Super fun place to try every now and then as they are always changing up the sweets they serve. They have a wide variety of chocolates and types of drinks and they're always super helpful with guiding you through the menu. Most of what I've tried is pretty strong and the textures in the chocolates or pastries can sometimes be odd or vegan, so I would just ask about it if you're sensitive to that kind of thing. It's a little tight inside, so we sat outside.
It's a cute little place. There are a few seats against the wall so you'll have to take advantage of the benches outside. They have an explanation of the bean to bar process of the cacao on the wall. They also have drawings on the ceiling of the cacao pods. They offer lots of chocolate bars, mousse, cakes, coffee, etc. I opted for their flourless cake. It was so good that I want to come back and get more and also try their other items. The staff were efficient so you didn't have to wait too long. I highly recommend this place.
I cannot even begin to describe how upset I was when my guy and I arrived to see that 3 of the sipping chocolates (all the ones I wanted to try) were sold out. I had been looking forward to this ALL day. We even arrived with 2.5 hours before closing time. They were out of Lavender, Golden, and Reishi. Because I don't like cinnamon or coffee flavors, this left one option for me, French, WHICH ISN'T EVEN CHOCOLATE!! My guy ended up trying 3 sipping chocolates and didn't think they were that good (they came out warm instead of hot). I picked 3 chocolate squares to try (Passion Fruit, Rosemary Olive Oil, and Lavender Caramel) and thought they were all average. The employee who served me my chocolates had a bit of an attitude when I was asking questions, so I didn't appreciate that either.
We only tried their cakes (vegan olive oil and whiskey cake), and both were very good. The vegan cake was very moist, and oh so chocolatey. Husband said he could taste the whiskey, and he liked the cake too. It was too hot for drinking chocolate, but I bet it's amazing when it gets colder outside. They sell diffetent kind of chocolates and bars, mousse, and various cakes. Outside sitting is available.
Having a bad day? Need a pick-me-up? On vacation and want to experience sourced chocolate from all over the world? Chokolá is the place to go! This is one of my favorite stops any time I am driving through Taos, or if I just need something special I will drive 2 hours just to sit a bit and enjoy the rich flavor of something rich and special from Chokolá. Stop by here and enjoy some mousse or drinking chocolate, they also have a range of truffles and other delectable treats.
If I could give a place 6 stars, I would! This is officially my favorite spot in all of New Mexico - at least in what limited area I've traveled to so far. Came here with some friends and were lucky to grab a table. It's small and cozy but definitely worth stopping by, or at least taking your sweets to-go. Parking can be challenging in Taos, so expect to walk a few blocks. I ordered a flight of sipping chocolate, including Aztec, New Mexico Spicy, Arabian, and Mayan. I liked them in that order. Definitely getting the first two again. Not as much of a fan of the last two. The Lemongrass Ginger Mousse and Goat Cheese Chocolate Cheesecake were both to die for. And there's local goods for sale! Chokolà is absolute perfection!
Visiting Taos in mid-September as part of my 70th Birthday vacation in NM we stumbled in Chokolá. My son who loves chocolates made in small handcrafted batches in local shops bought a selection for us to try. Wow, what a delicious treat, out of this world! He also bought me a 75% cacao chocolate bar from Bolivia that I brought home to remind me when visiting Taos again to stop by and have some of their chocolate beverages.
I saw this place on you tube planning my trip to Taos ! It' was as promised! We bought chocolates and had tasting flights and it was just awesome cute place great staff
Such a unique experience. It was interesting and the atmosphere was welcoming. I decided to go with a vegan chocolate cake and a cappuccino. Such a great combination. My friend did the chocolate flight. Everything was delicious. Come here to get your chocolate fix!
Cute spot that sells chocolates and mousse. You can sample the mousse flavors. And they are all very smooth and a nice indulgent treat. A nice stop after a long day on the slopes.
