Just had two key/transponders made for a 2012 Honda for 25% of what it would have cost at the dealer. (I actually called three Honda dealers and they were all just under $200 per key) And these are not your old school hardware store keys. These are the so called laser cut, or high security type keys. I called 5 locksmiths and only two had the equipment to cut them. THEN they have to be programmed so that the transponder is recognized by the car. Only Patrick and one other could do that. The reason I went with McGinnis is that he recommended me buying the blanks from eBay or Amazon, at least for my car, because his cost from the dealer was basically what I could buy it for. Haven't come across a business this straight up in a LONG time!! Patrick is just one of those rare people now days that is a straight up kinda guy. I read the good reviews in Yelp and expected to have a different experience. Instead I was pleasantly surprised!! Highly recommend!! When he tried the keys he had just made in the door lock, one would not go into the slot all the way. At which point I thought, glad I order two like Patrick suggested. He said the only problem with keys from Amazon or eBay is sometimes they are just a little too thick. But instead of saying, "Sorry, bad blank", he took a file and worked on it till it worked nicely!! No extra charge. Wasn't his fault I bought a cheap key. read more

Very knowledgable and no nonsense; he provides flat rates for his services and does not charge extras. I was down to one key on my Honda Civic. Instead of charging me $50 for a key, he told me where I could find it for the best price and then call him back to setup a time. When I called back, since I had a key that still (somewhat) worked, he offered to have me meet him where his mobile office currently was instead of paying for a service call. When I did meet with him to get the new keys made, it was obvious from our discussion that he had a significant amount of knowledge about the various car keying systems - in some cases more than the dealer. It also became apparent he had the specialized equipment that many do not have and other locksmiths in the area were learning from him. I priced getting the key done at the dealer; instead I went with McGinnis and walked away with two operable keys for just a bit more than one at the dealership!! read more

I had called several places after leaving my wife, 6mo old baby, and two year old son stranded after breaking the key in my ignition. I called McGinnis after talking to a few knuckleheads that didn't seem to know what they were talking about. The owner answered and immediately I knew that he was an educated, experienced locksmith. He showed up within minutes on a rainy Sunday night in a vehicle that was set up to do some locksmith work. He had a full shop set up inside his converted van. He immediately went to work to remove my ignition, which had the key broken off in it. Bang, Bam , Boom! Within minutes Mcginnis Lock and Key had me on my way home. Hired Pat McGinnis to laser-cut a new aftermarket key (with FOB) after we spoke with him & followed his straight forward directions. Turns out that the year of our Pilot key (it's chip set) was not a 2005, but an '06. He and I only learned that after he cut the key & programming failed. After I purchased a 2nd blank key (from mfr), Pat recut that key and successfully programmed my keys without issue & without added charged. I appreciate him standing behind his work and recommend his service. read more
