Absolutely the worst McDonald's experience I've ever had--hands down. This location in Taos, NM is beyond unacceptable. I understand needing to lock a bathroom, but being told in a rude tone that I couldn't get the code until I paid for food? Seriously? Basic human decency shouldn't come with a purchase requirement. I only got access after paying, which is ridiculous. Then it somehow got worse. When our food was ready, I asked for BBQ sauce and was told it would cost $0.43. I have NEVER been charged for sauce at any other McDonald's. Not once. To top it off, the place was barely stocked--hardly any napkins, only a few straws--and when we went to get a drink refill, we were told it would be another dollar. A dollar... for a refill. At McDonald's. This place is unwelcoming, poorly run, and clearly doesn't care about customer experience at all. We left in complete shock and disbelief. Went thru the drive thru on a Tuesday at 9am and it was pretty quick service and the egg McMuffin was DELICIOUS! Best i have had in a while.

The hours state 6am open time, yet when I arrived at 7:30am on my motorcycle, the lobby was locked up. No one came to help me. So I called to ask why it was locked and the lady who spoke with me was extremely rude and dismissive. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Steer clear. read more

They prioritize drive thru and not the customers inside. I needed help and they ignored me for many minutes. I had to keep saying excuse me over and over. The lady manager on shift was not super helpful as there was another girl waiting after me to get help also. I told the manager she needs help too cause no one is assisting her. I don't blame the kids here cause they're trying hard but the management needs to teach them if a customer is waiting up front you need to at least acknowledge their existence. read more

There is something wrong here. I tried to go through the drive through at 11am today. They were out of burgers. Seriously the woman said it had just happened. What do you mean it just happened? You have been serving lunch for an hour and you don't have 80+%of your lunch menu. That doesn't just happen. The Taos McDonald's is a pile of garbage. The locals here have been complaining about it for years. Pulled up to this McDonald's about 2 mins ago, parked and turned off my car as I was waiting to meet a friend for lunch. The manager or some guy came out, hollered at me from about 30 ft away, telling me I couldn't park there and needed to leave. He didn't ask if I was eating there or needed anything, he simply told me to go! When I responded that I guess we would find someplace else to eat, he said "good luck." With everything that we are all going through right now, perhaps we should be a bit more grateful for our customers! read more

On a recent road trip I was getting the $1 coffee several times a day to catch up on my e-mail, etc. At this McDonalds, no $1 coffee and they wouldn't let me plug in my laptop while drinking my coffee. All the outlets had covers screwed over them except one. And when I plugged into that one, someone came over to tell me that I wasn't allowed to use it. HORRIBLE customer service! Extremely RUDE staff & manager. After traveling all day it was the only place in town still open... LAST resort. They stopped taking drive-thru orders & serving more than an hour BEFORE the posted closing time and were turning all the cars in the drive-thru away. We were asked if we'd like to speak to a manager and after we politely said "yes," they just turned their drive-thru speakers off. We drove to the window, thinking that was how to best see the manager & they literally slammed the window in our faces & locked it. We drove to the next window and they did the same thing! It was the most disrespectful experience we've ever had. I haven't eaten at a McDonald's in 15+ years and don't plan on repeating this experience. We swung through Taos on our way to Colorado and stopped in here for a quick bite. It was a long trip to Colorado because we had to pull over every hour to shoot liquid out of both ends. Maybe they should include a pedialite or IV with every combo meal. Never again. read more

Don't know how the food was because they literally weren't taking orders in the drive thru. This was 20 minutes after the posted opening time. After 5 minutes of waiting in the drive thru, I should have known what lay ahead when the car in the second lane of the drive thru, who arrived before me, started backing out. I decided I would pull up thinking there may have been a malfunction with the intercom. After another 5 minutes, I backed out too. After going inside, it was obvious no one cared about the customers piling up in line. One person was cleaning the fryer, which seems like something you would do at the end of the day. One person making salads for lunch, instead of helping with the obviously short staffed morning crew. And a third person clocking in, what I would assume is 20 minutes late. Last but not least, the got my order wrong, and there was an extra piece of ham in the bag with a bite in it...... see exhibit A. Someone enjoyed my breakfast, but it wasn't me. read more

