of our pool was $75,000 for comparison. 3 out 5 star overall review. read more

We had our pool constructed by Mckinney in 2022 summer. The best service they provide is timely delivery of your pool. I would say from start to finish after HOA approval it was about 8weeks. Their timing is unbeatable! Filling out the form on their website to make inquiries is not effective. I filled it out multiple times but had to call to get a quote/get a business relationship started. I am not sure if it was because of the timing of the request or that part of the system has a flaw. And I almost changed my mind about using them at that point because of that but it was important to our family to patronize a local family business and I don't think there are very many in the business. so, we had to brush that off. The equipment they use are okay. we have had a couple of service requests since building our pool for malfunctioning equipment/software and the response by the third-party companies have been good but sometimes delayed like everything else at this time, which i believe is from the worldwide supply chain problem. So far after service equipment support has been good. Overall if you want TIMELY service this is the company for you. If you want above and beyond customer service like after delivery of your pool call or calls to see how the service was after or during the process to see how everything is going you may not get it from them. I had to go back to my email today to remember the name of the company. It's like they just delivered and disappeared. This is our first pool so this maybe a practice for the industry. Most of our friends have enjoyed our back yard but I have to look through emails to share their contact with anyone. If I were to sell my house today, the new owners would never know who built the beautiful timely pool if we don't give it to them. It's just weird to me that you build something without a trace of who built it. The owners are business professional nice. We built our first pool with them early this year. Of course not knowing much they seemed very confident and so we trusted they will deliver everything they said. Nope! Not the case. They had cheap contractors who don't know a thing what they were supposed to do. We had to tell them since no one from the company was there to supervise their work. The pavers they put in was extremely very sloppy. They put drains in the wrong place so water was left puddling on the patio. Informed them about it and even to today still not fixed. The 2 fountains we had in the pool don't work but after contacting them no one came to fix those either. Equipments to clean the pool was supposed to come with the package. Didn't get them. Paid over 150k for the pool. Not worth it. Wish I went with another company. They were very unprofessional and never want to own up to their own mistakes. Got fed up dealing with them ended up forking more money to someone else who could get the job done right! read more

I am trying to get quotes from this pool company McKinney Pools and I have filled out there questionnaire on the internet so a person will call me and waited 7 days with no response so I pick up the phone and call them and left a message with no response so I call again and left another message with the fact of how many times I have called and the lady tells me she is out loading equipment. OK. Well she did call me back about 30 minutes later. Long story short would I have to go through all this to speak to a live person if I had a pool constructed by these people and I needed warranty work done. Something to think about. read more

AMAZING WORK!!!! We started our pool building with Premier in pearland and had issues from the get go so we cancelled our contract before groundbreaking and decided to go with McKinney...BEST DECISION WE MADE! The process was quick (8 weeks bc of rain) and super easy! Jeremy and Anya are super friendly and happy to help us even a year after our pool has been completed!!! We still use their pool service and always have an amazing looking pool...our neighbor's alway comment on it as theirs is not always as clear ;) all WE do is throw the vacuum in when we see dirt from the rocks in the pool. We contracted McKinney Custom Pools to install our pool. This has been a night mare ever since they started. It has been a year or better and we are still having issues. As far as customer service, there is none once the pool is done. We had problems with water in our back yard for months after the pool was installed. After the pool was filled the trench they dug to install the plumbing, stayed full of water. They did send out a leak detection company and found nothing. They pumped the water out and filled the trench with the mud that was around the trench from the rain and the water they pumped out. This mad a huge mud hole in the back yard. I continued to call McKinney and they continued to say it was not their problem. The came up with every excuse in the book. Ground water, old sprinkler system in the back yard, even though he dug up the back yard to install the pool and there no existing sprinkler piping. Then it was the neighbors sprinkler system. I dug a trench where his pipes were and the trench filled up with water before I could get to the bottom of the pipes to see if they were leaking. I bought a hand pump and pumped this trench out at least 20 times and it keep filling up. I continued to call McKinney pools and they continued to tell me it was not their problem and /or equipment. He actually told me to call my own leak detection company, which I did. He found some small cracks in the tile and thought this was the problem. We finally snapped and turned off the auto pool filler and the pool went down 6 inches overnight. I called Mc Kinney pools and he finally admitted he had a problem. Mind you this had been going on for months. McKinney called out his leak detector company again, and they found the spa drain which is about 18' was cracked 360 degrees. They had to remove all the plaster in the spa and fix the problem and re-plaster the spa. Still not the end of the problems. After re-plastering the spa, they installed the jets and installed one in backwards and broke it. I guess they were hoping we did not catch that. This was in May and it took until October 9th to fix the jet. Once the guy fixed the jet he reconfigured the setting improperly on the valves. We called McKinney and he said no problem for $175.00 they would send someone out to look at it. We called a distributor for Hayward, the equipment manufacturer, and they sent someone out for $75.00 and said the settings were wrong on the valves. Again we contacted Mc Kinney to get him to reimburse for the charges we incurred and again he let us know that was not his problem. Bottom line I would not hire McKinney again and do not and will not recommend them to anyone. Rick read more