No wonder this place has won awards! The quality of their chocolate is fantastic...and y'all know I know my chocolate! I literally visited two days in a row for their Aztec sipping chocolate, because they don't play around when it comes to sipping chocolate. On day two, I left with almost $50 worth of goodies, all consumed within the day because...again...y'all know my sweet tooth! Among those were a chocolate chip hazelnut cookie, trio with the Aztec (a delightful sipping chocolate steeped with 1:1 oat milk and cinnamon, and finished with their chocolate), Maya (I believe this one is water based), and chocolate mousse (the mousse was the real surprise here, the texture and rich, complex chocolate flavor were to die for). I also grabbed a truffle, and a mocha to go. This is not including the Aztec, Americano, and salted caramel tarte ordered on the first day. If I'm honest, I was not going to return after day one (no matter how fantastic the product) because service matters. I'm not sure they see many people like me (I mean, it's Taos, there aren't many of me), or if I rubbed someone the wrong way with my existence, but the service certainly reflected that something was off when it was my turn to order. Instead of being welcomed, I felt the team member helping me intentionally talked at or down to me when ordering. It was a stark contrast compared to how the two ladies before me were treated, and on top of that an immediate shift in behavior from this shop gentleman. This experience is the only reason I'm rating this place any less than 5 stars, and tbh, I almost didn't return. Luckily, the second day brought a much friendlier face (and as a result I spent more of my money satisfying that culinary sweet tooth of mine). That being said, I hope the gentleman I encountered on my first visit is not the owner (it wasn't Javier so I think not). No matter how amazing the product is, service matters. People matter. Sweet teeth come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and shades. :D.
I like everything about this place, except for the price. Your hot chocolate is going to set you back more than $5, probably more than $7. Ok, this is probably still good value for the quality and care, but still...Ouch. Note, even if you don't order anything, go in for the smells and the education! Definitely worth a visit.
This chocolatier located in the heart of Taos is something I wish had existed in the very neighborhood in Denver. Adorable (well, everything is adorable in Taos; it's the southwestern charm for sure!) but it's more than what its appearance says it all. You have to try their products and see for yourself. What I got me were a few bon bons and a chocolate torte (the whiskey kind). -Miso Caramel: is shaped like a mushroom. Even if you might not be a fan of miso based (everything), you should try these bon bons anyway as they don't taste like miso at all. I was quite shocked with this myself (well, I like miso soup; miso taste doesn't bother me at all. Even so, Miso chocolate candy was something I didn't know what to expect out of. That is why I am saying that I was surprised by it.) -New Mexico , Spicy: was also surprising. The kick in these tiny pieces was quite mighty and yet it was tolerable. -Whisky Torte: All sorts of organic ingredients are used to make these delightful tortes. Tortes tend to be a lot heavier than traditional cakes as their texture is that of fudge. And yet, that shouldn't be a reason for you to steer clear from it as this chocolatier perfected the torte in a way that it will not be too rich or heavy for your taste or stomach. At least that is what I thought when I tasted it. Another must-try item on their menu offerings. For its interior, it's mostly and simply grey on walls but this emits the "chicness" that doesn't overshadow the theme of its business. You should also pay attention to the ceilings and the floors. A careful attention to entertain the guests' eyes is seen throughout. Service was good. I first went here late in the afternoon (close to its closing time). I quickly glanced at each section of the store inside. The kind gentleman upfront wanted to assist me but after asking him if it was open tomorrow (it would be Sunday), he said yes to which I gave him my promise that I would be back tomorrow. The same man assisted me when I was back the very next day to make a purchase. Not sure if he remembered me or not. It's not chocolate bon bons or tortes you can enjoy at this store. The café offers tasting trios, mocha, chocolate mouse, ice cream, affogato, hot chocolate, and espresso and so on. This is a haven for chocolate fanatics. read more
The fanciest chocolate shop I've ever been to. It most definitely isn't your average candy shop filled with Reese's and Hershey's- it's filled with chocolate made in-house that's supposed to slow you down, making you take your time to really enjoy the deliciousness of the chocolate. This is my second time I've been here, and I'm just as impressed as I was the first. I recommend either the sipping chocolate or the sourdough chocolate cake (pro tip: ask for whip cream on the side!), although pretty much anything you could get here is great. Staff is always friendly, and it's a cute and relaxing spot to chill at while exploring Taos plaza. read more

