Super friendly and reliable locksmith. Do you want to call AAA and wait half a day+ or call Mr. McGinnis and get into your car in 20 minutes? The owner is very helpful and bonus: was a former bull rider! Yehaw! read more

I needed a couple of brand new keyed entry locksets re-keyed to match my new deadbolts. Yesterday I took them to McGinnis in Auburn. Patrick (the owner) was very pleasant, knowledgeable and impressively fast. He had both of those locksets apart, and the existing pins replaced with new ones in under 10 minutes! My bill was very reasonable, and both locks work very smoothly. He was so good that I suspect that he could have done it blindfolded! I will always go to him in the future. Joe C. Colfax read more

I lost my car and stuck at the campsite in Alburn, CA. I called him and he did everything he could help me out; since, he didn't have the smart key for my car, I unfortunately scammed by other locksmith. I thank you for the persistent and genuine help. read more

Patrick was on time and professional and a Hell of a guy. I would hire McGinnis Lock & Key over and over again.... You won't be disappointed. read more

Truth be told, I did not use this company to re-key my home because they were completely booked. This review is because I was so impressed that instead of putting me on their books for three days later when they had an opening, they actually referred me to another company, realizing the urgency of my situation. I was so impressed that they recommended another business for me. That other business ended up able to come out that night. I can see why McGinnis has a five-star yelp, they must not only do a great job, but have a great integrity as well. read more

You aren't going to find a nicer more knowledgeable locksmith. I went to the Auburn location with a old Land Cruiser that needed a master key. I didn't think this would be a big deal but the three other locksmiths I called couldn't do it and the Toyota dealership wouldn't do it. They wanted to replace the whole system for over $1200. The guys here did it in under an hour (I was the fifth customer in line) and for just over $300 I got two master keys and a valet key (one of the keys I brought in they were able to program). He knew how to tell if a key was a master key or valet key (which I learned about on a forum but the dealership didn't know) and he told me about a sticky ignition that he can also repair instead of getting it replaced at the dealership. He taught me some tricks and told me how to help get insurance to possibly pay for part of the cost. I can't recommend this shop enough. I saw them interact with several customers while I was there and they were fast friendly and reasonably priced, plus they had a few keys another guy was looking for that no one else had. Thanks for the great service! read more

Terrific service. Suggested the purchase of a car fob online. Once it arrived, one quick call and the fob was programmed and I was good to go. Pleasant, friendly, professional, fair and responsive. Strong recommend. read more

If you're looking for an auto locksmith that has great prices and great customer service then your search is over...these guys are the overall best bang for your buck out there! If that doesn't convince you then hopefully this will at least speak to the customer service aspect. I am recovering from a serious neck surgery and one of my cars was broken into, the keys to another vehicle were stolen out of the car which left me without any keys for our 2006 Ford Focus. It was hard enough dealing with all of this the first day back from the hospital so I am really relieved that I found McGinnis to make new keys for our Focus. From the minute that Pat called me back I knew that I had found my guy, very friendly on the phone and not grumpy like many others that I had reached out to. Not only that, their price was literally $100 less than I was quoted by one of the other auto locksmiths. The locksmith, Pat, actually came right to my door since I cannot leave my house yet and we discussed which car it was and I let him know that the police had removed our battery and put it in the garage since our keys had been stolen. He not only was willing to come right to my door but he also was willing to go to my garage and grab my battery to hook it back up in the car (all this done with a friendly smile and positive attitude). About two hundred dollars later we now have two new programmed keys and he even made a 'valet' key for no extra charge! These guys really have won my business over and the business of my family, friends, and anyone who asks me if I know a good locksmith!! read more

I called a few locksmiths in the area about getting a new FOB made for my car and was quoted between $100 & $150. I called here and the nicest man on the phone explained that i could buy a FOB from amazon for $5-10 and it was easy to program. He also said that if i had any trouble, he'd only charge $20 to do it for me. I got a FOB for my 06 Focus for $5.99 (free shipping and delivered ON TIME) and it took 5 seconds to program! THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!! =)) read more