We bought a house where the original owner had used McKinney Pools to build a very nice backyard retreat. I didn't know how to take care of a pool, so I hired McKinney's pool service to maintain it. I had a few issues with chemicals and called it in, but they never called back and in time everything worked out. After I set up security cameras around the house, I found out the pool guy would spend about 20 minutes on my pool and about 15 of those 20 minutes would be spent texting--so my pool got about 5 minutes per week of service. I eventually got fed up and called them and left a message telling them they were fired. Since they never called me back, I thought they got the message. Wrong, the guy showed up a week later to clean the pool and found the property locked. This time McKinney called me back right away. Too little, too late. They don't know how to provide customer service at all. Prior to that, I asked them about cleaning the filter and they said that it did not need it since the pressure gauge was not high enough and therefore everything was ok. My new pool guy discovered that the filter pressure gauge was broken, and did not measure anything. Hence the filter needed to be cleaned after all. A year later, the pool started to leak during winter. I was losing an inch of water per day that is a lot of water to be losing. The plumbing was inaccessible because McKinney had covered everything up in concrete (nobody in the pool industry does that, except McKinney). After 4 days of using a jack hammer to tear out the concrete around the plumbing and about four separate pool leak checks, the verdict was in. Most of the rock waterfalls were leaking due to poor workmanship and insufficient mortar between the rocks. The worst discovery was that McKinney DID NOT USE GLUE in the PVC pipes; and he then used concrete around the PVC plumbing to hide it all. I think the price of PVC glue is less than $25 for a can--compare that to about $8000.00 in repair bills, yes, $8 thousand. Another year has gone by and now I'm facing severe erosion of the rocks in the waterfalls. It seems McKinney used soft stones to build the pool's waterfalls that are prone to erosion by running water. So what else is there? Well the neighbors have told me that the original owner had water in the house on two occasions during tropical systems that hit the Pearland area. It seems McKinney did not design the pool to drain properly and when it rains a lot, the water backs up and builds up. Eventually the water build up has only one place to go-- in the house. I now clean my own pool and go to Leslie's Pool Supply for chemicals. Guess what--The manager at Leslie's Pool Supply hears complaints after complaints from customers of McKinney Pools. If you are considering a new pool, go to Leslie's Pool Supply, talk to the people who work there and find out who has the most customer complaints; chances are that it will be McKinney. Based on my experience, McKinney does not know how to design, build or maintain a pool. I'm sure he can convince you that he can do all of this, but years from now you will find every costly mistake that he made because he simply does not know how. According to my neighbors, he took a few weekend seminars on pool building and proclaimed himself a pool builder. Good luck. read more

Jeremy, Anya and every one of their staff are absolutely amazing. I received 17 different quotes, narrowed down to three finalists before finally deciding on McKinney Custom Pools. We are so glad that we chose them. Their prices are more than fair, and their pool and equipment are top notch. Unlike most other companies, they completed our backyard pool project in a couple of weeks (Though may not be their normal construction timeframe)! Every concern, question and problem was dealt with professionally, expeditiously, and thoroughly. No horribly pushy limited time sales and we weren't treated like just another client to boost someone's commission. On top of everything, they provided a month of pool cleaning, a ton of chemicals, and showed us how to use use and maintain every aspect of our new pool (Pool School).
