Good things come to those who wait…read more I found Steel City via Yelp, where they responded quickly to my message, but had to delay coming by for an estimate. . After visits from five other tree services/arborists, Elvis came by and offered the best overall combo of expertise and price without trying to upsell. This was late October and he told us he could get us on the schedule for early December and would call to set that up. I came home from work yesterday and was very pleased with what I found. My front yard looks much better and if it ever snows, I'm not worried about branches falling on my roof or any car parked in the driveway. Mission accomplished! Bonus goods: Elvis removed some small bushes from my yard and not only hauled away debris from this job, but took some large tree limbs and debris that broke off months ago--at no additional charge! This was huge and much appreciated. He also gave us advice on how to remove an unsightly shrub that came with the house. Minor issues: 1) After the initial estimate and agreement in October, I had to call Steel City in late November to check in and see if we were still on for our projected time frame. 2) I had planned on using a credit card to pay, but they add 3% to the bill. While I understand the need to recoup processor fees, folks who cannot drop large sums of money up front should be aware of this. I would hire them again based on expertise, concern for customer needs, pricing, and quality of work--especially the prices, which were substantially less than other arborists. Elvis went above and beyond the call of duty.

She provided thoughtful design ideas, walked us through different material options, and helped us stay within our budget every step of the way. Ernesto and his crew were equally impressive. They were always punctual, highly professional, and paid close attention to every detail. Whenever I had a question during the project, Ernesto took the time to explain everything and made sure we stayed aligned with the plan. The project was completed on time, on budget, and the finished backyard exceeded our expectations. The quality of the work speaks for itself, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. I would recommend Laura, Ernesto, and their team without hesitation--in fact, I've already recommended them to my neighbors!

Teo was able to recycle a lot of material in our back yard to help bring the price around $5k cheaper than the next best offer. Now when the price is that good, some might expect poor work or follow through. That wasn't the case. The job took a bit longer than expected but Teo was great at communicating if he was going to be back in 1-2 days so he could fulfill smaller projects which I was fine with, especially for the price he saved us. After he laid the sod we did have a couple areas die and Teo came back twice to patch the areas of concern and even patched areas we were not concerned about and changed sprinkler heads to make it more efficient for us. Again, when the price is that good some people might expect to pay the contractor and never see them again but that's not the case. Having a company that follows through and comes back to make things "perfect" is all you can ask for, and him working with us to recycle a lot of material and save us $ made it all worth it. The concrete he added in the front also turned out great. Definitely call to get work done by them if you are on a budget and don't want to worry about half asked jobs. Also if you are wondering why one area is left as dirt, we asked him to leave it like that so we can DIY a garden

I want to give a shout-out to Splintered Forest. If you need tree service, I think you would be…read morevery pleased with these people. This is one of those companies that is a pleasure to work with. From the very first phone call to the final billing, they were friendly, competent and behaved in a super professional manner. I have lived in Evergreen for almost 20 years and in this area, it pays to have a tree service that you can trust. Earlier this year, we had to fire the company who had been doing our tree removal because of their lack of respect when on our property. So, when we needed to do a home addition and Jefferson County required fire mitigation, we had to start from scratch to find good folks who could do the job. Someone recommended Splintered Forest and I gave them a call. The owners were at my house for an estimate within 24 hours. They were attentive and carried themselves in such a way that let me know they could be trusted. When I asked them how they wanted to handle payment, they wouldn't accept even a small deposit until the job was finished to my satisfaction. I went with my gut and hired them and it was a really good decision. On Tree Removal Day, the team called before coming to my house. When they showed up, they came to my front door, introduced themselves and asked permission to enter the property - this was VERY IMPORTANT to me because I have a territorial dog and I needed to make sure she was confined before commencing the day's work. After I gave the go-ahead, they immediately proceeded to execute their job in an efficient manner, being careful not to damage anything in the course of doing their job. I especially liked that they did the required trimming of trees that were not being removed in an artistic way so that my forest yard didn't look "butchered" when they were done, but were attractive and well groomed. It is one thing to be able to run a chain saw, but quite another to be able to do it so that the end result is nice to look at. It was fun to watch them work and not at all stressful because they were careful to adhere to strict safety standards. When the job was done, they made sure that they left the space scrupulously clean - they didn't leave so much as a twig behind after completing their work. One thing I liked was that this crew of good natured lumberjacks clearly enjoyed their work. The got along well with each other and had such a great attitude that the whole day seemed happy and relaxing. The time flew by and instead of being hassled by the noise and mess, they made themselves a joy to be around. The Defensible Space inspector arrived within 20 minutes of the Splintered Forest team's departure and he not only passed the inspection with flying colors, he commented on the very nice job that was done. This guy sees everything and indicated to me that I was very lucky in my choice of a Tree Service. He asked for the name of the company that had done the work so he could recommend them to future clients. It is rare to find a business that is this attentive to detail, so respectful and ethical. So many companies try to get as much as they can while giving as little as they can get away with. It was SO refreshing to find folks who do top notch work at a fair and reasonable price. I would recommend them to anyone who needs tree removal or fire mitigation. If you need some tree work done on your property you can call them at (303) 819-9840. Ask for Brad or Kara. You might also find their website informative - they have posted lots of photos of their work. http://splinteredforesttreeservices.com Great Job!