Patrick was fast, courteous, clean and friendly!! I will use his service every given chance. I'm a realtor in Rocklin and a good locksmith is an important service my clients depend on and deserve. Thank you Patrick!! read more

Great customer service. I've used them twice now for work, always shows up when he says he will and does what he can to get the job done. The first time they were here in a jiffy and got they key out from the car our employee locked inside, way less painless to deal with once Patrick got here and helped us out. Unfortunately this second call was more tricky because he could get the key to program, darn technology, but he tried for about an hour and didn't even charge us! Can't believe that. Thank you Patrick you are awesome, I'm sure we'll keep you on speed dial. read more

We were locked out of the house by our eager puppy who likes to scratch on the door handle when she hears the garage door open. It was a Friday night, we called Patrick and he came within 20 mins. He went right to work and had the door opened within a few minutes. He showed us his license, explained the locksmith business and made us feel comfortable with his service. His fee was also very reasonable esp. considering how late it was. Prompt, professional, great service.. highly recommended! read more

I lost my back up Ford truck key and needed to have one replaced. I contacted the Dealership who wanted to charge me around $350+. I ordered a key on Amazon and found McGinnis on Yelp who had a perfect score. After talking to the owner on the phone, he told me he just opened a store front in Auburn in addition to his mobile service. He charged me a fraction of what the dealership charges, super friendly and very customer service oriented. I highly recommend this business not only for the super fair price, but the super friendly small town attitude Patrick McGinnis gave me. read more

Would give 10 stars if I could. I waited 2 hours for another locksmith. I tried a second locksmith that didn't do automotive but suggested McGinnis. He showed up within 20 minutes, got me in my car right away where I found the key I thought needed to be replaced. AND he made me a spare key at no charge. Service was prompt and professional. If I EVER need a locksmith this is who in calling!! Thank you so much!! read more

Super helpful. Explained every step of the way. Very reasonable prices. I had a electronic car key, 2 older car keys and 4 house keys - $48!!! The electronic car key at Home Depot/Ace Hardware would have been at east $80. He even made me a burner key (opens doors, but does't engage ignition) for free! Will highly recommend and use again. If he gives you directions to his shop/house; listen closely or write them down, I did not and got lost. read more

Great service! Professional and knowledgeable. Super fast was at the site within 30 min and I was on my way within 30 min later! Thanks Pat!

This is the BEST, most honest locksmith in the Roseville, Rocklin area! He arrived within 10 minutes, after saying it may take 15...just as I found my keys. Despite his time and gas expense, he refused to charge me a dime. Said if he didn't do the work, he didn't feel right about charging me. Wow. If only more businesses operated this way. read more

I have never needed a locksmith before. I bought a used Ford expidition the owner did not know the the Digital code for the door unlock. It only had one key and remote. He recovered the unlock code made me a new key and programmed a new remote for a lot less than the dealer wanted to recover the unlock code. And it did not take very long at all I had a very short wait. I hope to never need a locksmith again but if so I know who to call. read more

Patrick is the real deal. I was locked out of my BMW 330ci with a broken lock. He was relentless and finally won the battle using every trick in his portfolio (my guess is there were more tricks available, but...) He then proceeded to figure out what in the lock was broken and where to find a replacement part to avoid getting a massive bill from the BMW dealership. Strongly recommend! read more

Patrick McGinnis is the real deal. My Mom had been scammed by a '24-hour locksmith' who had left us feeling vulnerable. Mr. McGinnis came out and re-keyed all of our locks and reprogrammed our garage door openers. He was understanding, quick and courteous, and gave Mom a senior discount. His prices were very reasonable and he doesn't charge a rush, evening or weekend fee. If you're looking for a honest, reasonable and fast locksmith, Patrick is your guy. read more

Couldn't have had a better experience! My husband's car door lock was destroyed by a thief, and I got a recommendation to contact McGinnis Lock and Key. Patrick responded to my call within five minutes, gave a great estimate, and said to give him a call when we got a replacement part. When I got the new lock, I called, and again, Patrick responded right away and was already on his way to me! He fixed the lock in no time at all, and because it was easier than he thought (I guess), he charged less than half the quoted price. Super fast, super convenient, super friendly service. read more
