Runner up of the top Tenderloins in IA! Great bar and great place in a small town to stop and have a tenderloin. Stopped with a 4 top and had no trouble grabbing a spot to sit on a cold Saturday afternoon. People keep coming in and filling in empty chairs as we sat. Ordered the tenderloin to split with sweet potato fries. It was the perfect amount of food to split with the hubby. I enjoy sitting at the table and looking at all the old photos on the walls. Lots of history in this building. Should check out my previous review where I get a little more sentimental. The waitress / bartender is great. Have been here for the good food several times. Went a fairly busy week night but some tables were still open. Server was good and we got a couple beverages and ordered quickly. Tenderloin and patty melt. Not complicated. Then watched as at least a dozen or more separate takeout orders were given to others. Had to be at least a total of 50 different orders leaving with 12 different customers over the course of over an hour. Server still checked on us. Finally after over an hour's wait I'd had enough. Other later arriving custoners, a 2 party, got their food ahead of ours. I paid for the two drinks and left. Won't be back. It wasn't a case of a lost ticket because server knew where the ticket was. She said it would be up soon. Nothing on the grill when I looked. I don't mind a busy night but it was obvious the call in orders were being served before customers were being delivered orders. read more

Place was really Clem and comfortable and the food and service was phenomenal. If you're traveling and around the area it's a must try.

This was a GREAT stop on a little weekend trip we were taking. If you take nothing else from this, know that the Beef Philly is worth the little detour from the highway! It's a nice local spot in the small town of Stuart. Pack a little patience and a big appetite! We walked in and found a seat. The guy who walked in after us was served first at the bar, and we kind of sat for a bit waiting but not a huge deal. We were just a little hangry, so the wait felt long in the moment. We ordered the Beef Philly and the Patty Melt. Both were rather delectable. The melt could have used a little mayo in the wife's opinion, but the philly was perfect. Loved the toasted buns and the fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. They came out in due time - it seemed like they had one worker in back and one at the bar. They kept up darn well for that! We had ordered some curds for an appetizer. They never came, but they weren't on the bill either. We were nice and full from our sandwiches anyway. read more

On a cross country road trip and decided to stay the night in Stuart. Happened onto this great eatery. We enjoyed the BLT and the beef Philly Cheesesteak was the best we've had. In fact we just might consider traveling 1800miles to try it again!! Very friendly staff. read more

I've enjoyed burgers in over 30 cities nationwide and I'm telling you folks it won't get any better than this. Ruby's is a small town bar and grill with that exact vibe. Stopped in on a weekend evening and only table was in back and has to be cleared by the kitchen staff. In my opinion: Front staff was standing around and took while to bring menus then left immediately. Different staffer came back after a long wait for order. After ordering, different staffer came back offering to take out order. Ordered a tenderloin and kid cheeseburger. Watched Jamie in the kitchen work very hard and is great running the kitchen. Manager? Who took order helping too using bare hands for buns, vegetables, frozen foods, and fried; gloved for raw meat and only touched bag for proportioned ham. Watched my food made and comfortable with it, though not been with others meals. Tenderloin was buttermilk and light breading, blah overall and not recommend though is 'popular' per order taker. Cheeseburger and fries were good. If want bad service with food that may or may not be made by an overworked gloved cook, or an unhooked helper, Ruby's would make the list. read more

Great little place in downtown with lots of personality. Price is very fair, service is outstanding and lots of items are made in house. The food tasted good and it has a very family feel when in dining inside. I recommend the hamburger. It's not one of those perfectly round frozen patties. It's about a half pound of burger meat seasoned, and hand formed. My guess is this is the best restaurant in town. Worth a visit if passing through. read more

Ever since I been staying in Stuart, living out of a Motel for work, Ive been frequenting Ruby's. I can't cook for myself at the Motel so I depend on the local town to provide for me. I think I've become the Norm to their Cheers. The food and drinks are extremely affordable. The staff have become me newest friends and the regulars are my new family. We stopped by Ruby's after reading reviews. unfortunately we were unable to have anything except pizza due to failure of kitchen equipment. we did have very tasty pizza. Everyone was very friendly and apologetic for kitchen. We would stop agai, hopefully to their burgers. read more

This place has really improved since the reopen. The food is great. My only complaint is that the buttom bun of my burger was completely soaked through with grease. That being said, it was still very tasty. They have great daily food specials so keep an eye out for those. Overall a pretty decent small town pub. read more

I ordered a burger and fries, the burger was raw in the middle and the bun soaked with blood. The waitress apologized, but didn't offer another burger or anything else. We got our check to pay, and the burger was still on there, and she tried to charge us for 4 beers when we'd only had 2. I won't order food there again. read more