I like everything about this place, except for the price. Your hot chocolate is going to set you back more than $5, probably more than $7. Went here with my family, all placed good sized orders each with 20+% tips per order. Waited and waited for our 2 sipping chocolates, but had our drinks forgotten, the employee that took the order left, and the remaining employee was snapping and rude. Poorly made one in a ceramic cup, and when my mom let him know she had ordered it to go (at this point we had waited over 30 minutes and the rest of our family had finished their cakes and food and wanted to leave) he snapped at her that he didn't take her order so how would he know what she wanted and wouldnt move it to a to go cup. She took one sip, it was horrible tasting and he was so rude that I told him not to bother with making my larger one, and he snapped fine and walked to the back, so I wasn't refunded. Owner said on Google reviews they would refund my order, then had Google remove my review and never sent the refund, which now makes the experience ever worse since thats just dishonest.. read more

The olive oil cake was amazing! Light, moist and the chocolate was perfect! The latte was not the best but still fine. This is definitely more of a chocolate and dessert space than a coffee spot. The service was so so - not overly friendly when asking questions and felt rushed to make a choice. Small space but good amount of outdoor seating. Would go back for the dessert for sure! read more
It's a small chocolat shop in Taos plaza. They have an extensive Chocolat collection including bon bon and mousse. The Aztec is the favorite here which we all tried but my favorite was Arabian with a hint of coffee and cardamom. The French vanilla is also pretty good. The dulce de leche was on point. Try this out for an indulgent warm Beverage. The space is cozy but I did see some people working there. Maybe seating for 10. The place is on the pricier side so be prepared for it read more
Yummm! This place is so decadent, and delicious! I always get the sipping chocolate 3oz and its a perfect amount or pure liquid goodness for my heart and soul. Quintessential little winter treat. Also, all the sipping chocolates are vegan The shop is cute, service is engaged and there are lots of options of chocolate to buy and then a solid menu of house made chocolate treats including multiple types of mousse, milkshakes, cookies etc. There is always a few flavors of mousse available and I have heard rave reviews from everyone I have been with who has ordered it including, "serving size was spot on. Melted in my mouth. Not too sweet, just right. Lil bit of whip cream was the cherry on top." Perfect central location, wonderful little shop that brightens my day. read more

What a cool place! We stopped in for sipping chocolate, and found that we were treated to some very special flavors. Options for hot cocoa were available with hot milk at it, but that was not the recommendation of our server. We also tried some of the house made chocolate which we're just outstanding. Totally delicious chocolate pudding here. Everything people said is true. That rich, decadent chocolate pudding goes straight into the bloodstream. Love how you can get a sampler of three different kinds of things (not just hot chocolates and not just chocolate puddings). But if you're choosing between one or the other, get the simple chocolate pudding (not flavored) with a dollop of whipped cream and your day will be instantly improved z read more
This place has to have one of the best desserts I've ever had! Different kinds of chocolate varieties, styles, and flavors are unique. All the moose flavors were so good! The ability to mix different flavors into one cup allows for you to try each of them. In addition the hot chocolate was amazing as well! I will definitely come here again! read more

We stopped in for a pick-me-up after driving up from ABQ. The shop is very cute and has some indoor and outdoor seating available. The baristas were super friendly and happy to give some recommendations. We went with some of the mousse (chocolate & dulce), hazelnut cake, bonbons (ginger tumeric/pear ylang-ylang/rosemary olive oil sea salt caramel), a pistachio praline bar, and some espressos to pair. Everything was so amazing - the mousses had the perfect consistency and level of sweetness! The hazelnut cake had a yummy base and then topped with a hazelnut layer like the outer shell of a Ferrero Rocher (but way better)! The pistachio praline bar had a wonderful dark chocolate base and the praline wasn't too sweet - this paired so nicely with the espresso. We saved the bonbons for another day, but they held up nicely and were all delicious - my favorite was the rosemary olive oil sea salt caramel since they nailed the flavors profiles and it made for very well-balanced bites, but the pear ylang-ylang one also tasted like biting into a pear. All of the items are very thoughtfully crafted and I don't think you can make a bad selection here! I'd highly recommend stopping in for a nice treat! read more

Great little chocolate factory. The hot chocolate is very rich. A little goes a long way. It is delicious and worth a taste. The candy is also delicious. All of the chocolate is hand made, in house. The smell of chocolate is captivating! Yum read more

The awards and other reviews speak for themselves but I wanted to add my own voice. I can't stop thinking about this place. The truffles and mousse are poetry. Each piece I tried was more perfect than the last. Even the decor is beautiful. Probably worth traveling to Taos just for this one spot. read more
