I worked for Dr. Chad McKernan two summers ago and I learned more than I ever had anticipated. I recently graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Health Services and a minor in Holistic Health Care. Dr. Chad was the first individual to introduce me to such care. He explained to me that super foods are healers, your body uses that good energy to fight off infection and maintain stability not only internal, but external. He is an extremely credible source who loves what he does and has opened the eyes to many nonbelievers of chiropractic.
I was a cheerleader in high school and because of all the tumbling and constant shock to my hips, they became out of alignment. Dr. Chad took an x-ray and analyzed the results while also explaining to me my problem. Since my hips were so out of place, it caused my entire spine to move out of alignment as well. In that case, those vertebrae were pinching the billions of nerves running through my body. After such traumatic pressure, my nerves started to send signals to my brain relaying pain. Whether it was a headache, carpal tunnel (discomfort in wrists), cramps, fatigue, soreness, etc. You name it, my body was trying to tell me something. The body is not supposed to feel discomfort, and when it does it does not hesitate to inform you in any way it can. Listen to your body and treat is holistically.
Conventional Medicine vs. Alternative Medicine (chiropractic) merely blocks the pain signal to your brain to let you know you are having a problem. Conventional doctors do not treat the underlying problem, they mask it. If you're hungry, you wouldn't take a chemical to stop the signal to your brain informing you of the hunger; because eventually you will die due to the lack of nutrients and food supply to maintain proper function. The common medication physicians prescribe to you is, for example, Advil for a headache, which relieves the pain but then the headache will return a few days later. Dr. Chad will not only relieve such pain, he will fix it internally by positioning that vertebrae off the pinched nerve. If you have an open wound on your body, it is not healthy to leave it to get infected, rather clean it with peroxide and bring it back to health. Same goes for healing the internal body, just because you cannot see it doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed properly, it needs the same constant attention as would an external infection. Just because it is not seen with the naked eye, does not mean it isn't as important.
I highly believe that holistic health care is the true healer, and I continue to spread my knowledge and beliefs due to such a great experience with Dr. Chad. He has pursued me to achieve my goals and to fight for what I believe in. I maintain a healthy lifestyle, consisting of eating well, staying active, and participating in many holistic approaches to life. I have not been ill in any way, shape, or form since that summer working with Dr. Chad. I am currently enrolled in graduate school to become an occupational therapist. When I receive my certification I will, without hesitation, refer my patients as well as future family and friends to Dr. Chad for further treatment. I continue to refer individuals to Dr. Chad because he such a phenomenal chiropractor, and a great person. His family is incredibly involved and they continue to support and highly "practice what they preach." read more
