I am only giving this place 2 stars for the friendly staff. The dining room needs a deep cleaning, crumbs and food in the window ledge looking outside and into the play area. And the bathrooms are disgusting. I would rather go down the road to the truck stop or rest station. Food was average McDonalds food. I probably wouldn't have eaten if I would have seen the condition if the place first. I'm shocked that this is a Raccoon Valley Corporate owned McDonalds, obviously this is one that has been forgotten. Only nice thing is the staff is super nice! read more

Somehow I ended up in Iowa and at this McDonald's. This is by far the worst McDonald's I've ever been to! The staff are extremely rude and the lines are ridiculously long. Make sure you pay attention to what they ring you up for. They charged me for food I didn't even order! My shake was delightful, but the service was horrendous. Once I got my shake I was ready to put my straw in and drink that sophisticated shake down....but no. I wasn't given a straw what was I supposed to use? Scoop it up with my hotel key card. I work here, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sugarcoat anything. If we get busy, it's about a 10-15 minute wait for your food. (That's why people should use common sense and wait until it's not busy, instead of complaining to employees that they want their food fast.) We understand it's fast food, but let's see you try to take care of over 20 orders within a couple minutes. Anyways, depending on who our lobby person is, the restaurant is normally clean and stocked up on everything necessary for customers. We're currently under construction, so it's clearly going to get a little messier than usual, but it's for a good purpose that will help our restaurant be better. First of all, it's McDonald's, can't expect too much. However common curtesy is not too much. The facility was clean. Even through the snow outside the inside floor was clean. The restrooms were the same. When I ordered I gave her my order and said "...that will be all". Her response was "can I get you anything else". I had just told her that was all, they don't listen. As with another reviewer, McDonald's is a bit pricy, I can get more for my money at Subway. As I said, it's McDonald's so you can't expect too much. read more

On the outside this McDonalds looks very nice but the moment we walked in I should have known to walk right out. The place was a mess, no clean tables, and the employee hygiene was lacking in a big way. My husband watched an employee sneeze loudly, wipe his face with his hands, and then continue making food with his BARE hands. We were disgusted by this place! read more

Disgusting how there are bugs crawling all over the floor and crap on the tables and windows. Had to get my food to go because I was too grossed out to eat there. The women's restroom was FILTHY. The counter near the frappe and smoothie machines had trash and it was obvious the counter hadn't been wiped in days. And to top it off, they gave me a medium frappe when I ordered a large and they gave my mom a small when she ordered a medium. Both frappes had a sticker with medium written on it. We didn't go back to get it fixed because we were done with the nasty place. How sad it is when you choose to eat in your car over dining in? This McDonald's had 9 violations from a September 2016 inspection by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA). These violations obviously haven't been corrected. read more

Stopped at this location while on the interstate. Since the car was running low on gas we needed to stop. Thought we would kill two birds with one stone and grab something lite and quick before hitting the road again. Extremely slow wait time to have my order taken and then even longer to get the order. I don't know if they were short staffed or what, but this location is bad. My 5 year old had a happy meal, 4 nuggets, only received 3 and was missing the drink. By this time, I wasn't going to complain, as the line was out the door and the two teenagers working seemed stressed out. We were heading home from visiting family in Nebraska and decided to grab something to eat after getting gas. Since the McD's was across the street, my two boys begged us to go. BAD DECISION! I had 2 regular hamburgers. The first one had a bottom bun that was hard. The hamburger did not taste good at all. The 2nd burger was even worse! The bun tasted stale and the the burger was way overcooked. Tasted disgusting! My wife ordered the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich. She took one bite and spit it out. Said it tasted bad and that most of the chicken was gristle. The fries were not hot, not salted and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Truly disgusted with the food we received. If I had not returned to the interstate before realizing how bad the food was, I would have returned and demanded my money back. Not a happy customer! Really, really bad food. My worst fast food experience was getting day old Burger King brought to me on the tarmac of Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar after being in transit for 39 hours without a real meal. This was a close second. I just checked and it took almost exactly 30 minutes from ordering to receiving my food. There were no napkins or straws in the dining area. The whole place had definitely been cleaned, but not yet this year. 0/10. Do not recommend. read more

The store was surprisingly clean compared to how the other reviews made it sound. That being said they had literally 10 employees walking around so I'd hope one of them cleaned. Speaking of employees one guy walked in barefoot holding his clothes and went into a bathroom stall holding his cloths, still barefoot, and changed. That seemed a bit disgusting to me. This has to be the SLOWEST MCDONALDS EVER! Waited over 15 minutes for a double quarter pounder only to just leave the restaurant with no sandwich. Took 10 minutes just to make a shake and the person making it didn't even know what was going on as he tried to make another shake for me.