After listening to one employee berate a customer about how long he was in the bathroom, I saw another guy come in from the drive through with a plastic bag in his drink. When he asked what it was she said "JUST GIVE IT HERE AND I'LL GET YOU ANOTHER" The customer was as shocked as I was. Immediately after the Manager comes behind me and asks if I parked my RV in his parking lot. I said yes and he said DIDN'T YOU SEE THE SIGN?" I said no, I just rented the RV and should have looked and was sorry. Then he says "YOU ATE TAKING UP 4 PARKING SPOTS" (in a half empty lot) I asked if I could finish eating and he no and yo move it now. I usually don't write about McDonalds (for good reason.) And I've only ever eaten one thing at this McDonalds in Taos -- and it gets 5 stars just because it is so far and away THE BEST CHOCOLATE DIPPED SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM CONE I have ever had. They were selling chocolate dip cones at this McDonalds before anywhere else -- and they started right and kept doing it right. (keep your fingers crossed...) It's almost worth the trip to Taos just for the cone. Okay -- maybe not -- but well worth the special trip while you're there. We only visit Taos in the summer -- and we've been doing it for years -- these dipped-cones are just almost too good to believe. It's like rich Dove-bar chocolate -- it's just that good. The chocolate is so thick and so really real-chocolate (as opposed to that wax chocolate-flavored stuff most places use that runs off like water before it solidifies so that there's barely a millimeter of crispy plastic chocolate there...) Well -- trust me. Unless they've taken the cheaper route and changed their dip -- this is the best part of the summer heat in Taos. read more

This McDonalds is horrible. Not all of the workers were wearing masks, including the owner/manager. We ordered through drive through and they got our order wrong. I went back through the drive through asked for a manager they took a long time so I drove up to the window. The manager took the food back and we went to the next window for our food. Then I said I would wait, a minute later a the lady at the window points and said go! I said I'm waiting for food. She closed the window then a man, I think he was a manager came to the window and started yelling. I said in the last month I've gotten about 5 orders from there and they were all wrong I wanted them to give me what I paid for. The man said to move my car, I said I was waiting for my food. He told the woman at the window not to serve me. We already paid he wasn't even going to give me my money back. He came back to the window and I told him I was going to call the corporate offices, because he was refusing to serve us and give us our money back. I said I was going to call the police because they were refusing serving us for no reason and kept my money. He closed the window again and as I was starting to call the police he opened his window and handed me my money back. Never in my life have I been treated this way trying to order food. Usually the manager or owner of a restaurant apologizes for getting an order wrong and tactfully apologies or brings the meal right away. This place does not do good business, they make your orders wrong, are rude at the window when they make mistakes and then want to keep your money. I will definitely be calling McDonalds corporate offices first thing Monday morning I will also be filing a complaint because they wanted to keep my money and were refusing service because of their mistake. Believe me, after all the hatred and discrimination happening in the world lately I will not be letting this incident go until this situation is rectified and dealt with properly. The people that work here are very rude, do yourself a favor and fine somewhere else to eat. Do not eat here or support this business. Taos McDonald's is the WORST. I've been all over the country and the world. The McDonald's in Seoul South Korea was better!!! They only get a 2 star because the staff is friendly. My problem is trusting they get the order correct. I get burned 75% of the time. I've waited in line twice for 10 minutes in the drive thru only to be told that the credit card machine was broke. This is THE MOST unprofessional and rude place I have ever been to. Now I personally do not like McDonald's food, but I decided to go because it was the cheapest and fastest food available to me. I came in with my service animal, while he is large his size does not matter to the fact that he is in fact an ESA. I showed the manager working my pup's ID. She told me I could not have him in the restaurant and that he was "offending people". She also told me that she was refusing service to me. This is the most asinine situation I have ever been in. After getting told to leave, I asked the rude manager for their name since they were not wearing a name tag (against McDonald's policy, I know I used to work there). She refused to give me her name and walked to the back so I could no longer talk to her. I will NEVER go in to this establishment again. 10/10 WOULD NOT recommend. read more

I would rate no stars if I could. I recently traveled through Taos on my way to the Denver area as I was helping 2 people, one of them 91 years old, move there. We stopped in, bought sandwiches, and brought in a few bottles to be filled with water for the trip. The short story is that the owner angrily lectured me on how outside items could not be brought in and grudgingly filled a couple of the bottles. I would never patronize such a mean-spirited owner's business again and I would encourage others to avoid it as well. read more

I would have given this business zero stars, but that was not an option. I have never in my life been so horribly treated by the owner of an establishment! He screamed and screamed. My blood pressure went through the roof and my fries went cold. After his tirade, I had to go inside find him and tell him that I would NEVER be back! All because I had my certified hearing dog, sitting OUTSIDE with me. There are signs posted all over- a no smoking sign over an outdoor ashtray, a no bags or boxes sign.
