After seeing them chase a mouse around the kitchen and seating area I lost my appetite. Mice problems happen but atleast try to be discrete.

Okay service Haddock chowder was more like potato soup…read moreway too many potatoes very little haddock and thin flavor was decent. Seafood platter was pretty terrible haddock was either frozen or old calamari was hard to find inside the breading same with the shrimp way to thick of a breading. Maybe I just got the worst things on the menu not sure but we went out after to get more food elsewhere.

Jodie's is a gem in Wiscasset! From the food to the service to the view of the water (and…read morepeople-watching all the folks in line across the street), this place ticks all the boxes. So even though this seems like a classic breakfast and lunch spot, they are open til 8pm so we were able to stop in for dinner while bypassing the rush hour traffic. So glad we did! The friendly host gave us a great seat by the window and our server was wonderful - quick and very accommodating with our modifications. Great beer and wine list too. My daughter's butter pasta was a big bowl of nice, buttery fettuccine that she devoured. The club sandwich is a tasty classic, served with house-made potato chips that are super crispy and addicting. My favorite bite, though, was my black and bleu burger. I'm a sucker for this particular type of burger and this rendition was one of my favorites - big juicy patty, plenty of funky bleu cheese, super fresh veg, and a homemade roll that held up nicely to all the deliciousness. The side salad was LOADED with veggies (just how I like it!) and the raspberry vinaigrette was so good, I could drink it. We took home a homemade lemon cookie with cream cheese frosting that was flipping outstanding. At the end of it all, I was super happy with how reasonably priced everything was, especially for the quality and portion. The people here are also a big draw - every interaction was kind and genuine. Just good people serving good food. Don't wait in line - go to Jodie's!

We're local now, so this is a year-round destination for us. In the summer it's outside in Bath's…read moreWaterfront Park (usually from late April through mid-October) and in the winter, a smaller version is in the historic Bath Freight Shed which is also home to the Maine's First Ship Museum. The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Grab yourself some totally goattly chipotle cheese, a few loaves from the Van Gogh of Dough, and some chicken legs from Maine-ly Poultry. And even if they aren't punny, pick up some fresh eggs, crab dip, squash, sage bundles for spiritual wellness, handmade candles, peppers of all kinds, shepherd's pie, heritiage pork, and the best jam ever. That's just a little bit of the selection. And if you tell the folks selling bulbs for your garden that you don't have a garden because you lead a sad life in NYC, they will offer a sympathetic, "Awwww." But my favorite thing about this market? There was a little kid trying to buy a pumpkin, and he dropped it. The nice vendor said he could still have it, but now it's a squash. I'm going to be using that dad joke for decades to come.
