This was our first year cutting down a Christmas Tree and I could have gone to a better place to experience it! The people at McKenzie Ranch treated us like family, directing us where we can park and how the whole process of cutting a tree works. Once we cut our own tree we brought it back down where we paid an extra $10 to have them shake it down and tie it up for us on our car. Trees cost around $60 but it is honestly a priceless experience, and it will last from thanksgiving until New Years if you water the tree consistently. One big thing is that when you come up here be sure to wear cloths u don't mind getting dirty/wet since it's usually pretty muddy around. I recommend some old jeans and hiking boots for some grip. Overall McKenzie Ranch gave me and my family not just the perfect Christmas tree but the best experience in cutting one down, be sure to swing on by for your own tree for the holiday season! read more

I have been coming to this tree farm since 2008. We cut a tree together and I have been enjoying this ever since. This is our yearly family tradition. We pack a picnic lunch, an electric saw, warm clothes, hot chocolate, and our family and friends in the truck and come to this spot. It's a place to play football or catch and spend quality time with the family. Matthew is introduced as the only McKinzie in our bunch and the McKenzie tree farm will rack up a few candy canes for our little Matthew. They have a phenomenal selection of Christmas trees. They will bale them for you for 10.00 and it's a family run business which I support. Went with Randy, Paul, Matthew, Skye and myself Today is a fun day!!!! read more

This has become our favorite place to cut down our Christmas tree! The people who work there are so nice, the tree selection is really good, the view is gorgeous on a clear day, and there are picnic tables if you want to bring breakfast or lunch with you to make a day of it. I really like that they will shake and bale (wrap it tight) the tree for you for an extra $5. So worth it! They helped us tie the tree to the top of the car in the rain too - now that is customer service! We came early on a rainy Saturday morning and had the place to ourselves with the deer! Such a peaceful place and great way to start off the Christmas season! Paid $65 for the tree (Douglas fir) and the shake & bale. Check out their website for current prices though. 25th year at McKenzie Christmas Tree Farm! We have our annual "tree-cutting-hot-cider-sipping-football-game-hot-soup-drinking" party at McKenzie. George McKenzie, retired fire captain, and his son have a beautiful Christmas Tree Farm with views of Loma Prieta and Silicon Valley. The property has rolling hills full of trees, a giant pond and wandering deer. They have Douglas fir, grand fir and white fir trees. Picnic tables are scattered around the property to enjoy lunch or snacks. McKenzie provides long saws, they also have shaking/bale service for $5.00. Large firepit at exit/entrance area. Dogs welcome provided they are on a leash. Wear mud/rain/snow or hiking boots. The mountain area can be 10-15 degree cooler so dress accordingly. Cell service avail - wifi only near entrance/exit. Went here today to get a tree with the boyfriend and two dogs! It was late for tree cutting (about 4:30) when majority tree farms are closed and the one we originally planned on going to already shut its gates. We kept on driving and found that McKenzie's was still open! They nicely let us in near closing time and even another couple showed up after us. White firs are $70 and Douglas firs are $60. This was my first time ever cutting down a Christmas tree myself and they had an amazing selection! Definitely want to make a tradition out of it! The same trees pre cut on an Xmas tree lot or Home Depot are like $100 more! Well worth the effort and money :) Was open till 5pm on Sunday! Check their website for hours. read more

We've cut our trees at McKenzie Ranch the past two years. It is a beautiful location with lots of great trees - we saw several deer. They usually have a small bonfire going. They offer 'shake' service which removes loose needles and leaves as well as baling for a small added fee. They accept cash or local checks only. First time cutting down a tree and I choose this tree farm because they offer smaller trees. Although the smaller trees cost the same as taller trees ($60), it's truly the experience that is priceless. My younger brother had a great time hunting down the perfect tree and boy the look of accomplishment on his face when he cut down the tree was amazing. For an extra cost of $10 they will shake the tree and wrap it up nice and tight for you. I opted out of this option because my little four foot tree fit perfect in my truck with the seats down. Tips to keep in mind: -wear comfortable shoes, you are walking in nature! -bring a mat to protect your car (I used an old bed sheet) -ask for twine when you first drive in or bring your own rope (how else will you secure your tree on your car) -bring snacks, the little ones burn a lot of calories cutting that sucker down -most importantly, bring CASH!! The place is pretty nice but the price is a bit high, they charged me $60.0 for a small 4' tree for my daughter that was not even worth half that. My wife cold not make up her mind on any tree so I took her to OSH, and guess what, theres these trees on the lot and there telling people that they came in from Oregon, Not True... on the Tag it said McKenzie Ranch. Wow Really Guys, and on top of that my wife found a tree, Noble Fir 7' $29.00, $32.00 with Tax. If you want to get a tree from McKenzie Ranch for Half Price, Just go have your picnic then head down to OSH.... Honestly I prefer Tobacco Ranch, Better Picking and less raping on the prices. Next Year I should put up a sign stating 1/2 OFF Price at OSH at there main entrance. I also plan on driving through and saying something next Year. This year was our first year as a family of 5 going out to find a christmas tree. With our 3 little ones in tow, we eagerly anticipated finding a christmas tree farm we could begin an annual tradition of going to. My husband was familiar with another farm within the Santa Cruz mountains that we originally had thought we were going to but then stumbled upon this farm based on the signs that were posted along the roads. Upon arriving at the entrance to the farm there is kind of a fork in the road. You have the choice to turn to the left, which takes you to another tree farm, or veering to your right into McKenzie Ranch Tree Farm (MRTF). We noticed quite a few cars going to the other farm, so we decided we would go to MRTF and give them our support. I am SO happy we did. It was not crowded at all, which made for great family photos. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, an excellent selection of trees and best of all, the customer service was awesome. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The gentlemen bailing the tree even washed the dirt/mud off of ours so that we wouldn't have to do it when we got home. This will definitely be our go-to location from here on out! So happy we stumbled upon this farm. read more

really liked this place. have kids and was very kid friendly. It is pesticide free and that is of most importance to me. The tag on the tree we got from Costco here in Phoenix said McKenzie Farms so not sure if they got it from you or a farm in Oregon...wherever it came from, it is beautiful! We've always had great luck w/ trees at Costco for a fraction of the cost anywhere else....and they're bound in twine so you can't tell what they look like til you get it home...never disappointed read more

The only reason I didn't give McKenzie Ranch 5 stars is because yelp is funny...if a business gets too many 5 star ratings they remove/hide reviews...We first went to McKenzie Ranch when our oldest was in my tummy...14 years ago! it's since been a family tradition to make the drive up and over the windy mountain to get to McKenzies. The selection and prices are great. Pack a picnic lunch, hot coco or whatever your heart desires and enjoy some time with your family as there are picnic tables available. Although with the popularity of McKenzies getting more popular each year, you might want to bring your own chairs just in case there are no tables available...and don't forget the football to toss around too...it's been so much fun having this a part of our family tradition. read more
