Alone with the deer. Beautiful place!

This has become our favorite place to cut down our Christmas tree! The people who work there are so nice, the tree selection is really good, the view is gorgeous on a clear day, and there are picnic tables if you want to bring breakfast or lunch with you to make a day of it. I really like that they will shake and bale (wrap it tight) the tree for you for an extra $5. So worth it! They helped us tie the tree to the top of the car in the rain too - now that is customer service! We came early on a rainy Saturday morning and had the place to ourselves with the deer! Such a peaceful place and great way to start off the Christmas season! Paid $65 for the tree (Douglas fir) and the shake & bale. Check out their website for current prices though. I don't mind paying extra for a tree when the experience is like this. Totally worth it.

25th year at McKenzie Christmas Tree Farm! We have our annual "tree-cutting-hot-cider-sipping-football-game-hot-soup-drinking" party at McKenzie. George McKenzie, retired fire captain, and his son have a beautiful Christmas Tree Farm with views of Loma Prieta and Silicon Valley. The property has rolling hills full of trees, a giant pond and wandering deer. They have Douglas fir, grand fir and white fir trees. Picnic tables are scattered around the property to enjoy lunch or snacks. McKenzie provides long saws, they also have shaking/bale service for $5.00. Large firepit at exit/entrance area. Dogs welcome provided they are on a leash. Wear mud/rain/snow or hiking boots. The mountain area can be 10-15 degree cooler so dress accordingly. Cell service avail - wifi only near entrance/exit. Say hi to George!

Went here today to get a tree with the boyfriend and two dogs! It was late for tree cutting (about 4:30) when majority tree farms are closed and the one we originally planned on going to already shut its gates. We kept on driving and found that McKenzie's was still open! They nicely let us in near closing time and even another couple showed up after us. White firs are $70 and Douglas firs are $60. This was my first time ever cutting down a Christmas tree myself and they had an amazing selection! Definitely want to make a tradition out of it! The same trees pre cut on an Xmas tree lot or Home Depot are like $100 more! Well worth the effort and money :) Was open till 5pm on Sunday! Check their website for hours.

They had over 4 picnic benches for families to picnic on, a small swing nearby, and a portable toilet near the main parking lot. Other parking lots were available if the main lot was full. They give you the saw upon check-in and you drop it off along with $80 for any tree size on your way out. My son enjoyed the candy cane he was given upon exit. I would go here again with my family. Advice: we went here upon opening Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. By 10:30am, the main parking lot was full and overflowing into other lots, but other lots had plenty of space. I recommend getting here early and having a picnic with your family.

Once you enter you grab a saw and then can wonder around anywhere on the property. They have a variety of different trees and all are so lush and green. ANY tree is $80! Can't wait to decorate our tree! There is always hot apple cider and it's pet friendly property. Just please clean up after you furry friend!

Was so excited to cut my own tree down this past Christmas! I researched a bunch of different tree…read morefarms in the Santa Cruz Mountains and it seemed that they all had a similar price range within $5-$10 of each other. I opted for Summit since I knew exactly where it was and that they'd have a pretty large selection. It was a set price of $80 per tree (2025), no matter if you got a 4 ft tree or 12 ft tree. They had a ton of trees to choose from, we parked shortly after the road turned and when we were leaving we realized just how how expansive the property was and how much more there was to explore. Just in the area we were in you could find trees of all sizes, small, tall, plump, and on the thinner side (this was the hardest to find). There's a small snack shack here but you can also bring your own food and tailgate before or after the hunt. We spent about 20 minutes saying this is the tree while then finding another one a few minutes later. They provided a saw and we brought our own measuring tape to make sure it would fit in our designated space. Once you get your tree you drive back to the front to pay, we ended up putting the tree inside my car, so I'm not sure if they'll help you secure it to the roof before you go, but you are responsible for doing it yourself as you make your journey back to the front. They sold stands at the front, I believe they were $20. When I got a real tree growing up, it was always from a lot so they would secure the stand and put the tree through a shaker for you. That wasn't the case here, so we did find a lot of small spiders after getting it home, and we also had our tree fall over after decorating it because we didn't get the straightest cut on the bottom and the trunk was a little oddly shaped for the stand.
